March 21, 2018This human being is a disgusting pos. He has the guts to say his wife was right, that he really needed to fuck ow. But I think everything is fine, because he was thinking about his wife wishing it was her he was doing it with.

I really don’t know what kind of story is that and how in this world that will be a reasonable explanation for his actions and how is even possible for this human being be redeemable. His wife could have said for him to leave, to go away because she couldn’t stand the sight of him, but he should have stayed and help her got through the “grief”, the tragic trauma and the hurt. Not hopping in ow (s) bed because she said so. Selfish, self absorbed, vain, egoistic, amoral, heartless, unreliable, untrustworthy, trash, scum bag, jerk, asshole, cheater, insensitive...are some “qualities” I could think for him.

May 2, 2017As much as I like this series, I'm not sure if I will read this book. Zander is not one of my favorite characters. Especially after reading the Xmas stories & his dreams of a threesome with Jesse & Lucy. That just made me dislike him even more. Then to find out he's married! Sorry I don't believe he's in love with Tera. Not after all his sexcapades in earlier books. It doesn't ring true for me. If you cheat on your wife, you never loved her in the first place. I'll probably get it because it's part of the series but I'm not sure I'll read it. I'll see how I feel when it comes out.

I loved Xander throughout the whole series so I couldn’t wait for his story. We find out he’s married to Tera. You get to see how their relationship develops from the beginning at the age of eight years old.
I don’t just love you. I am so deeply in love with you I don’t even know how to handle it sometimes
I just love Xan even more! But I was not expecting to get my heart broken on such event that occurred to Tera.
“My heart-it’s broken for my girl. So broken. Just as she’s going to be for a long, long time.”
Can’t wait for Part 2.
I loved Xander throughout the whole series so I couldn’t wait for his story. We find out he’s married to Tera. You get to see how their relationship develops from the beginning at the age of eight years old.
I don’t just love you. I am so deeply in love with you I don’t even know how to handle it sometimes
I just love Xan even more! But I was not expecting to get my heart broken on such event that occurred to Tera.

I had read several unfavorable reviews about the book.
But when I was looking at reading recommendations on amazon and I came across the book on Kindle Unlimited I decided to take a look.
The author writes well, and the story was well developed until our heroine being raped and she get really very traumatized and with serious damage to both physical and psychological.
From then on it was down hill and the couple didn't have the happy ending that I expected.
Without HEA and still ends in clifhanger.
Read it and then tell me what you think.

With each book that is released the Rockstar Series become a bit darker when compared to the initial books and relationships a bit more tangled and complicated than you could ever imagine.
It is said that the brightest of smiles hide the biggest of fears and in Xander's case this was absolutely true. Xander: Book 1 is set in the past when Falling Down were just kids and then moving on towards how they met two kids who so quickly became an extended part of the family and one of them ended up being Xander's forever girl.
The first half of the book, Xander has you swooning like anything with his one-liners. I mean, damn! this guy is smooth as hell (which I already knew) but when it came to all things Tera — best friend, wife, soulmate — this guy didn't stop at anything to make her feel special and wanted.
The second half of the book... This is where I stop because that was one of the things I did not see coming for miles. This one incident not only changed Tera's but Xander's life too, in ways they never imagined. There were decisions that Tera took leading after the incident that I can somewhat understand. I can understand that the final decision she took was out of love. Can I completely understand where a person, or a character, were coming from in one of the most horrific situations of their life? Their thought process? No, and I am not going to pretend I do. I don't understand what goes in the mind of the victim. I can't empathize with the situation but I can most definitely sympathize and that is exactly what Tera evoked. The hurt, the pain, the utter helplessness and yes, humiliation.
There were a lot of questions that I had prior to the release of this book, say from Book 1 and I am so glad that Anne was able to, unknowingly, clarify a lot of those questions.
If you've been a longtime fan of this series, then I definitely recommend you give Xander a try. It is going to be unexpected, because duh! Xander but I can't even begin to tell how everything about Xander's behavior, from Book 1 till now, makes sense and you get a better understanding the why's and hows.
PS. Me sad when Xander sad. Me wants my happy-go-lucky Xander back. ❤️

5+ Xan the Man stars!! Anne has done it again... she's made me fall in love with another character....
I don't even know where to begin with my review. I finished this book days ago, but it's taken me this long to get my thoughts together to write a review, well that and dry my eyes from all the crying! This book touched me on so many levels! I've been waiting for years to get Xander's backstory and now that I have it, I'm in utter shock and awe! Everything makes sense, things have lined up. His and Tera's love story will break your heart and make you smile. It's a beautiful story with tragedy, heartbreak and promise.
Anne knows how to write one heck of a book. She takes her readers on an emotional journey and you become invested in these characters lives. Your heart will break for these two characters and I dare you to not shed a tear... because trust me it will happen! And while this book is different from her others, which isn't bad at all, she shows you that life isn't always roses and butterflies. Life happens, and it throws you a curveball.
Anne can do no wrong in my eyes and she has knocked this one out of the park! Well done, another amazing book under your belt!!!

The story has laughs, pain, anger, suspense, and heartbreak.

This is the REAL Xander...and I love him
Who finds their soulmate on the elementary playground at 8 years old? Xander and Tera, that's who.
We have all loved Xander from the very beginning, from our first look at Falling Down.
Xander was crazy, off the wall, anything goes, care free (the list could go on) but during the AVXC (A Very Xander Christmas novellas) we had seen that life isn't always as it appears! And with this, now we know why. We know their past, their history, their lives...and it explains SO much!
I had to take a break after I finished Xander before I could complete a review. It was just too...hard to come up with the right words; and to be honest, I don't know if I will ever have the words.
The way I feel for this book is unlike any I have ever felt. There is so much raw and deep emotion behind every word written that makes this book unlike anything Anne Mercier has ever written. It grabs ahold of you and keeps you captive through then entire thing, never allowing you to let go.
I now know their past but I absolutely cannot wait for their present!

Anne does it again
I wanted to give this book 5 stars. I really really did. It was spectacularly written and really made you feel. Hello ugly cry. It was much anticipated and well worth the wait. Anne Mercier can write Rockstar romance like no one's business. I can't wait to continue Xander and Tera's story in part 2.
I know you are reading this like this chick is crazy she's telling you why this book is a 5 star book but only giving it 4. I know some might say this is being too picky but here is why I didn't. The book starts out at Tera and Xander meeting in grade school at age 8 and progresses through their adolescent years. I absolutely could not get over the way 8 year old Xander and later all the guys sounded like they were the adult versions of themselves. Their thought processes and words were not that of children but of adults. I get that she was trying to convey love at first sight even at 8 but it just didn't ring true for that mentality and maturity level. I can handle some deviation from what would normally be expected but this was just a little too much for me. Again I may just seem picky but it is my opinion as a reader. Otherwise this book was 5 star all the way. Great Job Anne!! Can't wait to read the rest of Xander and Tera's happily ever after.

Oh my freaking damn!!!! I thought I loved Xander before. Boy was I wrong. This book gives you so much more of Xander and how sweet, awesome, loving, and amazing he is!!! Actually that goes for every single character in this entire series. We get to see the whole group of guys from Jesse, Ben, Kennedy, Ethan, Linc, and so on. These boys, they have this one special and amazing girl named Tera's back. They would do anything for her and they love her. They just, this book solidifies my love for this group of rock stars!!!
Families come in many different ways. Blood being the most common. But what makes a family more special? A family created from a group of friends. That is exactly what this group of friends do. From the first minute Xander meets Tera you know there is never ever ever any going back. There just isn't. I could feel the chemistry coming off the pages of the book as I was reading. It was everything possible I wanted it to be and so much freaking more!!! I'm rambling but I mean, I'm trying to get my head all screwed on straight and figured out.
Sometimes one things happens in life, the one thing that may very well end up defining you. It happens to Tera and to Xan. And what comes from this ordeal turns into the most beautiful love I've ever had the pleasure of reading about. Even to the point of sacrifice. Sacrifice to make the other one happy. Even when it rips at your insides. I just, I'm not doing a good job here at all. But I'm telling you this, Xander and Tera were worth everything. I just, my heart loves them so stinking much!!!
I'll leave you with this, I've never much been a fan of rock star romances. I usually think they are pigs and there are no redeeming qualities when it comes to them. Anne? She completely flipped my way of thinking. Her men have some of the biggest hearts I've ever known. She makes them real and raw and so damn lovable. This first part of Xander lays the groundwork for one of my most favorite rockstars ever. Reading Tera and Xander falling in love and feeling like I was there with them was truly one of the most amazing love stories I've been apart of. I can't get enough of Tera, Xander, and the rest of my rock stars!! ❤️

Xander has been a much-anticipated story for me since I started reading Anne Mercier's Rockstar series. He's goofy, silly, funny as hell and has the biggest heart of all of the guys so I knew his story would be one I'd never forget and Mercier did not let me down with the first part of Xander's story. It takes us back to 8 year old Xander, when he first meets the love of his life, Tera, and progresses through until the present where we get a cliffhanger until part 2 of the story is released. It tells the story of the members of Falling Down before they were a band when they were all just regular guys who were best buds. It takes us through the forming of the band and their rise to fame. It gives us glimpses into the lives of the band members we've yet to fully get to know. But more importantly, it allows readers to truly get to know the real Xander as he grows up, falls in love and faces some of the most heartbreaking moments of his life. Mercier always gives her readers stories that are raw and gritty---she never sugarcoats it to appease all of her readers and that's one thing I really appreciate about her writing. And in Xander, she doesn't hold back. It is emotional, heartbreaking and tragic and readers should be prepared with their tissues because there will be tears shed. Mercier basically ripped my heart out but towards the end started putting it back together again. Xander and Tera's story is tragically beautiful and readers will not be able to put it down. It's sexy in all the right ways and well--we're talking about Xander so of course it's funny and entertaining. I am thoroughly looking forward to reading Xander Part 2 to fill in the rest of the blanks and see how Xander and Tera's relationship plays out. Lord knows that Xander deserves his happily ever after!

OH MY GOSH!!! This book is hands down my FAVORITE Anne Mercier book EVER!!! It was so worth the wait! The emotions I felt while reading were wide-ranging from laughing to balling my eyes out. There really are no words to describe how I feel but I shall try my best...

I have loved Xan since the beginning of the series and couldn't wait to read his story. I was really nervous with seeing how it was all going to come together but I should've known Ms. Mercier would deliver a phenomenal story! I loved everything single thing about Xander and Tera’s story!
Without giving too much away, Xander and Tera meet when they are 8 years old on the playground. They knew from that first moment that their lives were forever changed. OMG, this book!!!
I loved how Xander and Tera met, loved that Tera and Link were absorbed by the group and treated like everyone else. How cute were all of these kids at 8!! As they grew up it was interesting to see how the dynamic changed, with the group and with the couple. I was glad that all of the kids had Xander's dad and the housekeeper and her husband as good adults to look up to, to go to with issues, to provide them a safe place.
Part of me hated when Xander didn't go after Tera when he realized she was a "girl", yet another part of me liked that he knew he wasn't ready for Tera and all it would mean if he claimed her.
The last part of the book gutted me. I hated what Tera went through, hated what those that loved her had to go through with her, hated what she gave permission for Xander to do, just hated it all!!
Part of me is glad that I didn't read this one until part 2 is out, but another part of me needs a break before going back to this couple, because while I know there will be a HEA, there will be lots of issues to go through first, and quite frankly I need a break, even if these are just make believe people.
I loved how Xander and Tera met, loved that Tera and Link were absorbed by the group and treated like everyone else. How cute were all of these kids at 8!! As they grew up it was interesting to see how the dynamic changed, with the group and with the couple. I was glad that all of the kids had Xander's dad and the housekeeper and her husband as good adults to look up to, to go to with issues, to provide them a safe place.
Part of me hated when Xander didn't go after Tera when he realized she was a "girl", yet another part of me liked that he knew he wasn't ready for Tera and all it would mean if he claimed her.
The last part of the book gutted me. I hated what Tera went through, hated what those that loved her had to go through with her, hated what she gave permission for Xander to do, just hated it all!!

There is a reason why we call Anne Mercier our Queen. She can write a story and make it feel so real that you feel all the emotions she does when writing it.
I wanted to reach out and hug everyone that was hurting in the book. Wanted to take a fricken ball bat and club the bad guys in the book and wouldn't even give a F**k if I went to jail. I know it's fictional but those are the feelings I get when you read her books, you want to protect the characters. You want to party with them, your on the same ride their on. When you are done reading the books you keep thinking about it days after on how things will be in the next book. That is a sign when your a very talented writer, when a story stays with the reader and look forward to the next book and get emotionally invested in the characters and their "Family". Proud of Anne sticking to her guns and not being bullied into putting out a book just because the fans wanted her too. You do that in your own time. Not ours. Good things come to those who wait and boy was this worth it. THANK YOU ANNE!! Love your brain!!

Oh My Xander!!
Oh Xander, my Xander. Anne didn't take it easy on you and Tera did she? I have loved Xander since the very first rockstar book. There was just something about him, the cheeky, happy go lucky drummer boy that you couldn't help but love. Who knew what pain he had been keeping hidden inside of himself??? And Tera?? There has been hints of a special lady in his life in previous books but no-one has ever said why Tera was so important, well I now know and can't wait for Tera to join the BFD tour and meet the ladies who have caught the eyes and hearts of Xanders band mates.
I have waited 2 years for Xander Mackenzie's book, was it worth the wait? Hell yeah! Would it have waited longer? Hell yeah!! (Though massive thank you to Anne for not making me wait another 2 years 😂) Xander's story continues on in part 2 - the present some time in June I believe. Anne Mercier is and always has been a 1click author for me, from her very first book, Xander has just reinforced that tenfold

I have been waiting for Xander's story like a kid waiting for Christmas, and every word was worth every second of it. If you are a Xan Fan you know and adore the goofball drummer of Falling Down, you know that he's waited forever for his heart to come home and wondered why she wasn't already with him. Readers have fallen in love with Xander and the infatuation started in the very beginning of the series with Falling Down. He is this goofy, happy go lucky guy who loves his friends and band dearly. At long last we finally get his story after his secret was revealed in A Very Xander Christmas 3.
It's always been hinted that Xander has a girl and it came out that her name is Tera in Ballad. But, this is their story and how everything including the band started.
Nothing could have prepared me for this whirlwind of Tera and Xander! They have been through so much and so many questions popped up throughout the series so far, and all of the questions surrounding these two are answered in this book.
Once again Anne hit this out of the realm of expectations and gave us something so amazing we will forever feel it in our souls. It's a change of pace completely and has qualities that aren't in the other books of this series. Xander and Tera have a complex relationship that started, truly started right at the beginning of their careers. Their story reflects that and then some. But, while their relationship is complex, there is an innocence there as well that takes everyone by storm because the innocence is as pure as their love for one another.
I can't wait for part 2 to see Xander and Tera finally back together in the present!

EEEEK!!!!! I m so excited to get the back, back story of Xander and Terra. I knew he loved her but had know idea how hard and true. Xander and Terra started as childhood friends but Xander knew his feelings for her were different, we're changing but would she still want be his friend? Terra knew she would always love Xander but knew he didn't want her, so when the truth comes out on how they feel for each other the fight they show for thier relationship is beautiful, but Xander being on tour makes things hard especially when a life changing moment happens to Terra that changes everything. It all makes so much sense now and I belive I love Xander more if that's possible. A beautiful story and I can't wait for book 2.

This book, it's just WOW... I've read all your books in this series and let me tell you, this one is by far the best in my opinion. I knew that Xander's book would be my favorite just by his personality in the rest of the books and you didn't disappoint me. It's like he said when you love, you love fiercely, he went all in. Then there is Tera, let me just say bravo. She went thru so much and at the end she came out stronger then ever. I just know that their second book won't disappoint. I can't wait to read it. Thanks for taking your time and not rushing the book.

Love this series and these rockstars!
It was awesome to go back in time and see the guys when they were young. It just added even more to their already strong and loyal friendship.
As soon as I knew there was a 'Tera' I was curious as to how she and Xan met, and how she would fit in with the rest of the group. I loved that she met all the boys when they were so young, and had such a great friendship with all of them, but always had that extra special connection with Xan. Tera is kickass and can hold her own not only with these lovable guys, but also with the jealous bitches and other dudes. I can't wait to see how she fits in with the girls.
I was shattered reading what Tera goes through and how it affects her and all the guys. I just know it's going to make her and Xan stronger than ever. And to realise that when Xan has been getting up to his Xananigans in the other books, he was going through such a hard time being away from Tera. Just makes you love him even more.
Oh and can't forget to mention how awesome Dr Mac is!

My heart...
Wow...truly an emotional read...We've all waited for Tera and Xander's story and here it is ...in all its gut twisting ...heart stopping ...epic-ness ...These two meet at a young age and pretty much know...they are IT for each other ...it's just gonna be a long and hard road to getting there ...

Xander!! Xander has been one of my favourite book characters for a long while, I've loved his energy and I couldn't wait for this book. Oh man, I wasn't disappointed - Xander's back story blew me away. Anne Mercier has done a fabulous job of making every emotion come to the surface as the story unfolds.
The one thing that I hadn't expected was to put the book down thinking a whole lot less of Xander. I'm not going to put in any spoilers because this book is too good to wreck and it is probably just me that feels this way but seriously TWO MONTHS. Xan, I'm so disappointed in you. Tera is the love of his life, all the way through the book that is reiterated but that only warrants TWO MONTHS (two years would have been too little.) Maybe the next book will redeem Xander a little but right now his halo has slipped for me.
Great read, looking forward to the next instalment in this brilliant series.

Xander Book 1 by Anne Mercier.......Wow, I am still trying to catch my breath. This book was like being on a emotional roller coaster, so have your Kleenex ready. I could not put it down until I finished it. Xander and Tera have loved each other since childhood, they went from friends to lovers. Tera has went through so much and it has made her into the most beautiful strong woman. Anne Mercier know how to turn these characters into real life, you feel all their emotions. I highly recommend this fabulous book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

First and foremost, I ABSOLUTELY loved it!!!! Having had glimpses of Xander and Tera's relationship from the previous books, I knew there was a huge reason why they weren't together but I NEVER EVER EVER expected to be what it was!!!! I cried so hard for Tera and for Xander. I have a better understanding of why Xan does the things he does and I absolutely love him more for being the man he is. Mad respect to Tera!!!! Impatiently patiently waiting to see where their story goes from here.

OMG!!! I don't have the words to do this review justice but I'll try my hardest!!! PHENOMENAL!!! It all makes sence now!! Why Xander is like he is! Why he's married for 10 years but they don't live together. Why Tera has to be 'ready' to join Xander in LA. Why Falling Down are Brothers not just friends ect!!!! Such hard subjects so BEAUTIFULLY written!!!! Anne Mercier continues to give us her heart and soul in every book she writes!!! I truly wish more then 5stars were possible because 5 stars is not enough!!!!! Defiantly a MUST READ!!!! I just can't wait for more of Anne Mercier's genius!!!!

Worth the wait.!
So worth the wait! I knew Xander's story was going to be phenomenal. Its sweet, touching, emotional and sexy. He and Tera have a true love and their story is gripping and real. My heart broke for these people and my love for the guys grew more than I thought it could. I really enjoyed reading about the band starting out and how the guys met. Now I want to go back and read all the books again. So can't wait for part two of this story, just hope my heart survives.

Xander, Xander, Xander! I have waited for you and you did not disappoint. I have to be honest going into this I was a bit hesitant to read about Tera. I love Jesse and Lucy together but the devil on my shoulder screams for some steamy scenes with Lucy and Xander. I was overwhelmed with how much I embraced her character and their love. I won't go into specifics because I hate spoilers but what she goes through is truly horrific. I cannot wait to see the next installment. I hope there will be some of Lucy in the next book. I love the banter between Luc my Goose and Xan my Man, as well as his love for the babies!!!
