Award-winning Edinburgh Italian Civerinos are dishing up a broken chocolate Easter egg calzone this weekend.

The special edition treat will be available to chocolate lovers from Good Friday right through to Easter Monday.

Punters have the chance to bring in their own Easter egg for the desert for a fiver - or have an egg selected from the restaurants secret supply for £10.

Chocoholics can tuck into the sweet treat at any Civerinos across the weekend.

As Easter fever hits Scotland, punters can treat themselves to a Scotch egg with a twist.

Inventive butcher Graeme Barber has created a sweet scotch egg - replacing the traditional egg with a Creme Egg.

Cadbury has created a huge SEVEN stone Easter egg

The butcher - who works in Alford in Aberdeenshire - has been selling the Easter treats for the last four years and said they remained as popular as ever.

Graeme said: "The eggs are always very popular. We easily sell about 12 a day during the Easter period.

"People often buy them as a gimmick. They sneak them into a packed lunch box and wait for a shocked phone call or try and trick the kids with them."

The special scotch eggs sell for £1.40 and can be made to order throughout the year if requested by customers.

The idea came from Graeme's pie maker who one day said she had a dream about a cream egg inside a scotch egg.

Graeme said: "When our pie maker said she had a funny dream about them we just thought let's make it and see what happens.

"We wanted to do something to try and stand out.

"You can eat them hot or cold. I prefer them cold, like a traditional scotch egg, because they can go quite gooey when they are hot."
