Rubin shared this moment of levity with MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace during a panel discussion of former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker's testimony on efforts to cast Trump as an "eligible bachelor."
"One of the things that made me laugh out loud today is when he described Donald Trump as 'one of the world's most eligible bachelors' without any sense of irony, given that he was married," Rubin said.
The table burst out laughing.
"And he corrects himself!" chimed in Wallace. "He says, he was one of the, and then he goes back and says he was the most eligible bachelor."
Pecker was the first witness presented in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's case against Trump, who has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records around the 2016 presidential election.
Bragg contends Trump paid to "catch and kill" salacious stories he feared might hurt his chances of winning the White House, and that he was assisted by Pecker.

"You know, this is a clearly campaign motive here that was laid out by David Pecker, talking about the purchasing of stories for the purposes of potentially releasing them after the election," said NBC reporter Vaughn Hillyard.
"If you are open to releasing these stories after the election, then your concern is not about your wife or your children one day finding it out. It is about making it through November of 2016, and a potential to win the presidency."
Frequent MSNBC commentator Donny Deutsch chimed in to express skepticism about Trump's argument that he wanted to quash untrue stories he feared would hurt his family.
"In New York, Donald Trump was never discreet about anything," Deutsch said. "It was always out and about. That's what makes that such a joke to people that kinda inside-baseball understand Trump and the social scene. Donald Trump was never operating very low-key, if you will."
Added Rubin, "It was a joke to David Pecker, too."
