Honestly, when I read all of the other reviews for this book I thought I was in for a good read. It does have a plot, if you call a bluntly told "this is what she is, he wants her dead, he wants her alive, and she won't freak out at all" a plot. There was no suspense, the action at the end was robotic, and the fact she would only question what was happening for five paragraphs before agreeing with whatever was going on...kinda made me a little frustrated. It was mostly dialogue as well, and while I know dialogue is needed(I even like it a lot lol) I think a good mix of disruption+dialogue+keeping things hidden and leaving the reader in suspense; is what makes a good book. When ever something would happen to make a question it was answered right away. An example is when the lead male calls for other male to help protect the lead female.in one page this happens: she thinks he doesn't want her. He sees she is not happy. He asks, then demands to know (in a begging way mind you) what is wrong. She tells him. He tells her shes wrong. She believes him. No drama, no doubt, and no pleading the case on why she thought that. And the sexual scenes were describe as"hot" in a few reviews. They are tepid, one, maybe two pagers. A kiss, fondle, touch, get nekked...
And the next morning is saying hi. No details, or love words, or interruptions. While the sexual scenes aren't what brought me to the book (the fact it is a shifter book is what caught my attention, and the reviews drew me in) the fact it is a shifter Romance book means it should have more romance than it does...in short, I was not satisfied or happy with a nice relaxing read. More like so frustrated I had to find two other books before I could sleep. The only plus is it was only $2, so I didn't waste money.
NOT RECOMMENDED.

Oh dear , I wanted to like this book and I am pretty tolerant of writing styles . But arghhhhhhh . Could not get past the third chapter. It was like reading the back of the cereal packet if it was attempting to be a paranormal romance .... Sorry
Not sure how it got such good reviews .....

This one was just ok for me. It had the whole insta love thing, the magical shifter that will save them all. Not sure if I will check out the rest of the series.

Title: Tiger Time
Series: Alaskan Tigers Book 1
Note: Book 1, not a standalone book, does end as a cliff hanger
Author: Marissa Dobson

This is my review of Tiger Time. I got this first book in the series free through its normal set price. This is the beginning of a great set. Be warned though you will not want to stop with just this one book and I now have all the rest on my TBR list.

Tabitha Leigh is an ex foster kid who is trying to eek out a living. With a crappy apartment, crappy job, and only one friend she is not happy. She feels the yearning of the cold, of Alaska, a place she has never been. She has been sick, exhausted and running a major fever for a long time and nothing helps.

Ty Renolds, the Alpha of the Alaskan Tigers has been watching over Tabitha. As a half breed they are not sure if, or when, she will transform but it is vital that if she does he is there. If Tabby finds her tiger she will be one of the most powerful tiger shifters out there, descended from royalty, a Queen, and his life mate. People want to kill her because of who and what she is. Ty has to help her through the change and back to her people in Alaska where they can begin to explain the mystery of who she is and how she will work on uniting all of the tigers together.

I highly enjoyed this book because i don't always get to see a lot of tiger shifter books. We get to see Ty and other tigers change in this book, as well as a wolf, but we don't get to see Tabitha go through her change but we know it is coming. I can't wait to see if she is the color they expect her to be. This was a pretty short book in my opinion but it does well to get you hooked into the series and that's what a free starter book is supposed to do. The writing could have dealt with more edits, a cliffhanger warning, as well as a bit more storyline on how a foster kid suddenly was able to act like a queen.

I just started reading the Alaskan Tigers series. Tabitha has grown up in foster care which has made her tough and dependent. This is to her benefit when Ty comes into the picture and starts answering her questions about her past. Tabatha finally finds where she fits in after feeling out of place for most of her life. With her new found role, she’s learning to trust her instincts and use the gifts of her linage. I’m excited to see where the rest of this series will lead!

General story line has some potential but this wasn't fleshed out well. The main female lead was really annoying as well, and the author kept forgetting she had made her only 18 years old. This is especially evident as the series goes on. Also found it icky that her father's friend was her mate.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I really wanted to like this book but it was just too much of a 'Really?' situation for me. The way Tabitha totally accepted the whole tiger shifter scenario, without even batting an eye was just to ridiculous for me. No doubts, no questions, no nothing, just Ty telling her they are tiger shifters and she's like 'okay, now what'..that quick acceptance started the downfall for me, but what clinched it was Ty.

Normally I love tough alpha male leads but Ty was so fucking extra it was beyond frustrating. If he was a dog, I would have expected for him to piss on Tabitha for all of the tough shit act he was putting on. I swear to God, the man was losing his fucking mind, yelling at his people, being a huge asshat and basically putting Tabitha in the proverbial bubble. The poor girl couldn't even cough without this Neanderthal yelling at one of his guards for allowing his mate to cough and not use their hands as tissues! That's how fucking insane this man was. There was nothing sexy about his over the top attitude. I swear Tabitha acted more mature and she was only nineteen!!!!

Lastly, the ending! It was so fucking abrupt, I honestly thought I skipped a chapter or something because in one paragraph I'm reading about the plan to see Pierce's sister and a few lines later the book is over...just...like...that! It ends on a slight cliffhanger, if not for the free three book boxed set I have, I would have been pissed if I paid for such an abrupt and incomplete ending!!!!!

Tabitha Leigh isn't feeling well, she aches, has a temperature and is extremely tired but cannot sleep when she tries to rest at night. Her entire life is about to change in unexpected ways.

Ty Reynolds is an Alpha tiger clan leader and he has been watching over Tabitha all the time she was in foster care and now it is time to let her know her destiny as not only a Tiger Shiftier but also the Queen of Tiger Shiftiers and it is her destiny to unite all Tiger Shiftiers as told in prophesy for generations of Tigers from her Royal line.

A Tiger Shiftier that was turned into a shiftier wants to kill Tabitha just like her killed her father. Tiger Time tells of the transition and acceptance of her new paranormal self and getting to know her clan and Ty, her mate. She is finding her abilities and with the attacks on her life waiting to the time for her to learn to shift. It is part of a series and ends with a mild cliffhanger or a good lead into the next book in the series.

Good.series start, cliffhanger ending

Tabitha grew up in foster care. At 19 she and her best friend live across from each other and struggle to make ends meet. Tabitha finds a letter on her door from a man who claims to have know her father.
Then Ty shows up at her apartment. He knows she has been sick and he knows why and he can help her. She is in danger.
Tabitha is thrown into the world of shifters. Ty is a tiger, the Alpha of her deceased father's pack and he is her mate. Tabitha 's illness means she will soon go through her first shift. There is a legend about her family. She and Ty are destined to unite and rule all the tiger shifters.
Good story. Ty is a typical alpha. Tabby, is a mix of tough and vulnerable. She quickly adapts to her new reality. She is a bit stubborn and is no pushover.
Interesting world building. Fast paced and steamy. Story ends on a cliffhanger.

At first, with all the drama and action I thought this could be an interesting (if dark) story.
But then it went like this:
- Hey, you are tiger shifter. --> *faints once* okay.
- Oh, and all those years you were all alone treated like shit in the foster care system, we all watched you but didn't want to help you until we knew you were a tiger for sure. --> okay.
- Oh, and we are gonna move to Alaska. ---> Okay! (my only friend was just murdered, but rather than deal with it I don't want to think about it so I'm just gonna run away to Alaska with this dude I just met!)
- Oh, oh, and you are actually my mate. ---> Oh, okay.
- And I'm an alpha so you will be an alpha too. ---> Oh, okay.
- And oh, you are actually a princess, the most valuable female tiger, and the continuation of our whole race depends on you!! ---> Oh, okay.

If it wasn't for the weird insta-mate/oh okay and the 'last tiger princess' crap I'd probably continue reading. But this was too much.

Not a fan. I felt this was a very disconnected and shallow story. The main female character had been shuffled through foster homes, yet this had no real bearing on the story. They know she is to be the tiger queen because a book told them, so no story of self-discovery. Somewhere along the line she did transform into a tiger, but then there was no other occurrence. One tiger was punished because he slipped off duty to have some personal time with his new mate, yet the main characters were often walking out of meetings for a little one-on-one. The sex, however, was tepid. Then the book finished off very abruptly with no big climax and nothing resolved. I certainly won’t be in a hurry to read other books in the series.

This sounded like a promising book.
It starts with her being in foster care and her bestfriend from there is attacked by her boyfriend and even killed by the same boyfriend in the hospital.

In the mean time Tabitha meets Ty, the alpha of a tiger clan. He tells her she is to become one too and even a special one. She will be the queen and she is his mate, but somebody wants her death.

Some things were going really fast and there were some steamy moments between Ty and Tabitha.
The action was nice too.

But I just don't like cliffhangers, especially not that far in the story and the next story seems to have other main characters. that feels not right.

Tabitha

Tabitha lost her parents in an accident when she was only 1 years old. Raised in the foster care system she aged out at 18 and was given $500. Left on her own she found a job and moved into an apartment across the hall from her best friend Alice.

Last night Tabitha came home and found a letter on her door. Not feeling or sleeping well, she isn't in the mood for anything. She reads the note then takes a bath and goes to bed. Awaken from sleep by banging on her door Tabitha answers to find Alice beat to a bloody mess. Tabitha calls 911 to get help and goes with her to the hospital.

What will happen with Alice? What happens with the note Tabitha received?

Read as part of a Book #1 - #5 bind-up.

It didn't end -- it just stopped, so be prepared to get book #2 if you want to continue the story.

There are several inconsistencies and grammar/word choice issues, so multiple kinds of editing were needed.

It is entirely unclear how Ty knew that she was ready to change NOW since her father first changed at age 8 and Ty first changed at age 9. How did they know it would be 21 for her?

I thought Mike dating her best friend but never meeting her was just too big a coincidence and for no reason.

From unwanted to protected

I liked this story. The plot was good the characters engaging and it’s a story line that you know will continue on for some time. I was a little disappointed though because I felt a bit of a disconnect where normally I would find myself completely immersed in the story. I don’t know if it was me or the way the story was written, but The characters didn’t really come alive for me like my favorite books. That being said, I will still continue to read the rest of the series as I have found myself invested in what happens to the tiger clan.

Not only a cliffhanger, but no ending

Not only was this a cliffhanger with no warning (I hate not realizing it's a cliffhanger), but it ended so abruptly that I didn't even kniw it was over until I turned the page and there was a preview of the next book. I love tiger shifter books, but this one was missing so much. The h never even transitioned in this book. The writing was not great. Plus side there were no major editing issues. Overall this one was just blah, and I will not be reading the next (even with KU).

This book was embarrassingly bad. I thought about giving it two stars because I felt such pity for the author that she really believed this was worthy of being published. This was the book equivalent of a terrible B movie. The writing was so wooden and poorly thought out that it was literally painful to read. I have no problem with Insta-Love books, but I do have a big issue with dreck like this being published. Most shapeshifter books focus on wolves, so I was really hoping this would be better.

I just couldn’t do it. It was just SO rushed! In like 50 pages, the main character’s (tabitha’s) best friend was attacked, had a miscarriage, and was killed in the hospital; then tabitha’s “mate” shows up and they meet for the first time after he BREAKS INTO HER APARTMENT, tells her she’s a tiger shifter (which she accepts very calmly), and tells her they should move to Alaska to be with his clan.

BONUS, then she quits her job and they have sex. In less than 100 pages!!!

I mean c’mon!!

The book of Too Much Information.

When two lovers are about to go to bed, they normally don't deliver speeches in advance. In this book they do, and afterward they read a book telling them what to do next. Then he says "I will make a phone call to my friend, telling him bla-bla-bla." He takes his phone, dials his friend's number and start to repeat all he's said before.

Repetitive and bo-o-oring.

Aborted after 100 pages.

Love can help you adapt to anything.

This is the first of the Alaskan Tigers book where the alpha Ty finds Tabby the Queen of all Tigers just before she changes for the first time. Tabby is very headstrong and use to being independent so expect some good discussions in the future as Ty is use to being in charge and having his orders followed without question. A really great opening book of the series.

This was just an ok read. What I found annoying was that the story simply ends with no conclusion to anything that's taken place. Not even a cliffhanger. It's as if the printer or editor forgot to include the last few chapters. But it was a freebie read with the 2nd and 3rd books included. So we'll see if the situation improves.

It's the start for a nice and new series !
If you love a quick read, with lots of sweetness, some surprises and insta-love/insta-acceptance, you'll love it !
If you like a fast paced book with romance, shapeshifters and action, try it out, you won't be disappointed ! The only problem is that you'll want to read the next...quickly !

Tigers Rule

A great storyline, pulled me in and left me wanting to read more! The pace of the storyline seems a bit fast, but it has a wonderful grab. Characters have depth as you meet and get to know them better. Can’t wait to see what is in store for the main characters and the supporting characters. Well done🌺

Tabitha’s neighbor is beaten by her boyfriend and later dies. A stranger comes to visit her he’s there to rescues her. An old enemy of Tabitha and Ty is after her to kill her, he killed her father. Suddenly the killer is at the door and they are on the run. A really good book with good characters and a plot that holds your interest.

Interesting

It's not the first time I've read a shifter book like this and won't be my last as another reader pointed out. It dose end on a bit of a cliff hanger to continue the story on the next drawing you into the series which I will do eventually it's not the worst book I've read nor is it the best but there was something there that had me wanting to read it.

My first shifter story!

I am a big fan of cats including big cats and especially tigers. So I picked this book because I love Alaska also. Sounds perfect right? Well it was and I enjoyed it very much and recommend it highly. Also at the end go to bed website and join her newsletter and she will give you a free book! Thanks Marissa!

BIG CLIFFHANGER!!!

Good story, an interesting plot, strong heroine, but that cliffhanger... Thabita never changes into her tiger form, no one knows where Pierce is or what are he doing...
No matter that I love tigers I can bear stories with that kind of cliffhangers!
Three stars, just for the tigers...

I did enjoy the story. Things happened a little too quickly. I would have liked to learned more about the relationship between her and her girlfriend. It was a good story though. I did enjoy it.

This is a great start to a series. There is lots of action. There is sadness and hope and love. There are lots of characters to keep you guessing as to who is good and bad and I'm guessing there will be lots more of the same in the rest of the series.
