22-year-old Trinidadian, Nishal Sankat, breached a Security Fence at Orlando Melbourne International Airport in Florida around 2am on Thursday 20th September 2018 and boarded a vacant American Airlines Plane.
Sankat is a former Hillview College Student who is currently studying Aviation Management in Florida and has completed some Flight Training. He apparently left his car running in front of the Airport’s Passenger Terminal before his as-yet-unknown mission began. The Plane he boarded is large enough to hold up to two hundred (200) Passengers, but was out of service and blocked-in by Aircraft Chocks to prevent movement. Sankat was tackled by Technicians who were working on the Plane at the time. The Airport was placed on a lockdown that lasted until about 7am. All flights at the Airport, which handles about 500,000 Passengers a year, were suspended for about five (5) hours. Two (2) Flights from the Airport were also delayed. U.S Authorities charged Sankat with a criminal attempt to steal an Airplane, a VISA violation as well as criminal trespassing. See his photo below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
