Before That Night - Never have I read anything like Before That Night. There is no subterfuge the rawness of a life interrupted and the courageous actions of a woman at the brink of despair. Addison is a very meaty character. She leads this story like a mama bear protecting her cubs and faces unspeakable danger head on. Caine is her rock when her secrets and responsibilities become too much to bear. Caine is hardly a hero, he has his own demons to bear but for a while he becomes Addison's soft place to fall. Before That Night provides a glimpse at subjects like homelessness, alcoholism and obsession while delivering an organic story of love and hope. My one pet peeve is that I didn't get my happy ending. Every Night Without You - Ms. Duke made some surprising reveals and gave some heartbreaking answers to the questions left unanswered in Before That Night. This time around I felt more focus being put on the mysterious stalker than the romantic liaison. With all the baggage shoveled her way, it was nice to see Addison finally get the closure and happy ending she so richly deserved.

Unfinished Night is a two volume series chronicling the relationship of Caine and Addison. Having these stories in a bundle is fantastic – enjoy the roller coaster ride to Caine and Addison’s HEA! Before That Night – Book 1 Many times I am not a fan of cliffhangers, but anything with Violet Duke's name on it is going to get me to read it even if I do have to wait for the conclusion! The great thing is, with this being in the duet, you don’t have to wait! Addison Milan has not had an easy life and at only 19 years old, that is saying something. When Addison's Mom fails to do right by Addison's younger siblings, instead of whining and complaining as some 19 year olds would, she pulled up her boot straps and did what had to be done. She got a job and made a list of all of the things that had to happen to give her brother and sister the best life she could. Things were going pretty well for the better part of a year and then things took a turn. Caine Spencer is a cop who stops by the diner where Addison works on his breaks during his shift since it's conveniently right across from the precinct. Caine begins to take notice of Addison and she also begins to take notice of her. Over the course of the next period of time, they begin to innocently flirt and Caine appreciates the fact that Addison not only works hard at her job, but also at taking care of her family. When a stalker threatens Addison's life and also spills secrets that she's been desperately trying to keep, everything in her life changes. Things become very complicated and the beliefs of some are put into question. Violet Duke created a story that I did not want to put down. It was sweet, sexy and emotional. I felt like I really knew the characters and I'm very anxious to see how their story concludes in the second book. Every Night Without You – Book 2 After I finished the first book in this duet, Before That Night, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the conclusion. I had to know what happened with Caine and Addison and the story was worth the wait! It has been seven years since Addison left Caine after one of, if not the best night, of her life. She knew she had to leave to keep Caine safe and to make sure that she and her brother, Tanner and sister, Kylie, were safe from the man that was trying desperately to terrorize her. Addison has done the best she can putting her life back together even though she's missing one of the biggest pieces by having left Caine behind. She'd like nothing more than to be with him again, but she knows it's not safe. For Caine, he's spent the last seven years being a cop by day and trying to track, David, the man who is after Addison, by night. What Addison isn't counting on is Caine seeing her. Realizing that she has been in the same area as him for who knows how long, he pulls her over and uses his profession as a cop to finally lay eyes on the woman he's missed and longed for for so many years. While Addison still wants to keep her distance to keep Caine safe, he's had enough and he's not going to allow the woman he loves to be away from him again. Will David finally be caught allowing Caine and Addison to have the life they've always dreamed of, or will he slip through the cracks once again? Violet Duke has a way of putting a story together that takes you on a roller coaster. There are peaks and valleys of emotions, there are turns you don't see coming and in the end the ride is totally worth it! I highly recommend you pick up this duet – you won’t be sorry!
