London trial lawyer Gen has managed to corral that randy colt His Lordship Arthur Finch-Hatten, the Earl of Severn, at least as far as anyone knows. In public, he seems to be behaving himself, but she’s kind of gotten involved with her client in a way that the Bar’s Ethics Committee would totally not approve of. With Arthur’s impending trial in the House of Lords and the constant backstabbing in her law office, the last thing Gen needs is for Arthur to whisk her off to Paris for the social wedding of the century to schmooze the people who will decide his fate.

Gen has broken all the rules, and she could very well end up with a broken heart.

She needs a stiff drink, and it had better be hard liquor.

Hard Liquor
is the exciting conclusion to the Arthur Duet that begins with Stiff Drink.

Blair Babylon is the nom de plume of an award-winning, USA Today-bestselling author who used to publish literary fiction. Because professional reviews of her other fiction usually included the caveat that there was too much deviant sex and too much interesting plot, she decided to abandon all literary pretensions, let her freak flag fly, and write hot, sexy, erotic romance.

Hard Liquor is the second installment in Blair Babylon’s Arthur Duet and is the continuation of Arthur Finch-Hatten and Genevieve Ward’s story. Genevieve, “Gen”, is a junior lawyer, in the first term of her law practical training. As it happens, her future as a British trial lawyer, a barrister, rests on the difficult case of Lord Arthur Finch-Hatten, a privileged billionaire rascal, used to getting his way and nicknamed the earl of Givesnofucks. He is sued by his younger brother for possession of the family’s title and estates.

Arthur and Gen are involved with one another despite the professional risks such a relationship entails for Gen. She intends to win his case and save him from ruin. It’s more and more apparent that Arthur has two faces and a lot of secrets. Gen has caught glimpses of the intense and serious man he is. She didn’t expect the depth of the feelings he has for her, but she knows Arthur is holding back a part of his life. He is not the person he seems to be. She feels safe with him, though, and tries to live for the moment. Arthur finds himself between a rock and a hard place, the choices he had to make were heartbreaking. I loved the intensity of this story, the plot was engrossing and I could not put this book down. Both characters were well-developed and engaging, I definitely rooted for them!

When the truths are finally revealed, they are explosive. Blair Babylon has worked her magic with words and delivered a clever romance loaded with secrets and intrigue, that I devoured almost in one sitting!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.

Hard Liquor
Runaway Billionaires: Arthur Duet, Book 2 🎧
By: Blair Babylon
Narrated by: John Lane 🎤
Length: 9 hrs and 49 mins

Omg, this book blew my socks off!! It made me cry so many times & only Tryp has accomplished that before, wow!!😭 You get to see the 'true' heart of Arthur in this book. His loyalty to his Crown & Country, above even himself, puts your heart through the ringer ... you've been warned.👑💥

Gen & Arthur pull ever closer, it's become clear it is the real deal for them both. He opens himself up to her like he's never done with anyone before, it's beautiful!!💕 Gen finally learns to trust that he's being genuine with her heart so once she's all in, its on like donkey Kong.😉 She makes two very important calls in utter fear & desperation! ☎

Casimir & Maxence are true brothers to Arthur throughout this book, They have his back, even in his goodbyes!💔😭 Gen is heroic in fighting for him & her two besties step up for her, thankfully. But when the time comes for Arthur to willingly face his 'Masters', Well, she might just have met the floor!😳😭💥

Blair absolutely killed it with this book. She took Arthur, Gen & their story to levels I didn't anticipate. The courtroom drama in the Lord's was fantastic, it was true 'edge of the seat' nail biting tension. The twists, turns & holes that had been dug, Well, I had no clue how the Author could possibly rescue our Hero from them!!😲🙈

I've read the E-book of this Duet too so I can, in all confidence, say that the Audio Narrator did an excellent job of all of the characters, but his 'Arthur' was outstanding!!😍🔥 He did an amazing job of ramping up the drama, romance, steam or heart break, as needed!! I was extremely impressed throughout!🌟

Christopher Finch-Hatton is a jealous, loathsome little bug!🐛 I can't stand Elizabeth either!!🔪😡 I just needed to get that off of my chest!😡😉

Go ahead, lose yourself in these Runaway Billionaires. They're so worth it & much more than they show the world on the surface!!🌟🙏👑

Lol

Being a Brit' I thought she did an amazing job with this Duet, As a reader I thought it was some of the best writing I've ever read!!!

You'd be MAD to miss Arthur's story, seriously!! 😃 I can't wait for Flicka & Max to get their stories, I know they're percolating in Blair's amazing brain, YAY!! 😉

When you find your heart completely lost to a tumultuously stunning plot whose characters intertwine and ignite a firestorm that razes and implodes your very world, you KNOW you have found an epically talented author who owns every ounce of your reading devotion to the end of time. Hard Liquor is utter perfection with its sizzling mystery, undeniable passion, and mind-blowing twists that catapult it into the realm of fantastically, true bliss. This is romantic suspense at its absolute finest! If you are looking for a refined yet genre-blasting story that will feed your intelligence along with your heart, then you have found the object of your obsession. Blair Babylon will feed your passion and set your imagination alight with her limitless possibilities and awe-inspiring imagination.

On one side of a gaping, bottomless chasm, we have a woman who has learned to claw and sweat for every single inch of ground that she has gained to rise from the bottom of her mountain. She knows better than most the value of hard work and the wonder and satisfaction of earning each milestone that she has risen above. She is heading up the ladder of her aspirations, and nothing and no one will slow her down or stop her. On the opposite side, we have a man who lives life on the edge of society while charming everyone to stay in their good graces. His life appears to be charmed, but he is forced to even relinquish even a small amount of control to another, he is forced to see that not everyone is as simple as he once thought. Complexity is just a swirl of shadow and misdirection that swallows up the simple as seen by the mindless masses, but all it takes is one person to clear the mist that hides the very essence of a broken and lovely soul. Can love truly conquer the endless darkness between these two, or will the strict rules of life be the end of all that we have only just begun to see and understand?

If any good advice exists, it would be to allow your heart to lead. Even as contrite as that might sound, it will not allow you to disappear in the dark shadows never to be seen from again. It will dare to pull you from your bed of quicksand and put your feet on solid ground. Our fantastic characters found this out the hard way. They were forced to trust blindly in the other especially against their better judgment. The courage and strength that they possessed is a true inspiration to the chaos and anger that swirls around us every day. Staying true to yourself will be the greatest test and accomplishment that you will ever achieve in your lifetime. Don’t underestimate those around you, and don’t let them fall away into despair. Grab their hand and pull them back to reason and hope before it’s too late.

Blair Babylon is a testament to the extraordinary beauty, grace, and talent that is quickly fading around us. More than anything, we long to experience the pure and living creation that is well written and heart imbued hope in the form of words breathed into the universe that will eventually find its way in our very soul. Readers can breathe a sigh of contentment and relief to ingest and savor the incredibly soul nourishing and heart transforming words from this spectacular author. I have yet to read anything from her that doesn’t touch me deeply and sincerely every time I pick up one of her breathtaking masterpieces.

Disappointing

I have only read I book by this author. I thoroughly enjoyed Working Stiff and was anxious to read Arthur's story.

1. Arthur's story was released as 2 books, not released simultaneously. I hate that. Don't leave me hanging to wait to finish a story

2. This had an extremely convoluted plot, with a cast of many. Too many characters and a disjointed storyline distracted me and made the story too unbelievable.

3. Too much graphic sex and a BDSM storyline, which I skimmed over since it brought little to the story

4. While we saw a lot of Cash and Max, conveniently Cash's wife made no appearance in this book. He sure had a lot of time to run all over the world with Arthur, leaving his pregnant wife at home. An example of the unbelievable storyline

I ended up slogging through this one with little enjoyment, save for relief it was over

Loved this book!...couldn't put it down.
This was book #2 in a duet - even better than book #1, Stiff Drink.
Contemporary story about a young Texan female barrister & a hot mysterious Earl set in London, England.
Well developed main characters with lots of chemistry, well written, witty, some intrigue & sense of danger, interesting scenes in London law firm, gripping British court scenes, some HR vibes with H protecting his Spencer family legacy.... Slooow burn. 5★+

5 star Review Hard Liquor (Runaway Billionaires #2: Arthur Duet #2) by Blair Babylon

AUDIO REVIEW:

The conclusion to the Arthur Duet so if you haven’t read or listened to Stiff Drink then STOP and do so before you continue with Hard Liquor.

Having read/listened to a couple of books by Blair Babylon I enjoy her style of writing. Her characters are quirky and easy to relate too. Narrator John Lane, certainly brought Hard Liquor to life for me and had me swooning on various occasions. His voice was spot on in my opinion for Arthur Finch-Hatten and I enjoyed the variety of voices he used for the multiple characters, even the female ones.

Having listened to Stiff Drink I have been anxiously awaiting the conclusion to this duet and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the pairing of Genevieve(Gen) and Arthur and it was great to see some familiar characters pop up within the story.

Will Gen loose everything she has worked so hard for as she continues to become more and more involved with Arthur, or will the stress break them up? Will Arthur realize in time what he is giving up for the love of his country?

Hard Liquor is a well written, witty, suspenseful, romantic and at times steamy book that was an entertaining listen and I was totally invested from the first to the last chapter.

Brilliantly done conclusion to Arthur and Gen's story. Well written, with all the touches necessary to make this an outstanding story! Blair Babylon shows that she can write such detailed and complex storylines, interweaving characters from past and future books, that make this an exciting read. Because of this, books should be read in the recommended order. This book does have all the "feels" and I am looking forward to reading the next book in her large catalog.

Finally this book is out so I could dig in and devour it in a sec. I was so happy but anxious at the same time due to the way that the last book ended.
One thing that you need to know is that if you haven't read Stiff Drink you need to do it asap because that book is the first book from this duet.
Hard Liquor continues to tell the stories of Gen and Arthur.
They had a bumpy journey on the first book and I just need to tell you to get ready for a bumpy ride.
I thought that this book was going to be like a walk at the beach but I was so wrong.
We suffer blow after blow that makes us question everything.
Can they overcome their obstacles? Can they give into love and desire? Or will everything end in a sec?
I'm not going to say another word about this book because I don't spoil but be ready people...
I loved the plot, loved the interaction between the characters. And what I loved the most was that things were happening in a way so intense that knock the air out of my lungs.
Seriously Blair?? You wanna kill me or something? I was a nerve rack while reading this book, I was also sad, happy, mad.
Dayum woman the hot scenes...
I'm in love with your writting and I want more and more from you so please tell me when will I have a new book?

The author asked me to review this book for them.

2 stars

I want to address these are my least favorite reviews to do. I know how hard an author works on a book and it frustrates me when I can't enjoy the book the author put their time into. This book was different than what I expected. I really wanted to enjoy it. My problem was I found the wording very hard for me to understand at times and some of the situations didn't make sense to me. I want to give you as much of a review as I can but I barely made it to 15 percent of the book. I don't know if it was because I didn't read the first book or if it was not my type of book but the characters did not make the book for me. Their chemistry felt off and they did not seem to connect like I would like them too. I feel awful writing this review and want to apologize for it.

I do hope that the author finds an audience for this book and any others she has written, unfortunately I just did not enjoy it.

5 stars PLUS!!!

Blair Babylon continues her winning streak with her second book in the Runaway Billionaires series and Arthur Finch-Hatten’s second book, Hard Liquor, along with her unbelievable writing, her suspense filled plot and her deeply flawed, but amazingly deep, rich characters! No two characters have had me enthralled and panting for more as Arthur Finch-Hatten, Earl of Severn and Geneviève Ward, Pupil Barrister at Serle’s Court Chambers.

Hard Liquor picks up immediately after the conclusion of Stiff Drink with our characters still deeply entwined with one another and still fighting through the bureaucratic nightmare of Arthur’s lawsuit to keep his aristocratic title. Ms. Babylon did not take the easy way out in concluding their love story. She keeps the twists and turns coming with every page turn. In fact, at every turn, I was surprised with the direction of this storyline and where it led our main characters. Arthur, who is struggling with the lawsuit filed by his younger brother to abscond with his elder brother’s noble title, is still hiding secrets from our lovely pupil barrister, Geneviève Ward. Geneviève continues as Arthur’s lawyer and also with her struggles of her deeply troubled past; however, now she is slowly starting to blossom under Arthur’s tutelage and affection. And our hot as sin Earl? He is beginning to realize that Geneviève might be more than just a convenient woman to have a “fake” relationship with in order to fool the media as to who he really is. It’s a fake relationship that is quickly becoming very, very real for Arthur and Geneviève.

This book is a romance story that rivals some of the most intriguing book series out there (and you know which one I mean)! Ahhh, a rich story steeped in mystery; a love affair so hot that at times you almost couldn’t hold the book to read; and the intriguing depth to Arthur’s and Geneviève’s pasts…..this is the stuff perfect books are made of.

As we hurdle towards the future with these two characters, we begin to realize that their chance to be together is colliding with their past and even threatening their very lives!! This is a book I simply couldn’t put down until the VERY LAST PAGE! A book that I kept looking for more pages to read even after “The End.” We want more of them Ms. Babylon!!! Couldn’t we have another book like “Fine Wine” to show us where these characters are in their Camelot future together??? Just a thought!!

An advanced reader copy was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

A satisfying end to the duet.... so we ended the last book with Gen thinking she had 'tamed' Arthur but him getting called out of bed to go do whatever it is that he does... this book starts with preparing for his appearance between the Lords Committee that should be able to sort out whether or not he is the rightful Earl, whether or not he is a drunken sot as his brother alleges. Gen keeps trying to figure things out.... Arthur is good at deflecting but Gen is a barrister and barristers are trained at that sort to detect that sort of behavior. Right before the Lords Committee appearance, they host a dinner at Spencer House, Arthur's ancestral home, for members of the Committee. Shortly after, they go to Pierre and Flicka's royal wedding to try to influence other voting members of the Committee. Casimir and Maxence are there to help, as well as Christine (Xan/Alex/Alexandre's sister) and they all work the party all night to gain support for Arthur all night.

WELL... right before the meeting in the House of Lords,Arthur's brother's takes ads in all the papers with pictures of Arthur with various heads of state... and these heads of states are not the ones a fine upstanding member of the British aristocracy would want to be seen with.... Arthur wants to give the estate to Christopher (because he knows how much danger everyone is in by Christopher releasing those photos). Gen reluctantly agrees. As they are leaving, Arthur is to get into a MI6 white van and Gen is to leave with Caz and Max but a mysterious assassin tried to shoot Gen. All hell breaks loose and since Caz and Max are constantly covered by security, everyone is bundled in their SUVs and they head to ... the Devilhouse! (I love how these books come together). Wulf is in NJ but Arthur, Caz, Max and Gen are made to feel at home. (and for someone who is going to be a priest, Max is just a bit to familiar with the place...).

Gen and Arthur declare their love for each other in Play Room 5 and fly off to Vegas the next day to make it official. THEN they get the call that they need to get back to London as the Lord Committee is ready to decide. Wulf lends them his plane (you know - the one with the bedroom in the back!)

They land in London - and Gen totally turns the tables on Christopher. But when it comes out where he got the pictures from, everyone was in shock.

Caz orchestrated a big event at his embassy that night to help clear Arthur's name that night.

Everyone gets a HEA - including Ruckus... remember how he kept being locked in closets? we find out why!

Loved seeing more of the whole Max/Caz/Arthur relationship in this altho Max came off way creepier in this than in Working Stiff... I imagine we will learn why in when get his own book!

I really enjoyed the first book in Arthur's duology, but this one was even better!

It was exhilarating to see Gen's growth: she started out in book 1 as a frightened and insecure woman and barrister, and by the end of book two she was a kickass heroine. Arthur turned out to be immensely sweet and loving, and at the same time really sexy. Their love was very solid all throughout the story.

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but be prepared for a badass fight in court at the end of the book (or rather, infront of the House of Lords committee), where Ruckus the dog plays an exhilarating role. We also get a lot of scenes with Arthur's friends Casimir and Maxence which were at times sweet and at times funny (they go to the Devilhouse at some point and it was really amusing). Can't wait to read more about our favourite characters, and I have a suspicion that we'll read more about Maxence in Flicka's book.... Ms. Babylon teases us a bit with these two and gives us small glimpses of future plots with Flicka, Maxence and Pierre Grimaldi (we see the Grimaldi wedding, initially described in Rae and Wulf's story, from Arthur's, Gen's, Maxence's and Casimir's point of view). As a matter of fact, although you don't need to read the Rae and Wulf books, nor Casimir's book, before reading Arthur's story, I definitely suggest you start at the beginning so that you get the full experience and really understand all the links between characters. If, like me, you read them all in order, you'll end up loving all these characters just like a real family.

I received and ARC by the author for an honest review.

I will ALWAYS raise a glass for BLAIR BABYLON!!!

First, allow me to start off by saying that I LOVE BLAIR BABYLON!! I love her stories. I especially love all of the many , many adorably funny ,sexy moments that her characters find themselves a part of. In this continues of STIFF DRINK , Arthur , and Gen find themselves on the road to love and happily - ever-after abruptly interrupted, and many curves and hilly, windy ,rough roads dead ahead. I love how Arthur is not What the seems, and that he is willing and able to , " go down with the Ship" , and all that entails . He is first and foremost a "Gentlemen" , and a little bit of kink never hurt anyone 😆. Some of those MAR VEL OUS scenes i am definitely gonna try !!
I Adore the way that all of these characters are so connected to each other on a peripheral sort of basis , and we , the readers , get to step into BLAIR BABYLON 'S world where all of these stories are told in the same time period , but from different points of view, and she keeps it ALL straight . Of course, you can read them separately, and it will still be an excellent read, but together, you receive a clear picture of and understanding of this wonderful world that BLAIR BABYLON has made. And as for me , personally, I NEVER want to leave !! If you are looking for an incredible story, that you will want to read over, and over ,and over again, then I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this series, this Author , and Arthur -Finch- Hatten and his Gen !!!

What a perfect way to end the duet! Gen and Arthur’s relationship is steamier now that they’ve become a real couple, and they have to face so many obstacles that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time--and I couldn’t put the book down.

The repetitions are still here, but it didn’t bother me that much, because I enjoyed following the characters in their thrilling new adventures. There’s a bit more angst in this one, and you can’t help but feel for Genevieve and Arthur.

I loved how their relationship develops, the dynamics between them--although there’s just one Dom, he isn’t always the one in control or with the power. There are a lot of emotionally charged moments that left me breathless.

The characters show yet another side of them in this second book--that I won’t spoil. Just know that they become even more complex and interesting.

I was sad to leave them at the end of the book, and I hope I’ll be able to meet them again in another one.

Quickie

Series: Runaway billionaires #3, Arthur duet #2 (no cliffhanger)

Hashtags: #billionaire romance #bad boy #curvy girl #romantic suspense #Dom/sub relationship

Trigger: depiction of someone in a hospital, mention of rape

Main couple: Genevieve Ward & Lord Arthur Finch-Hatten, Earl of Severn

Hotness: 5/5

Romance: 5/5

+ I enjoyed the courtroom scenes

- I didn’t think the Dom/sub relationship fitted this couple (even though it made THAT SCENE stand out)

Gen is trying to gain tenancy, and her test is to win the most difficult case the law firm is handling, while trying to make sure that her mother is well cared for after her stroke. She has a brilliant mind, but will it be enough?

Arthur is fighting his brother over the family’s Earldom, trying hard not to fall in love with Gen, and keep his other job “under wraps”. He’s a notorious playboy, wastrel on the outside, but so much more on the inside!

Blair is an amazing author and always keeps you on the edge of your seat with the twists and turns, the unbelievable suspense and hot (and sometimes kinky) love scenes. She is a master at developing characters, making you believe there is no way that the story will end well, then BAM a new twist to put you back on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen next. It’s awesome that she weaves the characters from other series into each story for more depth. As always, she leaves you wanting more.

Arthur and Gen’s story is no different. Blair had me laughing at some of the outrageous things that happened, scared to death for the next person’s safety, crying over what might have been, and loving all of the hot romance.

I can’t wait to see what adventures she will have in store for us in Flicka’s story!

I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review, but also purchased this book.

The Saga of Arthur and Geneviève continues. Hard Liquor picks up directly after the ending of Stiff Drink. Our favorite characters are deeply entwined in each other's lives. Arthur, our notorious playboy, is trying not to fall in love with Geneviève (Gen), only from the outside. Meanwhile, he is opposing the lawsuit and the red-tape to keep his title and earldom. Genis is still Arthurs's lawyer and, with her brilliant mind, is defending him while she is dealing with issues from her past.

Their journey to love is a winding road but one of passion and mutual desire. Honestly, I couldn't get enough! Arthur and Gen's connection is charged, sensual combined with serious steam and BDSM elements.

Blair Babylon is a talented author and an exceptional storyteller; she has a way with words, capturing and holding the attention of her readers/listeners. Her characters are captivating, and her plots are addictive. Her stories are packed with twists and turns. This time around, I was surprised where she lead the characters.

A stellar performance by John Lane. He really captures the nuances of the characters, the emotions and the chemistry, breathing life into the story. I savored every minute of this epic conclusion to the duet. Hard Liquor is a must-read, and I highly recommend the entire series.

Blair Babylon is one of my very favorite authors, which is why I’m on her advanced-reader team, and each time I read one of her books I'm reminded why. Hard Liquor is no exception.

This one had me in tears several times and kept me in suspense throughout. When I finally finished, I was breathless. I was worried there might be some loose ends, but Blair is the consummate professional and left no questions unanswered. I was glad to see the closet door issue resolved.

As always with Blair Bablyon, there are a few quotes from this book that stood out for me:

Her bones barely lifted the quilt that covered her, and Gen had the sudden idea that even the blanket might snap her fragile bones. Maybe even the weight of the sunlight might be too much for her.

In the end, you’re just a soul riding a meat-covered skeleton, clinging to a rock that is hurtling through space.

Stalin said dark humor is like food. Not everybody gets it.

There's a bit of kink in this book but nothing too much for the squeamish. I highly recommend this book, just as I do every book from Blair Babylon. I’d write more, because I seriously LOVED this book, but I don’t want to give you a recap of the plot (which would be a waste of everyone’s time). Just read it!

Audio book review
Book 2 in the series . This is the third book in the Runaway Billionaires , The author Blair Babylon will grab your attention. Lots going on with Arthur and Gen . You will also see cameos with Casmir and Max . Casmir Audio is with Joe Arden . You will need to grab the first book in Stiff Drink since this one takes off where book 1 left off .
The hero Arthur is an earl and his brother Christopher is trying to take everything away from him. The earldom and everything that goes with it . Arthur might seem like a drunk, a wastrel , or his 2 best friends might call him , the Earl of no £ucks .
Heroine is Gen . She has a fear because she was $exual attacked earlier in her life. Arthur slowly allows her to open up and they slowly rely on each other . After a night in Paris some damaging pictures are leaked out showing Arthur is a trailer. Both Arthur and Gen need to do some damage control. Grab it and see who leaked those pictures to Christopher. Does Arthur get to keep the Earldom. How does Gen fair in all of this

John Lane performance was fantastic. He did Arthur British part fantastic. He also did Gen America part perfectly .

Blair writing the British words were great

As soon as I started reading part one of this duet, I had a feeling that Blair Babylon had outdone herself, and sure enough, part two confirmed that and then some. The continuation of the saga of Arthur and Gen is jammed packed with so much action and suspense, all in "James Bond" fashion, complete with spies, good guys and of course, the bad guys, that once you start to read, there's absolutely no going back, or stopping! And lets not forget the moment when Gen and Arthur are both enlightened, as they realize just how much love they share, and the trust that each gives the other. OMG! I just couldn't get enough of these two, even though part two was quite a bit longer than the first episode, it would appear that I could have read about this duo forever and ever. Ms. Babylon has such a way with words that she manages to suck you into the story, grabbing you and making you feel like you are one of the characters. Definitely a must read! Now, if we can tame the mysterious Maxence, we should be in for a new treat.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.

Worth The Wait!!!

Arthur and Gen's conclusion will blow you away!!!! Well worth the wait, Blair Babylon kept me turning the page to find out what could possibly happen next. Just when you think you have it figured out the next twist in the story will have you gasping for breath. In true Blair fashion you will be reunited with characters from previous stories and intrigue for future stories. As with all books by Blair you are drawn to the characters with a force that won't let you go until the end but the story stays with you long afterwards. In Arthur and Gen's story when things are going as should be, deception rares it ugly head and Gen has to plow ahead with all her might without giving away parts of Arthur's true self and hope for the best. Arthur is willing to give up everything to protect Gen while his heart is breaking. You must read the conclusion to Arthur and Gen's story to find out what happens, you'll be glad you did. Can't wait to see what Blair has in store for Flicka!!!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
Thank you Blair Babylon

In “Hard Liquor” barrister Genevieve Ward and the notorious playboy Earl of Severn, Arthur Finch-Hatten have jetted off to Paris for another big bash of a party. This second book in the Arthur Duet gives the reader much more than a peek into this unlikely couple. But things are not always as they seem. Is Lord Severn the useless dilettante he so aptly portrays? Or does he have another persona that few are privy to? What started as a sham relationship between Gen and Arthur quickly heats up from a simmer to a full rolling boil. And they not only have to worry about possible sanctions from the bar association’s Ethics Committee because of their relationship. Now rumors and even newspaper headlines are calling into question Arthur’s loyalty to England. These complications give hefty weight to the final book in the duet and is far more satisfying than the first. There’s plenty of bedroom romance, some of which is borderline BDSM. But there’s also political intrigue and suspense aplenty that makes for a most satisfying read for this lover of romantic suspense. Five full stars.

★★★½ By Blair Babylon My review I have a hard time rating this book. One of my favourite things about Blair's books is how she brings her characters to life. They stay with me even after I close the book, I think about them, reread certain scenes etc. Unfortunately, I didn't feel connected to neither Arthur nor Gen. The story was interesting and well done, but after reading Working Stiff and Rae, this one fell a bit flat. I have a hard time rating this book. Loved this conclusion to Arthur's story. It had me laughing, crying, cheering and fanning myself depending on where I was in the story. As with the first book in the series, once I started reading I didn't want to put the book down. As with Blair's other stories, it is well thought out, well edited, story line makes sense and moves along at a nice pace. She gives enough details to pull you into the story and develop strong feelings about the characters - some you really like and some you really don't. I love the strong female character, Gen, who stands by her convictions and won't give up on what and in whom she believes. Is the road easy? Absolutely not. Is it worth it in the end? You'll have to read to find out. Let's just say I wasn't disappointed. I was gifted with a copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving a review. I have read most of Blair's stories and have read most more than once...that's how much I enjoy her style of writing.

The steamy and twisty conclusion to Stiff Drink

This book is the conclusion of Arthur and Gwen’s story that started in Stiff Drink. Trust me, you’ll need some Hard Liquor after reading this book. It’s amazing detailed, enticing and exciting to read. It twists and turns and invites you into a world that is bright and shiny on the outside and dark and mysterious on the inside. Find out what Arthur is hiding and whether he will win his case against his brother trying to steal the Earldom from him. What lengths does he have to go to in order to be with Gwen? I literally couldn’t put the book down! On top of all the twists and turns you get to see glimpses of characters from Blair’s other books as Arthur interacts with them. This book takes place chronologically before Rae, Lizzy and Georgie’s books, even though it was written after those books. It offers glimpses of those characters before they were given their happy endings. Enjoy!

This book is Hard Liquor: Runaway Billionaires #3, written by Blair Babylon. This book continues the story of Author the Lord of Severn and Genevieve, his assigned pupil barrister. Author's brother is trying to have him declared incompetent so he can take over as the Lord of Severn. What ensues is a lengthy and painful battle and Gen is thrown right into the middle. This story was amazing in all of the twisted nuances and unpredictable outcomes. Did I forget to mention that Author is deep into the BDSM scene?? Super hot and kinky fun scenes occur. . I am now suffering from lack of sleep because I just couldn't put it down. Lol. Ms Babylon always delivers with her books! Don't miss this series!! I received a complimentary advance readers copy and chose voluntarily chose to leave this review.

What an emotional roller coaster of a book!
I don’t think I’ve ever been this anxious for a book to come out, but when I got to the end of Stiff Drink I was counting the days, and Hard Liquor did not disappoint! I don’t like spoilers in reviews, so don’t expect any here. What you CAN expect is to be put through the emotional ringer before the HEA. I don’t recall ever spending so much time crying and laughing in the same book. Now I need to go re-read the entire series since this book has helped my brain wrap around some of the plot lines in her other books. I absolutely LOVE that her stories tie together but not so much that you’re lost if you miss one or read them out of order. I did receive an ARC of this in exchange for my honest review, which I have wholeheartedly provided. I also pre-ordered the book BEFORE receiving the ARC because I wanted it THAT MUCH!

Arthur is compromised and he seduces Gen and they spend 10 days together but then his brother releases photos that were never meant to see the light of day... The trial is heard in the House of Lords and although Arthur initially withdraws his defence... circumstances take them to the Devilhouse and then onto Vegas ... he is convinced his days are numbered ... she is equally determined to defend him in spite of his assertions.
She is magnificent in ripping Christopher to shreds and old friends reestablish his worth to his handlers.... ‘he is one of us’ a theme played in both courts.
A new addition to the family is welcomed.

Incredible story telling

Every line in this story has a reason. Every character has a purpose to describe mood, place, character or passion. Ms Babylon’s writing is exquisite in its detail and historical references. Her main characters are breathed to life. Her hero Arthur has many depths and layers that are revealed through the two books
in the story. Her heroine Genevieve, “Gen” evolves from a broken women fighting to regain her strength after a rape, and learning to navigate a culture she was not totally reared in to a force to be contained with. The relationship in the first book of the series is beautifully detailed and evolved it becomes more passionate in the second book. If you like spy thrillers and psychological drama with lovers against the world this is excellent. I’ve become addicted and can’t stop reading about this world.

Arthur's story of intrigue continues with Hard Liquor. The author continues her string of excellent stories with more James Bond style humor, action, and sex. Arthur and Gen are up to their necks in how to save his honor and title, AND his dog! Characters from other stories are woven in, and new characters are introduced, which makes it feel like a family reunion. And just as awkward at times! Arthur is loyal to a fault to his friends and his country, which almost leads to his downfall, but Gen figures out a way to rescue him without saying what has to be said. As a reader, you're transported where the common man, and some titled men, don't get to go. I always wondered what goes on in the secret sessions of government! I can't wait for the next story in the series!!

This installation of Arthur and Gen's story is a bit better than the last two stories. However, and I can't stress this enough, if the author eliminated some of the sex and compressed this 4-installment story into one book, she would have had a best seller. The plot is fantastic, but these types of stories should have X-rated warnings in the title lines.
I do believe that whatever happens in the bedroom of two consenting adults is permissible and its none of anyone else's business. I also don't have a problem with it being in a book, but I do want to know, before I purchase the book, what I'll be reading. So *WARNING* S/M, S/D sex is in this story.
Again, the plot is fantastic, the writing needs improvement, and this author isn't for the general public.
