Product Description

The White Rice is Atkin Guitars’ stunning take on a truly unique instrument. Inspired by Tony Rice’s mythical D-28, it offers unbelievably organic tones and a distinct appearance that’s guaranteed to turn heads.

Premium Dreadnought Design

US Bluegrass legend Tony Rice is the proud owner of a 1935 Martin D-28 with a unique twist. Its broader soundhole, vibrant tortoiseshell pickguard and beautifully golden top are a sight to behold. Then there’s the sound; many believe that it’s the best-sounding D-28 in the world.

It’s only fitting, then, that Atkin Guitars wanted to pay homage to this legendary instrument; the White Rice is their faithful tribute. A Sitka Spruce top and East Indian Rosewood sides ensure stunning projection with a rich dynamic response. The larger soundhole adds heaps of power – this guitar delivers an unmistakably commanding tone.

Finish & Electronics Options

Atkin offer two types of finish for all of their guitars: aged and mirror finish. Both are nitrocellulose, but as the name suggests, the former has been painstakingly aged for that vintage vibe. It's also worth noting that while none of the Atkins come with built-in electronics, we'll happily fit some for you. The recommended systems are as follows:

Handmade in Britain

Based in Canterbury, UK, Atkin Guitars proudly offer a range of stunning hand-built acoustic guitars. Their highly-acclaimed instruments are widely considered some of the best on the market, and come with a certificate of authenticity and a lifetime warranty.

Founded in 1995 by Alister Atkin, the aim of the game is uncompromising tone. While all of Atkin’s instruments are handmade, they aren’t afraid to experiment with modern technology. This combination of traditional luthiery and an open-minded approach yields the same results time after time; the ultimate acoustic guitar experience.

As well as their core line, Atkin offer custom builds and are happy to take requests. If you've got any questions about tweaks to your Atkin acoustic, please get in touch with us.
