Redemption and Forgiveness

He didn’t want children.
She couldn’t imagine a life without them—
especially now.

Gabe:
I should have stayed away from her. I knew better.
But instead, I treated every single day like it was my birthday,
and she was a luscious devil’s food cake slathered in creamy icing.

Helena:
I’d spent my entire life being cautious, never took any real risks.
And I did it to shield the people I loved from needless worry.
To protect them.
I’m the sensible sister.

Redemption and Forgiveness

There are few occasions in one’s life where the body warns of impending doom.
This was one of them.

Unforgettable was the first book I’ve read by Eva Charles and I have to tell you- it was AMAZING.

I honestly mean that.

I started it and couldn’t stop. One day. I read it in one day. I took my kindle everywhere I went, reading and reading. Engrossed in the story.

There is a lot to the story and Eva writes about it all in a way that sucks you in like you won’t believe. You won’t come up for air. For. Real.

Unforgettable has it all. We have the hot sexy male character that I love (Gabe). We have family and their dynamic and banter. We have passion and romance. We have loss and heartbreak. We have the whole gamut of emotions.

The writing, the plot, the dialogue, the characters- all of it is so well developed, thought out and executed to perfection.

Gabe is hot as hell. OMG that man. He does have some issues, yes. But God is he sexy. And Helena is fantastic. They are opposites but are so perfect. All of their interactions and dialogue were spot on and I loved watching them through it all- all the good and the bad.

The story does deal with a topic that is heartbreaking and a loss is suffered. I write that to let you know in advance, not as a spoiler. But Eva writes about it in such a beautiful and touching way that even though its’ sad and devastating, it’s also bearable.

I cannot recommend this book enough. It is an absolute MUST READ!!!

Let me start by saying I didn’t think Eva Charles could make one of her books any more emotional than Petite Madeleine and was I mistaken, Unforgettable was a tear jerker. When I started reading Unforgettable I had to go back to Eva’s previous books to recheck that they were in third person as I remembered and they were; but she wrote Unforgettable in the first person after a few chapters I understood why. I don’t think as a reader you could feel the emotions and feelings both Helena and Gabe were going through, and boy did they, if it was in third person.

Eva Charles took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I was giggling through most of the first few chapters of the book, (beware no drinking anything or you will be spewing it everywhere on certain areas), she had me falling in love with Gabe and later on I fell out of love with him (wanted to strangle him) but fell back in love with him all over again. The last half of the book I had a box of kleenexes right by me (I sure went through a lot), that was a very emotional time part of the book, it had some twist in it I didn’t see coming.

Unforgettable is the fourth book in the Meadow Shores series about the Clayton-Harrington cousins, and I have been fortunate enough to read all four books. I have fell in love with all the cousins, the Harrington boys are all protective over their cousins the Clayton girls, but them girls sure know how to put them boys in their place. They have brought me a lot of giggles when they are all together. And we can’t forget Avo Angelina she sure knows how to handle her grandsons.

If you have never read one of Eva Charles’s books I recommend you pick up a copy of Unforgettable and find out why she has become one of this reader’s favorite authors and always waiting patiently to return to Meadow Shores, the Clayton-Harrington cousins & Avo Angelina.

I received a free copy from the author for my honest review!

Emotion Filled Love Story

This book is a welcome change in this genre. Rather than the main characters beginning to have a sexual relationship that is very explicitly described in great detail soon after meeting, Gabe and Helena's story is allowed to unfold in a gentler way and the physical intimacies they share leave something to the imagination. Although Gabe appears to have generally been a player where women are concerned (except for a painful past experience), his experiences with Helena leave his emotions scrambling for purchase as his heart tries to right itself in an emotionally heavy sea.

After a terrible tragedy occurs that challenges significant beliefs that Gabriel holds about himself, Helena, Gabe and both their families must come to terms about what love REALLY means, as well as struggling to find/receive forgiveness.

An awesome, touching read...looking forward to more from this author!

An emotional love story that had heartbreaking moments but also lessons of forgiveness and healing. This is my first novel by Eva Charles and I appreciated how beautifully this book was written. The story flowed so easily and once I started, I was unable to put it down.

Gabe has earned himself a reputation as a playboy. The truth is, he is still struggling with tragedy he experienced as a child and this has led him to a fear of not wanting his own kids. Hence, he keeps women at a distance to discourage long term relationships. He is kind of thrown off balance when he meets Helena. She is quite different from the women he normally dates. She is not stick thin, not always polished and put together but he finds himself so drawn to her.

The attraction between these two was so palpable and the chemistry and banter was spot on. Despite the sexual tension, I loved that Gabe and Helena took their time to build a friendship. Their budding relationship takes a huge hit and we see how hard they had to work to heal and rebuild their love. There are moments in this book that Gabe was not my most favorite person even though I understood where he was coming from. His own pain caused him to make some really bad decisions. This is not a book of instant gratification. This is a real life love story and the author takes us on a journey of learning how true forgiveness allows us to make room in our heart for love to bloom. I loved seeing Gabe moving forward past his fears and becoming the amazing man we know him to be.

I loved all the secondary characters. Helena is a part of a huge family. She has supportive sisters and overbearing protective male cousins that tried to step in and protect her when Gabe stepped out of line. It was actually quite comical at times. I wished I had read the other books in the series to get some of their stories. However, this is a standalone and I don't think it took away from Gabe and Helena's story.

Try this one to experience a heartwarming love story that may be difficult to read at times but will take you on an amazing emotional journey.

It’s never a dull moment with the Clayton sisters and Harrington brothers but this one was a bit emotional.

Helena was the goody two shoes of the Clayton sisters. She wasn’t adventurous like her younger sisters but their relationship was solid. She meets Gabe while working for his parents. They hit it off after much flirtation and a trip but they want different things in life.

Relationship is going well until something happens that separates them. I must say Gabe was a total prick when this happened. It was nothing that was resolved immediately. His reaction was wow but made it all more realistic. Helena handled it like a champ along with the support of her family. Then tragedy strikes. This was a very emotional part and so close to my heart because I experienced something similar.

After this tragedy these two went their separate ways but it took a lot of soul searching for them to receive their HEA and build that trust again. The epilogue is still very sad but also lighthearted.

This is the first book by Eva Charles that I’ve ever read and she left me gutted, wrecked and emotional. I knew this would be a tough book to read but it was such a well written, beautiful story about love, healing and forgiveness. The characters Gabe and Helena went through the unimaginable and I wasn’t sure how they would be able to overcome this obstacle. It wasn’t easy but they were able to heal in their own ways and heal together. I enjoyed watching Gabe mature and become the man I knew he could be! Helena was so selfless and at first I thought she was a pushover but she proved me wrong. She handled her situation with more grace than I ever could. I also loved how the author didn't make this book predictable and went a different route with the characters. I loved the main characters family and how they band together during the tough times. This book is a standalone but I was intrigued by the other characters and will be checking out the other books in this series.

I recognize I'm in the minority with this book, that didn't send me over the moon like other readers.
I will say the writing is stellar. Eva Charles can weave a wonderful tale. Solid plot, the not my favorite cousins, women who were supportive but at times clucked like hens and others who threw in their two cents on things. Loved Gabe's parents, and Helena. This was really her story; and that's the main thing that kept my attention. Strong heroine who knew what she wanted and accepted what she was given. Gabe on the other hand really ruined the book for me, in so many ways. From his grade A alphahole attitude, his treatment of Helena, the way he treated his family and the concrete block he so proudly carried on his shoulders. He was nasty and frankly he wore me out. When Helena's faced with a crisis and Gabe shows his face, it was too little too late for me. As bad as her male cousins behavior were, in retrospect maybe Gabe did need a good beat down. Just sayin'

Unforgettable is book 4 in Ms. Charles’ Meadow Shores series.

Helena and Gabe are co-workers of sorts who are pushed together by Gabe’s parents. Sparks fly for the two and one thing leads to another; but, life has a cruel way of rearing its ugly head.

Unforgettable was such an amazing and heartbreaking story.

When I first started, I did feel a little lost because I came into this series with this book and hadn’t read the first 3. I would recommend reading the prior books before this one so that you have the back story of all the supporting characters.

My first impressions of Gabe: playboy, half way through the book: total jerk! Towards the end: my heart started to thaw for him and by the last chapter, I couldn’t help falling a little in love with him. Helena was an amazing character and I can only imagine how Ms. Charles felt writing her story. Helena is a true survivor.

This was my first book from Ms. Charles and it won’t be my last. I also plan on going back to book 1 so that I can meet all the other people in Helena’s life. Well done!

Unforgettable by Eva Charles was a very touching story. I knew from the blurb that this was going to be an emotional read, so I tried to prepare myself as much as possible. But this story was far from predictable and such a heartbreaking one.

I've read the other stories in the Meadow Shores series so I was pretty familiar with the families and the bonds they all share. Unforgettable, to me, had a different approach about it and made it more enjoyable than the others. I just felt more of a closeness. Maybe it was Gabe and Helena since you could feel the chemistry almost from the get go. I laughed, then cried and cried some more.

I love when a story can emotionally wreck me and that's exactly what Eva Charles did with Unforgettable. I will say, though, I think you'll benefit more from the story if you're familiar with the other characters. Great read!

Unforgettable is book 4 in Ms. Charles’ Meadow Shores series. Helena and Gabe are co-workers of a sort, who end up pushed together by Gabe’s parents. There is a lot of passion but also more of the relationship side of their story, which is refreshing and exciting. Watching/ Reading how their relationship builds during this story was sizzling. Even though Gabe let it be known that he wasn’t looking for a relationship, especially with Helena, whenever Gabe was with other women, he always thought of Helena and couldn’t get her out of his head. When they traveled for work, they ended up getting super close. The passion between them was intense and steamy. They decided to continue to have intimacy between them and they decide to pursue a relationship when they get back home yet something happens that sends them both reeling and makes Gabe turn into this total jerk. I mean, he really treats Helena horribly. Can their relationship bounce back from the betrayal of these events and can they save their relationship or are things so broken that they are now completely dunzo? This is a terrific addition to the Meadow Shores series and I really loved the writing—its fresh and exciting. I did not like how horrible Gabe was toward the end and this sort of soured my reading experience but the ending did become somewhat better. I cant say what happened but I can say things did improve. I wish Gabe didn’t have to turn into a jerk and treat Helena so bad.
Otherwise, great story.

This is my first book by Eva Charles and I was swept off my feet into the world she created. There are a lot of raw emotions in this story which made it so much more read. I enjoyed Gabe and Helena as they navigate being tossed together for work. There is a lot of passion but also more of the relationship side of the story which is such a refreshing pace. Watching the relationship build was amazing The one thing that I really enjoyed was the attention to detail. You get to visualize everything the author writes as she is brilliant with the description but not too much to overwhelm you. You could honestly feel like this was playing out in front of you.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story as it took me on an amazing journey of love and self discovery. I will be going back to read the other books in the series stat!

Unforgettable was a great 5 star read.
You get pulled in right from the beginning, your heart just broke for Gabe.

We jump ahead to present day. Helena is a designer with a degree in psychology. She meets Gabe when she goes to meet with his parents. There is something about him that intrigues her.

Gabe is the hot and sexy son of the people Helena is working on a project for, he was instantly attracted to Helena. When he was with other women he thought about her, he wanted her. It had been a long time since I met someone like her, someone who held my interest for more than a few minutes.

Gabe was always very clear with Helena that he wasn’t looking for a relationship. When they were traveling for work they got very close and the sex scenes were hot. They decide to continue a relationship when they return home. There is a huge twist that turns Gabe into a complete a$$hole and he is completely cruel. It was quite the emotional scene.

Trust is like forgiveness---it’s a lot of work.

There are some even bigger events that take place that totally broke my heart. I was ugly crying through most of it. How could this happen? All of the secondary characters added a good element to the story. Eva Charles does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing and you won’t want to stop until your done. The epilogue was great, I really love how it was written.

As I was reading the beginning of this book, through the 4th, 5th chapters, it dawned on me that I was reading the same old story. Gabe & Helena meet while she's working on a project with his parents, an Italian market-style store that sourced only the best products. They are attracted to each other at first glance. This is a very family orientated tale. He receives a stern warning from his parents to stay away from her, she, known as the good girl (but not a virgin), is told by her very large extended family that Gabe is not the type of guy for her. As I delved deeper into the book, it became crystal clear to me that this is not the same old story or even similar to anything that I have read before.
Gabe experienced a family tragedy at a young age, has not grieved or dealt with his sorrow & therefore carries with him memories that affect some life changing decisions.
Helena has also experienced great loss & with the help & support of her very, very large family is in a better mindset.
The two venture on a trip to Italy together along with Gabe's father's assistant to source out vendors & new products for the upcoming opening of his parent's new business. What do you get when two people attracted to one another spend time in such a wonderful setting? Exactly.
Without giving too much away, the second part of this book is where everything changed. More tragedy, a heart-wrenching decision & a far too great sorrow for anyone to experience.
It took a while for me to connect with the characters & I was worried this would be a dud. Not so. I loved this book, it was very well written & I will definitely be on the look out for more by this author. This is a stand-alone with a HEA.

This is part of a standalone in a series for The Meadow Shores, but I feel like I didn't miss anything from the previous books.

WOW!  I don't know what else to say but WOW!!  I loved this book.  It was the first time reading this author, and I can't wait to read more from Eva!  I want to read the rest of the series of the books.

Yes Gabe didn't want children. Yes Helena had always dreamed of having children.  Can they come to an agreement on this, before it tears them apart?

They are thrusted into each others lives by Gabe's parents who want him to step up more and begin to take over the family business.  He is so caught up in his past with his brother, and is trying to figure out if he wants to forgive his father or not.  Then Helena comes into his life.

They are on a business trip to Italy, that his parents had set up for them.  Then a bombshell is dropped when they get back home.  Can Gabe and Helena come to terms with it?  Can they make it work?

Then the most saddest part of the book came, and yes, I cried like a baby at what happens.  Don't wanna give too much away, but something very sad happens.  Helena must figure out how to deal with this grief, and she distances Gabe.  But the miracle of Christmas brings it all back together for the them.
Loved the epilogue too!!  I loved the writing style of Eva, there wasn't much fluffing around to fill words, or pages. I loved the storyline, how it all flowed very nicely.

This book...sigh. Wow. Like all of Eva Charles' work so far, Unforgettable is a beautiful book full of heart and emotion.

Helena and Gabe were complete opposites. And you know what they say about opposites attracting? It certainly proved true for them. The instant Gabe and Helena met there was something sizzling under the surface. Each of them tried to brush it off but like most things of great significance, it was impossible to ignore.

Helena was hired by Gabe's parents to build their family bistro and store and she was determined to do it right. She would create a place that would tell the story of their heritage and background, an atmosphere that would honor their deep roots and their commitment to the finest imports direct from the homeland. She's shocked when Gabe's father insists that she accompany a very reluctant Gabe to Italy to meet with suppliers and get in touch with his roots...for a month long trip. As their attraction burns out of control, she makes a decision that will alter their lives forever.

Gabe has been burned by love and he's not interested in a repeat. Traumatized by the past, he has got a firm lock on his heart and heaven help anyone that tries to get too close. He knows Helena is a keeper from the first time he sees her and therefore, he knows he has to stay away. He doesn't do "keepers". But when his father gives him an ultimatum and forces him to accompany the lovely Helena to Italy, he falls deeper and deeper into her web. He's very clear and up-front with her and she agrees to his terms. If they get involved, it's a fling and nothing more. But after their time together, it's Gabe who can't let go. He finds himself loving being with her, until she reveals they have a souvenir from their trip.

Even with her amazing family by her side, Helena has never felt more alone. Gabe didn't know love couldn't hurt worse than the first time. Each of them are hurting in their own ways and neither know if there is a way back. There is a twist in this book that I was unprepared for and truly tested these characters and the strength of my tissue reserve.

I ran the gamut of emotions in this book. I hated Gabe, really hated him, then had to forgive him. I loved Helena (and the entire family, as I have in all the past books!) I genuinely cried, laughed, wanted to hurl my tablet at Gabe's imaginary head, wanted to hug them both, etc. This book is truly wonderful. A must read! (You should definitely read all the Meadow Shores book!) Another homerun by Eva Charles!

Breathtaking beautiful, this book will stay with you forever

Unforgettable
Eva Charles
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m not there will ever be Enough this stars for this story. It is breathtakingly and devastatingly beautiful. I’m not sure I can even comprehend putting words into a review, this will be a story that will always stay long term in my heart. From a simple love story to something that cannot be explained, read this take it all in, and let the laughs, tears and heat take you to a new place.

Gabe and Helena are beautiful characters, with so much story to tell and Eva gave us beautiful insight to a woman with many challenges in life, and a man whom had his childhood destroyed in a way no child should ever have to live. In their adult lives, they are bought together under the disguise of work, but there chemistry is white hot, it is t long before they give into those feelings.

But as life throws hurdles, Gabe‘ inner demons show up destroying what should be the best time of his life, what he doesn’t know is that everything can change in a moment. Helena and Gabe will tackle the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Bringing together a damaged love.

I’m still struggling with this story, god help the next book I read, it may need to 1000 stars to scoop this one.

I haven’t read any books by Eva Charles before, so I went into this one blind. I was drawn in by the blurb, which made me want to read this and I’m so, so glad I did. This book was amazing, everything I was looking and a whole lot more besides. It was like watching a movie unfold seeing these wonderful characters come to life in my head. It was a very emotional story, but pretty steamy too. The chemistry between Gabe and Helena was evident from the very first accidental meeting.
Helena was a beautiful strong, caring woman and quite the match for the sexy as sin womanizer Gabe. She didn’t take any of his cr**, but that’s what he needed, and it brought out the best in him, eventually. This story was incredible and sometimes devastating in it’s delivery. It was also kind of frustrating but the happier, fun and sexy moments helped ease me through it all. I will warn you, you will need a bib box of tissues for this one ‘cos this heartwrenching tear-jerker is gonna wreck you as it takes you on a journey through some pretty brutal stuff. Read the blurb if you’re wondering what I mean.
So, if you’re up for a book that will tear you apart before putting you back together with a smile on your face, then this is the one for you.

Helena comes from a loving family and she wants the same for herself including children. She has been hired by Carol and Gianna Innocenti to design a bistro/store but they have requested that she travel to Italy with their son Gabe so that she will have a better understanding of exactly what the atmosphere that they want for it.

Gabe has been burnt in the past and has no interest in a relationship or children. He reluctantly agrees to his parent’s request that he travel with Helena to Italy.

They are both attracted to each other and spending so much time they are unable to deny the chemistry between them but they both agree that it will only last as long as they are in Italy. When they return they decide to continue their relationship until Helena receives some news that changes everything. Will the emotional toll bring them closer or tear them apart?

This is an emotional story of forgiveness, second chances and realizing what is truly important in life. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book.* What a FABULOUS first read for me from Eva Charles!!! I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was EXTREMELY happy with the introduction to these two characters and this series. Gabe and Helena couldn't have been more opposite which made the chase even more alluring. I loved, loved, LOVED Helena's kind heart and worldly soul. And I enjoyed the fact that both knew what they were getting into, and where it would eventually lead. Recklessly, both forged ahead deciding what would be, would be. This was such a rollercoaster of a ride with a twist that I would have never expected. Drawing me in, this story kept me entranced, needing to quench my thirst to find out what was next for these two. Although this was the first for me in this series, Unforgettable has made me a big fan; and wanting to go back and read the additional books in this series. This story was unique in content and characters.

This series just keeps getting better and better. Unforgettable is a amazing emotional read. Plenty of tissues needed for Helena's story. It's sooooo good. You get an eventually reformed manwhore in Gabe and of course Helena Clayton of the Clayton/Harrington clan. If you don't know who she is by now then you really have to catch up with the first 3 books. Sparks fly between Gabe and Helena the instant they meet. It takes an unforgettable trip for things to ignite. I love the slow build of flirty banter between these two. Gabe is a little broken and even though Helena knows her heart may get broken she takes a chance on him. It's beautiful to watch them grow and change. Then comes the real need for the tissues. My heart has yet to recover but it is so worth it. This is one emotional read so hang on for this journey of Helena and Gabe. I loved every minute of Unforgettable even as the tears fell.

I really don't know how or where to start this review. Helena is a set, fun loving woman who loves helping people and loves love. She helping a husband and wife see their dream a reality by helping them decorate and remodel their business when she meets their son Gabe who she's heard about and his playboy ways. of course she's attracted to him but that would be dangerous. Gabe is good at business and having one night stands but when meets Helena it's something else so when he is requested to take a trip to Italy to rediscover his roots he's all for it til Helena will be making the trip as well, a month that's how long they agree on their fling but once they get back to reality will things go back the same or will gifts brought back get in the way? OMG grab tissues. this was so beautifully written.

I just adore Eva Charles’ writing; her stories are always a pleasure to read.

Unforgettable is the fourth book in The New American Royals series, this time were poking into the life of Gabe and Helena!  Can I just say that Gabe is ahmazing – he is yummy and intelligent and oh so broken.  He is the type of character I love to sink my teeth into.  Helena is his perfect match – she is another strong and fierce female character.  I through enjoyed watching the two characters grow on their journey.

Unforgettable is at times heartbreaking but it is written so well.  Eva’s writing is emotional and beautiful.  Her stories reverberate within your soul.  I am always blown away by the level of detail that Eva goes into – her words weave some of the most amazing stories.

Building a friendship, falling in love, having it all, losing it all and starting fresh.

Watching the instant attraction between Gabe and Helena, grow into a strong friendship and then him sweeping her off her feet. Because of things that happened in his past - Gabe stays away from relationships and love, but one thing he finds that he can't stay away from is Helena. One stupid outburst, he says words that he can't take back - words that destroy their whole relationship. Over time, Gabe realizes how wrong he was, but can Helena truly forgive him and start over?

This book pulls you in - makes you laugh, love, cry - just plain feel! My first book by Eva Charles, but definitely not my last!!

It wouldn’t be an Eva Charles book if there wasn’t a deep connection to real human emotions! With each book I’m falling more in love with not only these characters but with Eva’s writing! She has amazing talent! Eva brings tough topics to the forefront and takes them on! Each book is emotional, raw and most important real! There’s tough roads for each couple but with love and family they come out on top!

Helena and Gabe’s story for me was one that was truly the most emotional of all but it was still a very beautiful story! This is a must read for sure as are all the books in this amazing series!

5 Star Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review

I loved this book. I'm new to Eva Charles, but this book is everything I wanted and more. Eva Charles did an amazing job of making me feel like it was right there watching this amazing story unfold. This story is emotional and touching. This book is not for the fate of heart. It deals with some pretty sensitive issues. Don't let that deter you from reading this amazing story.

Helena is everything I could have wanted in a heroine and Gabe, it was amazing to watch him grow. I don't want to five anything away about this story, but I will say, keep the tissues handy and be prepared to every emotion in the book!

Ugh, this book broke my heart. Helena and Gabe are typical opposites attract, Helena is a more reserved, fun loving woman, and Gabe is a man not interested in relationships, but loves women. When they meet, sparks fly, and when they take a business trip together, their relationship takes a turn. But Gabe is fighting demons from his past still, and when they’re future slaps him in the face, neither he nor Helena know how to proceed.

This book is filled with so much emotion, I had tears running down my face. The best books are the ones that you feel in your heart, and this one made my heart feel like it was going through these characters emotions. I’d definitely recommend it.

This is Book #4 in the New American Royals series. I have also read Book #2, Noble Pursuit.

This was so emotional once you got into the book more. Every emotions ran through me. I was happy for most of the book, but once you got to a certain point, scared, sad, and worried were most of the emotions running through me. Ms Charles wrote where you could see what were on the pages. I do not want to give anyway anything.

I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
