Blank Canvas

Rate this book
I loved to draw and paint, throwing those spectacular colors across a blank canvas and turning it into something unique. Young, carefree, with the world in the palm of my hands. The options limitless.

My world ended the night the door creaked open. It was their first of many visits. Life as I knew it went blank. It became a survival game and counting my only solace to get through the pain.

It all became too much. I ran into the darkness of the night. That blank canvas long forgotten and uncomplete. The ways of the streets became my new home. Drugs and sex my new survival. Until one night, it all went too far.

I was happy to know the pain would finally end; welcomed being murdered in a lonely alley. All of the weight on my shoulders and vicious memories would be long forgotten once I took my final breath.

Life hates me, and I didn’t die. A second chance was handed to me, but what happens when I don’t want it?

This time, I have the chance to make my own art.
One person’s Blank Canvas is another’s Graffiti.

Charlie Lee continues to set the bar high in stories where Opposites Attract.
Doctor and Junkie cross paths and can't escape the magnetic pull that draws them to one other. Meeting in unfortunate circumstances can't keep them from finding what is meant to be but the road is bumpy, long with many curves and obstacles standing in their way.
This book forced me to question my own moral compass. How strong is yours? Can anything make it bend? Shatter it? Never say never .. if you love someone, to what lengths would you go to keep them safe?
What would you do to escape the fires of hell?
To me, this story is one of healing, finding strength in oneself that was there but perhaps unseen or hidden. It's about overcoming your past and fighting for your future. And redefining who you are by allowing yourself to see what others see in you.
It's a fresh start, a clean slate, a blank canvas, that you can create into a masterpiece of vibrant colors!

Zeke and Amelia's journey is great!

We originally met Zeke in The Hitchhiker. This is a companion novel to that and can be read as a standalone, but if you read the Hitchhiker first you will get a better glimpse into the other characters. Or read the Hitchhiker afterwards... either way!!

I was hooked to this book from the very first page, and even though the first chapter is pretty horrific (yes I really did clutch myself and grit my teeth reading that one bit!!), it really sets the scene for the whole story. It does start dark, but stick with it....

Amelia is merely existing, Having escaped home after a horrific experiences there, she is now on the street, selling herself, selling and taking drugs, and scraping at the barrel to survive. It's the daily hits that get her through. But after everything comes to a head, she is given a second chance...

Zeke's main aim in life is to make a difference. He wants to help people... He's experienced pure tragedy in his family, and also wants to help the victims of rape and abuse, by setting up a charity to fund a safe-house and support for those women. He has reasons for this, but it's in his nature to help everyone... He's a wonderful doctor, and is drawn to helping Amelia out.

Zeke and Amelia form a wonderful connection, and with this story there are loads of twists and turns that you won't see coming. It is fast paced and full of suspense.

This story touches on so many subjects, dealing with difficult subjects, tragedy, heartbreak and trust. It's about finding yourself again, learning to trust and learning to live. Zeke is determined to help Amelia find that trust and gain her trust for him. He doesn't want to push her, but he certainly provides the temptation. The chemistry between the two is superb! I loved their whole friendship and of course when things heat up too!

This story is dark and gritty at times, but also plenty of elements of sweetness and love which is wonderful to see after all the darkness.

The secondary characters are great, seeing Brick and Katch again, and also being introduced to Zoe in this book.

Another great story from Charlie Lee - these two seem to be getting better each time! I can't wait to see what the bring us next!

We met the hero of this story in The Hitchhiker and I was thrilled to get Dr. Zeke Hartley's story. He lost his sister too young and in a horrible way which fueled his desire to devote his life to helping save others. Amelia was happy and beautiful. She had a wonderful life which ended the night her bedroom door opened. For years she suffered at their hands until finally she snapped and ran. Living on the streets, sex and drugs became her new way of life. Then fate steps in and Zeke is there to save Amelia. He's determined to help her even when he realizes he wants much more.

My heart broke for Amelia and what she went through. So tragic. She wasn't used to anyone being kind to her and had a hard time believing Zeke's offer of help didn't come without strings or expectation. Zeke was such a wonderful man. He's caring and kind and unbelievably patient with Amelia. He truly wanted to help her and struggled with how deep his feelings were for her. This was a beautiful second chance at life story for both of these great characters.

Brick's story is up next and I can't wait to see how he gets his happy ending. Loving these author's books.

I gave this book 3 stars because I could not stay "into it". While I felt bad for Amelia and her past, I could not get past the age difference between Zeke and Amelia. It is a journey about recovery and I feel like this author did this well. I thoroughly enjoyed her other book the Hitchhiker. I didn't dislike this book but I just did not like it as much as the other.

✯✯5 BlueBird Stars!!!✯✯

If you're wondering if when I finished reading The Hitchhiker did I jump right into this book. Then, yes! Yes, I did and I loved every page and every word of Blank Canvas .

When I read The Hitchhiker I was intrigued and wanted to know more about the sexy doctor who put his job on the line for Katch and Caitlin. I wanted to know what made him do what he does.

Amelia hasn't had the easiest life. She's seventeen and just about to graduate and head off to college. It should be the happiest time in her life. Except Amelia's barely holding on. She's a shell of the girl she use to be. At night she prays her bedroom door won't open and close with a lock. When it does she counts. It makes the time pass. When she can't take it she leaves and doesn't look back.

Years later Amelia is living in the dark, dirty alley. She'll do anything to get money for her next fix. She'll eat outta the dumpster and use the money for the other.

Amelia watches him. The beautiful man with the beautiful colorful watch on. Whose always got an equally beautiful woman on his arm as he enters the restaurant. Tonights no different except he's alone. She's hoping tonights the night her suffering will end. Unfortunately, its not before she is face to face with the devil himself. Just as its about to end, she's face to face with the beautiful man.

Zeke loves being a doctor. Things haven't been easy in Zeke's life. Him and his brother Saxon aka Brick to his MC club. They both lost somebody extremely close to them. When him and his brother met Curtis the President of his MC club, he knew his brother would be good. Those guys are part of Zeke's family and its why he puts everything on the line when one of them needs medical attention.

Every time Zeke goes to his favorite restaurant he can sense her there. Feel her eyes on him. Zeke knows he should go into that alley and offer her help. But, never does. That nights different though. When she's getting attacked he jumps into action and finds her foaming at the mouth and bloodied to a pulp barely clinging to life. It's her eyes he sees. As blue as a bluebird. Hs bluebird. It's then he promises to save her life ad get her away from this alley.

Amelia wakes up to the man with the beautiful watch. He is offering her a new life. Offering her a chance to get clean and get a fresh start. But, Amelia doesn't accept it at first for the right reasons.

When she meets Zoe who works where Amelia's getting help she makes her see things differently and brighter for the first time in her life. Zeke got her the best Dr. Dr Ronan whose showing Amelia how her life could be. Everyday she gets a little better.

Zeke is drawn to Amelia for a few reasons. He wants to get her help and save her. Maybe he needs to do it bc he couldn't save her. He won't loose Amelia either.

What starts as a slow building friendship, turns into something much more hot, passionate and real. Unlike either of them ever had. Zeke needs help getting his charity event to help women get the help the need set up he goes to Amelia. He needs help. She needs a job. Its a win-win for both of them.

Zeke and Amelia's story is beautiful. They're both fighting their inner demons. Zeke really is the perfect man. The way he fights to save every patient that ends up on his table. To the way he'll do anything for his brother and the MC. To the way he wanted to give Amelia aka his bluebird anything and everything was amazing. Lets talk about Amelia. She had a crap life. But, when she got the chance to live, man she took it. Even though she went all she went through she was definitely mature for her age and all she went through. She's beautiful and never once took anything given to her for granted.

Charlie Lee is killing it! The way they took on Amelia's story was perfect. This book was better then the first. I am beyond excited for the next book which belongs to Brick. I can't wait! I'm hoping its Brick and Zoe's story. Even though this is considered a standalone I'd recommend reading The Hitchhiker first. You'd get what they speak about in this book and it not be spoiled when you do read it. I was also already crushing on Dr Zeke before opening the book.

"Bluebird, fight hard, and you'll fly into a new direction in life."

I have never in my life read a story so raw and breathtaking at the same time!!

After reading Charlie Lee's debut The Hitchhiker, I knew their second book would be nothing short of a masterpiece!

Amelia is an extraordinary character!!
From the prologue alone, you fight for her. You want justice for the life that was taken away...even though she's still breathing.
Even at her lowest point in life, her beauty and strength shine through.
And the right person found her at the right time.

"I think I fell for you the minute you opened your eyes and pleaded for help without saying a word. I knew it then, and I know it now."

Zeke.
This man!!!!!
The patience of a saint. The strength of a fighter.
The knight in shining armor in the form of a doctor's coat.
I swear I fell for him as soon as he called her Bluebird! Be still my heart!

The connection that Zeke and Amelia shared, even before they met, was incredible.
I can't tell you how many times my breath caught as I awaited for what the next page would show me.

"Never did I expect to fall in love with the man who saved my life. Who made me open my eyes to a world full of color when all it's ever been was the deepest, darkest shade of raven black."

This story is not for the faint of heart.
As I said before, it's very raw.
It's powerful!

Not only do you connect with Amelia and Zeke on such extreme levels, but you also feel emotions you probably never knew existed in your on body.

Charlie Lee, you have done it again!
Despite this long review, I'm left speechless!
This writing is amazing, the storyline is perfection, and the character development is on point!

Very well done!!
Now....I need Saxon's story;)

"Life is gray and murky without you.
I need color. My color is you."

From the first sentence of this AMAZING book, I was hooked!! I had already read the first book in this series called The Hitchhiker. So I knew I loved the writing style and the unique story line of The Hitchhiker.....I had NEVER read another book like it before, or loved it SO much! So I gotta say I was SO EXITED to get my hands on Blank Canvas!! BUT if I thought I loved the first book, the second book was just as GREAT!
I had met Zeke in the first book, BUT I fell in love with him in the second! He is my new book boyfriend.......I call dibs!!LOL ;)
The Blank Canvas starts off with some gut wrenching chapters BUT stick with it......I promise it gets better & that this story will become one of your favorites!! It will grab a hold of you and not let go!
Amelia meets Zeke in worst way possible, her life is so messed up and I can't imagine living through all that she has. Zeke comes in and heals her and I truly believe no one could have, or would have done all that Zeke did for Amelia. He is completely swoon worthy and does not disappoint! Charlie Lee is a fantastic writing duo and I for one hope they NEVER stop writing!! The only time you will be disappointed in this book is when you read the last sentence and realize it's done!! LOL

Take any preconceived notions you have from the first book by Charlie Lee and put them away. This book isn't the same at all... although you have character crossover, it's a whole different story from what I was expecting.

I thought that this story would have kind of be a long the same line as the first (and it is to an extent) this story is much much darker. There is a trigger warning and honestly, even if you don't have this trigger it may give you nightmares and you probably won't ever fully get this imagry out of your mind. I know that days later I still think about it from time to time and it breaks my heart that this actually someones reality.

This is Zeke's story and this man will swoon you right out of your pants with the way the he genuinely, sincerely cares about Amelia. They can from different words but are both battling demons from comparable circumstances.

"I'm looking at you this way, because to me, there is more beauty on the inside of you than on the outside."

This is a story of destruction, devotion, triumph and love. You will be put through the ringer! Buy it today and see if you will find a happily ever after.

I loved the first book by this author. The hitchhiker was one of those books that totally draws you in with the plot and characters do their job and keep you addicted. I was so excited to read blank canvas!

Zeke was amazing. So caring and seeing him fight what he feels, but then give into it anyways, it was beautiful. He's everything I had hoped he could be wrapped up in one fine package.

Amelia was so strong. Yes she hit her rock bottom but she got to the peak of her mountain and it was so beautiful when she was there. The author did a fantastic job at putting us in her mind set.

Right from the start we are punched in the gut with the feels of this book. I had tears within the first couple pages and there were many times I held my breath. This book is raw and beautiful it's not own darkish way, and I love how the author was able to make us feel for the characters in such a short time.

Overall, this author duo has done another amazing job at putting me back together after giving me all the feels. I was sad to see it end, and it wasn't an easy road to get to the end but it was amazing! 5 stars #2OCCJD

I loved this book and was so excited Zeke got his own book. This is definitely not easy to read, as some of the content is very dark. I was definitely cringing while reading certain parts of this book. I really enjoyed book one, but I loved this one so much more! The story line was great and I just didn't want to put the book down.

Amelia is one tough cookie! All the things life threw at her and she's still standing. Zeke is this amazing man that doesn't do things with ulterior motives. He does them because he cares and is genuinely a good person. Maybe the way Zeke and Amelia come into each other's lives isn't exactly ideal, it's actually pretty sickening, but those two were made for each other.

This book introduces a few new characters and I am seriously intrigued by Zoe and whatever her situation is. I'm hoping Zoe and Brick/Saxon have a story...Yes?! Ha! I'd love to read more about the both of them, and this book kind of paves a little something something for them. AmIRight?!! Loving this mystery duo's work and can't wait to read more of it!

I'm going to be honest here, I went into this book with reservations. After reading the debut from this duo, Hitchhiker, I was a little on the fence about book two. But, Zeke!!!

This story is very different from the first one, and I really enjoyed it. Zeke and Amelia meet under the worst of circumstances. But out of tragedy comes a special friendship. Zeke is patient, kind, loving and willing to fight for Amelia. Literally! I loved that natural progression of their relationship and how Zeke really gave Amelia the room to grow. They are such different people, from two completely different worlds, yet they seem to fit.

This book may be hard for some to read. It comes with a trigger warning that you should not ignore. There are some really tough scenes. I think they are relevant to the story and a necessary part so that you can truly understand the journey that these two characters take.

Blank Canvas is about love, loss, overcoming the worst that life has to give and finding your HEA. Oh, and Zeke will melt your panties.

No doubt about it, the past of the heroine, Amelia, aka Bluebird is sad. She had a horrific childhood. These things do happen in real life, unfortunately. Zeke, whom we met in The Hitchhiker is certainly Dr. Hottie Pants for sure. He's a protector, a good soul. His career as a well respected doctor is earned.

All that being said, I just couldn't connect to the characters. I really wanted to love them, I really did. I just felt the writing fell flat. I think it's because this new duo of authors have so much hype surrounding them. I sometimes think the hype for some authors is just overrated and people love the books because they think they're "supposed to" because everyone else thinks so too.

There are some hot scenes, some very sad scenes and some scenes that will shock you, it all just felt too forced for me. Although, I do plan on reading the next book because I'm curious about where it all goes.

5 Phenomenal Stars! Mind blown! An all consuming masterpiece....gritty, dark, edgy, angst ridden, are all words I'd use to describe this book but also compassionate, sexy, smart, funny....oh wait, was I talking about the book or the man?! Holy cow, it doesn't even matter. This man, my man, Zeke and this book both are unforgettable. The lines all blur when it comes to Amelia aka Bluebird for him. This story had so many twists, turns, ups, downs, highs, and lows that it will most definitely keep you perched on the edge and when it's over you will be demanding more! I need to know all the things about Brick and Zoe now! The Hitchhiker was absolutely amazing and is a companion novel but this can totally be read as a standalone, I actually highly recommend both. I can't wait for more from this incredible duo.

**trigger warning**
This book is not easy to read. My thoughts right from the start was how could someone let that happen? (Not the victim but the bystander)

Always remember... YOU HAVE A CHOICE!!!

This was a different read for me. A little out there at times but maybe humans can truly give without something in return.

Zeke and Amelia just clicked together and found a way to find the beauty on the inside and not just the outside physical appearance.

It was nice to read about the inner struggles of a human. Some times we go through life and forget that others need help and may be struggling with something. We should always be a listening ear.

Overall, this was a good story. I would recommend reading it.

Charlie Lee has done it again! Blank Canvas is everything! These ladies have such a way of humanizing their characters to make you feel every ounce of emotion, torment, love, passion and hope right along with them.
Amelia's story isn't for the faint of heart. She's lived in hell for a good part of her life, battling her inner demons. But it's Zeke, her saving grace, who helps her heal herself and realize her true potential.
I really loved this story. I loved Amelia. I loved Zeke. And of course, I loved revisiting the characters I met and fell in love with in The Hitchhiker. I hope Charlie Lee never stops writing together <3

Blank Canvas is a dark, raw, and emotional ride that will have you anxiously flipping the page to find out if Amelia is strong enough to overcome the demons of her youth.

If you read The Hitchhiker you might remember Dr. Zeke Hartley aka Dr. Hottie. He sees something in Amelia that most don't and becomes her support system against the waves that are threatening to pull her under and back to her life of darkness.

I loved this book. I loved the chemistry between Zeke and Amelia. And I loved seeing characters from The Hitchhiker. This can be read as a standalone if you have not read The Hitchhiker yet.

This is a companion novel to The Hitchhiker and can be read as a standalone. However The Hitchhiker is so good and you definitely should read it.

I inhaled this book from start to finish. I could not put it down. I was so happy that Zeke got his own story. I loved Zeke and hoped he'd find the happiness he deserved. Amelia has been through so much its heartbreaking. Zeke is so good for her.

If your looking for a really well written gritty and angsty story then I highly recommend this read.
Although for some it's not an easy read I loved it. Looking forward to more from Charlie Lee :)

I think this book broke me in the beginning! Lord above, what Amelia had experienced before that alleyway would be enough to destroy somebody......but then THAT!! My heart shattered......and then Zeke, Dr Zeke Hartley we met in The Hitchhiker, he is Brick's brother and they suffered a tragic loss and at first he sees this as his chance to save this young lady but then it becomes so much more. As the story and their connection evolved, I felt my heart being pieced back together, little by little. Their story is not an easy one to read but Damn it is worth every tear that I shed.

Amazing

I love this writing duo. Blank Canvas is amazing and draws you in from the very beginning. You had a little taste of Zeke "Doc" in The Hitchhiker and in Blank Canvas he does not disappoint. Hello doctor hotness. I love Amelias strength and how she fights through all she goes through. Zeke and Amelia are a perfect match in this one. They heal each other. Such an amazing book and I can't wait to read what this duo has up their sleeves next.

This book was incredible, it made be sad to read everything that happen to Amelia and was glad that Zeke was there for her and safes her. It will break your heart reading what happen to Amelia but when she is with Zeke his Bluebird, it is sweet and seeing how innocent she really is. I was excited to read more about Zeke and of course I wasn't disappointed. I loved the characters and the story that once I started reading I couldn't stop. I'm hoping that Saxon gets a book next

Hands down- straight up 5+ stars. This book was what I needed.

Be warned- it has several triggers and cringeworthy moments, mainly just the beginning. I was cringing and wanting to skim but didn't obviously. Not necessarily a dark read, just starts with an understanding of what Amelia has been through.

Regardless, I loved them both but Zeke was an amazing hero and Amelia was a good heroine that had to go through so much. Now on to Brick... I have a nervous feeling for that man!

Holy hell.

This book. I can't even.. I read the blurb thinking, "oh this will be good." I had no idea how good. It was dark. It was beautiful. Sweet Amelia. My heart hurt for what she had been through. If ever there was a heroine that deserved to soar it was most definitely her. Zeke was amazing in his desire to make sure she did.

This book made me believe that no matter how tumultuous the journey is that there is always the chance to start over on a blank canvas.

This Book is wealth .. it's mean everything .. it's unlike any other books because it's not just a novel it's also like the humanity development and as long as i hate the humanity development because i hate dictate me to do or not to do #BUT this book is fabulous its teach and learn every woman every girle that raped and abused by people like stepfather and stepbrother of Amelia how to be strong how to have the power and life isn't ended up yet and there light of the hope so there some good people like Zoe and Ronan and of course Zeke , Zeke is the doctor how not just help Amelia but also loves here cherishes and take care of her so work hard for gain her trust and of course he lay the world under her feed and plan her upon the ski and let her to fly and gave her a liberty to chose what she want to do unlike her dirty mother how chose money over her daughter and let her husband and her Stepson to rape her only on of her , what kind her mother she is how could do that with hers she must to protect her but she doen't she must to help but she's not she's only care about money but life gave Amelia a man with everything he has the beauty and wealth and also the white soul so of course the power
this book is very impressive and very interesting and it's deserve to read , you don't how i savored and relished by every word in this book because it's really stunning book ❤

Emotionally Rivoting

Emotional story that has you mesmerized on the first page. You will want to put it down but you can't because you have to keep reading. It will draw you in and keep your eyes glued to the page. Zeke is a strong hero. Amelia is an emotionally distraught heroine but you want to route for her, you want vengeance and you retribution.

Damn

This book gutted the crap out of my emotions. My heart bled for Amelia but was put back together by Zeke. The theme of this book was darker and more disturbing than Hitchhiker but the beauty of love and the kindness of good people still prevailed.

Totally recommend this book.
