Rovers boss Tony Mowbray isn’t signing up to the notion that back-to-back home games should equate to six points.

Mowbray’s men host QPR tomorrow, and Rotherham United next weekend before the international break.

Rovers have played two of last season’s relegated Premier League teams and second-placed Leeds United within the last week.

But tomorrow they face the form side in the division with QPR having taken 13 points from their last five games.

And Mowbray is keen to ensure his side are fully focussed.

He said: “It’s easy to look at two home games against QPR and Rotherham and think ‘well there’s six points’.

“I’m assuming that on the form guide that QPR are right at the top of that in the Championship. They have just beaten Villa at home which we didn’t manage to do, they beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 and drew with Derby so they have got some good results.

“They have won four out of the last five with clean sheets so I think it’s a game we need to be really focussed on, really driven for, and understand that if we just turn up and think we’re going to win then we’ll get beat.

“My job is to make this in to a massive game and I will try and pick the right team to try and give them problems.

“Our last home game we managed to beat Leeds United, so this is another tough game.”

Rovers tried to sign winger Luke Freeman from the Loftus Road club in the summer, while Eberechi Eze has impressed in his first full season in the team.

Mowbray added: “They have some really good players, I really like Freeman, the young boy Eze playing off the striker is making a name for himself in this league, causing teams problems, so we have to be mindful of that.

“Their two centre halves have helped keep four clean sheets in five so we won’t be taking anything for granted, those coming to the game will expect a tough game, and the players have to drive the team on to try and get three points.”

Rovers head in to the game as favourites, and will do again when they face the Millers next weekend.

That’s a position they regularly faced last season when they lost just twice in front of their own fans.

“It’s not as though we haven’t played these games for the last 18 months, games we hope to win at home,” Mowbray said.

“We have managed to get some decent results over the last 18 months, you could argue that we’ve had a few too many draws at home.

“We have been acclimatising to this league, to the different levels, and qualities, but we have to as we go forward find a way of turning draws in to victories.

“Let’s hope we can do that this weekend.”
