Your Life Isn’t Yours if You Always Care About What Someone Else Thinks

Our lives as we know it are for the public to see, thoughts are shared on Twitter, pictures captured for Instagram, our relationships are defined not by commitment, but by the relationship status on Facebook set to public and ready to broadcast.

And our jobs, progress, journeys are all online too.

However, this isn’t always a bad thing; it gives us a chance to reflect on the changes we have made, the people we have met and to share with those around us – it keeps us connected. It’s a lot like a superpower in a way, and it’s down to you to determine whether you use it for good or for evil.

Do you share your progress and career journey to compete, or to prove to people that you’re further ahead? Or do you share these things to let people learn (including yourself) about what goes into what you do?

We live in such a competitive time, each success is shared, but sometimes it’s to show off if done in the wrong way. Those sharing their journey like this are usually the ones not cut out for the journey at all, as they’re living their lives for the stories and not for themselves.

Be aware when you’re posting, let yourself pause for a moment and see if you’d post the same content if nobody saw it or reacted. And if not, change it up you wonderful people, because as we get into the age of online journals and honesty, people will listen to the things you share because they’ll be the things you care about.

Start sharing the process you want to share, regardless of who sees it and what their opinions are. You chose your path for a reason, don’t let others hold you back!
