UNI Track and Field Send 20 to West Preliminary

UNI Track and Field at the West Preliminary
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI track and field will send 20 competitors to the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships set for May 24,26.
The West Preliminary will be held in Sacramento, Calif.
Six Panthers qualified for the men's shot put: Keegan Tritle, William Blaser, Isaac Holtz, Kyler Yodts, Darius King and Tom Yezek. Holtz and Yezek also will compete in the discus.
Jacob Smith and JoJo Frost will compete in the 400 hurdles, and Connor Ham will be in the 110 hurdles.
The men's squad qualified the 4x400 and 4x100 relay teams. Evan Long, Sven Van den Bergh, Corey Hertz, Bryce Newcomb, Isaiah Trousil, Tayshaun Cooper, Frost, Smith and Ham will team up to fill those spots.
On the women's side, three Panthers qualified in the hammer throw. Sarah Pate, Alanna Nietert and Maddy O'Brien secured spots.
Brette Correy in the 800-meter run and Kassidy Sharp in the high jump round out the UNI women's lineup.
The top 12 competitors out of the East and West Prelims will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Championships held June 6-9, 2018, in Eugene, Oregon.
