These Belgian style handheld waffles are so friggin' delish. They have several different flavors and I want to try them all. I tried the original and the berry flavors. I remember having these type of waffles in Brussels. The name of this waffle stand is from the water fountain statue of the little boy that is pissing, named Manneken Pis.
Located in the Kyoto train station on one of the upper levels. You will be able to smell the sweetness when you are close.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Sally L.Los Angeles, United States29725318427 Dec 2017
Holy moly. Probably the best belgian waffles i've ever had! My friends and I were at the Kyoto JR station preparing to get on our train. However, we didn't have breakfast yet so when we walked by this place, it smelled so good we couldn't resist!
They had so many different flavors like matcha, strawberry, chocolate, etc. I had trouble deciding which one to get, so I got 2! I got a matcha one and a strawberry one. They give you the option to get either room temperature or warm, so of course I went with warm. Oh boy, was it delicious! The outside was nice and crispy, but the center was soft and chewy. They weren't too sweet either. I ate these bad boys so quickly, I wish I had gotten more! But we needed to get on our train, so maybe another time!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kim N.Orange County, United States33012438310 Oct 2018
Amongst the heavy foot traffic at the station, I stumbled upon Manneken by chance. Freshly made waffles is one of my favorite smells, which enticed me to get one. I must say that I was absolutely in the perfect time and place. This little waffle has made such an impression on me. I would convert to #teamwaffle. It's so heavenly. Perfectly crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. There is a slight coat of syrup dressed throughout the ridges. The plain one is their number one. I concur with this. Additional flavors take away from the beauty of such a simplistic treat. They taste way better warm than room temp. Sadly, my second trip didn't live up to the first. Tbh I would've docked a star, It makes that much of a difference. Maybe if you ask, you shall receive? Regardless when in Kyoto, get yourself this Belgian delicacy.

This is located in the Kyoto JR station near the nara line (go towards gate 8, 9-- I passed by it going to the JR for nara and again for fushimi inari).
We tried a plain and an almond waffle (preferred) for 280¥. Not super sweet but good. I wish they were warm and crispier though.

Woah these waffles are so good! I've passed by a few of these stores and it always smells amazingly delicious! I especially love that they have fun fall flavors. The line was short and went fast so I got both a chestnut and sweet potato. The latter was more sweeter. I like that it had some actual chestnut pieces inside!

Our friend recommend this waffle stand at Kyoto station and we followed our noses! Delicious mini waffles that have a slight crispy glaze on the outside. We've been by twice. The first time we got the chocolate and the matcha. Both were equally delicious although the chocolate reminds me of a glazed donuts with less sugar. We also tried the azuki (red beans) and caramel chocolate. I could taste the azuki and preferred the caramel one.

Yummy waffles on the go. Used to grab one or two every time we passed through the shop in the morning. It smells so heavenly that one cant resists buying. We tried the chocolate and strawberry flavoured waffles and both tasted pretty good even when they are cold. We also tried vanilla and chocolate sandwich/roll. The vanilla roll was very good, cream was light and fluffy - melt in the mouth kinds. Didn't like the chocolate sandwich as much though, cream was on the heavier side. If you are at kyoto station, i definitely recommend trying the waffles !

This was the most delicious waffle. I recommend picking one up as you are either leaving or entering the train station. Just follow the smell. They serve most of the waffles hot. We tried the matcha, maple and cookies and cream waffles all were delicious. I plan to grab one next time I'm at Kyoto station.
