Access to public health insurance for foreigners was one of the five essential legislative changes proposed by Czech Ombudsman Anna Šabatová on 22 March. In a statement, Šabatová said she supports the long-term efforts of non-governmental organisations who keep criticizing this structural deficit of the Czech health insurance system. “Foreigners and their children residing in the Czech Republic should have the right to participate in our public health insurance system and I consider it a mistake the fact that it is still not so,” she said.
