The acclaimed Aussie songstress is fresh off a massive tour of the UK

More Ainslie Wills More Ainslie Wills

Lauded Melburnian singer-songwriter Ainslie Wills has unveiled a cracking live video for new single Running Second, proudly premiering with The Music today, and has complemented the visual accompaniment for the tune with a pair of newly announced headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne — her first since 2015 — next month.

Undoubtedly still riding high off her recent 20-date jaunt through the UK (which, no big deal, included an outing at The Great Escape), Wills will take to the stage at Sydney's Lansdowne Hotel, and Howler, in Melbourne, to flaunt her freshest tune alongside old favourites and track list-mates from her next, keenly awaited, EP, due out later this year.

Though it's been a while between drinks for headline outings, Wills has not been resting on her laurels by any stretch — though, with the kind of accolades received by her 2015 EP, Oh The Gold, and 2013 Australian Music Prize-nominated album You Go Your Way, I'll Go Mine, she'd be forgiven for doing so.

Rather, she's been spending her time, as mentioned, touring around the place, racking up supports for acclaimed artists such as Leon Bridges, Grouplove, Michael Kiwanuka, Hiatus Kaiyote and Vance Joy, as well as building her international following through some well-earned airplay on BBC Radio 6.

She's also no stranger to festival stages, having built her CV to include performances at Falls Festival, Splendour In The Grass, NYE On The Hill, Queenscliff Music Festival and WOMADelaide.

Suffice to say, Wills is an artist not content to sit back and watch time pass her by, so best keep your eyes peeled for additional dates to bolster these shows as the release of her new EP draws ever nearer.

See theGuide for more details about her upcoming shows. She'll be joined at both by Sydney troubadour Rhiannon Atkinson-Howatt, aka Merpire.

While you're waiting, sink your senses into this splendid, stripped-back version of Running Second (out now, by the way), which provides ample room for Wills' formidable vocal and lyrical talents to shine in true style.
