MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) --- A UW-Madison professor says it's the golden age for podcasts, but he's worried some of those podcasts may soon disappear.

That's why Jeremy Morris has created a database of podcasts called PodcastRE.

Morris is a media and cultural studies professor who is dedicating his time to making sure these audio files are archived and easily accessible for future generations.

He has already archived over 150,000 podcasts and is on his way to adding more.

"Historians in the future can look back and say 'okay what were people listening to after the election in 2016?' or 'what were people talking about or what were the issues of the time,' " said Jeremy Morris, Associate Professor of Media and Cultural Studies and Communication Arts at UW-Madison.

Morris's work is one of 21 projects chosen for the UW-2020 WARF Discovery Initiative Award.

The grant provides funding to help people dream and achieve large scale projects.
