Fat rat will go head to head with 12 other podgy pets in national slimming competition

Rat Mr T, who weights 1kg, will face rivals include labrador Sadie at 42.2kg (6st 9lb) and tabby Benji at 11.3kg

THIS rat’s got so fat scoffing porridge that it tips the scales at 1kg (2.1lb).

Mr T will go head to head with 12 podgy pets in a national slimming competition.

They include labrador Sadie at 42.2kg (6st 9lb) and tabby Benji at 11.3kg (1st 11lb).

PDSA Vet, Olivia Anderson-Nathan, said: "Pet obesity is an epidemic that is seriously impacting the lives of millions of pets across the country.

"As with humans, carrying excess weight has serious health implications for our four-legged friends.

Olivia added: "If owners are worried about their pet's weight they should seek advice from their local vet or vet nurse.

"They will make sure pets are on the right type of diet, being fed the correct amount and work with owners to help increase their pet's exercise levels."Mr T, from Neath, South Wales, aims to lose half its body weight in the PDSA contest. The winner will be crowned at the end of the year.
