A77 crash driver killed instantly after van smashed into lorry parked in lay-by near Kilmarnock

A SCOTS van driver has died in a horror smash with a lorry in Kilmarnock.
The 35-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash the A77 Bypass at around 1:45pm yesterday.
Police and paramedics rushed to the busy road after the Fiat Ducato van he was driving collided with a lorry parked in a lay-by by the carriageway but he sadly passed away.
The 27-year-old lorry driver was uninjured in the accident, which saw the road closed southbound for several hours.

Cops are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage as they investigate the crash.
Constable John Denholm said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who saw the Fiat Ducato van driving on the A77 before the crash happened.
"If anyone has dash-cam footage that may help our investigation, I would ask them to get in contact with officers.
"Anyone with information should contact Road Policing Officers at Irvine through 101 quoting reference number 1894 of 17th January 2019."
