A Perfect Fit #2

On the Plus Side

Rate this book
The second book in a laugh-out-loud new contemporary romance series from Alison Bliss!

Big girls don't cry. They go after what they want.

Thanks to her bangin' curves, Valerie Carmichael has always turned heads-with the exception of seriously sexy Logan Mathis. Just Valerie's luck that the object of her lust-filled affection is also best friends with her overprotective brother. But Valerie's determined to get Logan's attention . . . even if it means telling a teeny little lie to get a job at his new bar.

Logan can't remember a time when Valerie didn't secretly fuel all his hottest fantasies. Now the curvaceous she-devil is working behind his bar, tempting him every damn night. It's only when he finds Valerie's naughty things-to-do list that Logan decides to break every rule in the book-by making each red-hot deed a reality.

No one warned them that they were going to fall this hard. And no one warned them that sometimes the smallest secrets can have the biggest consequences.

“James nodded at her. “What’s new, Val?”
“Um, that wasn’t what it looked like.”
"Doesn’t matter whether it was or not. You’re an adult. What you do is not my business.”
Valerie blinked. She’d never had a man tell her that before and wasn’t sure how to respond”
The above quote encapsulates everything that was wrong with this story. Unnecessary drama and immaturity galore. No, thanks.

On The Plus Side is the second book from Alison Bliss' A Perfect Fit series, but my first book from this author. I may not have read the first book but I can guarantee I'm going to be doing so really soon because I loved this story.

These characters were crazy cute together and I loved getting to see them finally give in to their attraction for one another. Logan, being Valerie's older brothers friend, always denied how he felt for the outgoing, curvy beauty. But when he moved back to his hometown and Valerie forced her way back in to his life his willpower to stay away from her dissolves.

Valerie was a really fun character and it was refreshing to read about a heroine that was happy with who she was. I loved that she didn't let Logan hide from her and made him realize that her brother didn't dictate her life, no matter how hard he tried. She and Logan had some very steamy chemistry so it would have been a shame if she let her brother ruin that.

Overall, this book is certainly a recommend from me and I hope everyone else will love these characters as much as I did. Now I can;t wait to get more of this authors stories!

This was an okay read for me. I didn't like this book as much as I did the first book in the series, Size Matters. I hate to say it but there it is. There were parts that I liked a lot and other parts that made me want to pull my hair out. I did find this book to be a fairly quick read and I did want to see Valerie and Logan get their happily ever after.

Logan is back in town for the first time in a lot of years. He has just opened a new bar and needs it to be successful pretty quickly so that he can help his mom out. Valerie has always had a crush on her older brother's best friend and isn't sure what to do now that he is back in town. When Logan finds himself in need of a comptent bartender, Valerie decides that she is the right person for the job.

Let's get to some of the stuff that bothered me about this book. Valerie's brother is over the top. I hated him and can't understand why Valerie has allowed him to have so much say in her life. I liked Valerie a whole lot less just because she doesn't stand up to her brother. I think that this book would have been so much better if his character just wasn't around. Not only did Valerie not stand up to her brother, she didn't always make Logan listen to her. She is supposed to be this really confident character but she doesn't speak up when it really matters. I just didn't get it.

I liked Logan and Valerie as a couple and thought they had a lot of chemistry. I really did want to see them figure out how to make things work with each other. The sexier moments in this book were very well done and sometimes even laced with a bit of humor at times. I thought that their feelings for each other felt really genuine.

This book can easily be read as a stand alone story even though it is the second book in the series. I did enjoy seeing the characters from the first book in this story but this story would work well on its own. I plan to read more from Alison Bliss in the future.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley.

Initial Thoughts
I really liked some things about this book but other parts drove me crazy. It was really just an ok read for me in the end.

-Dipped into my stash of ARCs because I was just jonesing for a good BBW romance. Now, I liked parts of the first book, but overall I wasn’t a big fan, so I was a little hesitant. I needn’t have worried, I really enjoyed Valerie and Logan's crazy romance.

-The cover is stunning. I LOVE this cover. It’s an actual curvy girl on a BBW romance, which is always great. I cannot tell you how it irks me when the cover is way off as a physical representation of the characters. If the publisher is so lazy as to ignore the content of the story, it makes a difference to me. Please use an actual curvy gal, or a person of color, or a redhead, or aliens, whatever. If that’s what the book’s about, the cover should reflect it. It’s what draws me in as a reader, and it is RARE that the cover isn’t a factor in my choice to stop and even look at a book. That’s just a fact. Make me feel, as a reader, that you actually took the time to read what you published. *gets off soapbox* Ahem, anyway, moving on…

-This is the second book in the Perfect Fit series by Ms. Bliss and I cannot tell you how much more I loved this than the first. Valerie is a whole lotta woman who knows the power of her curves. She’s been overprotected by her brother Brett, but the one man who’s always been in her heart is...you guessed it, his best friend Logan. When Logan comes back to town after many years away, opening up a new bar in town and desperately trying to help his mom, Valerie cannot resist helping out. Well, Valerie ends up working at Logan’s bar and a certain list fall into the wrong (or is it right?) hands, and yep, romance happens.

-Standalone. It is not necessary to read that one to read this book. Since I have mixed feelings about that book, it’s for the best.

-Loved the heroine. Valerie was confident, but not unbelievably so. She knows what she’s got and is not afraid to flaunt it. Logan loves every inch of her curves, which is fantastic. I will say her weight’s never the focal point of the story and that was just fine with me. I am not a fan of BBW romances where the negative self-image is soooo relentless that it makes it difficult to read, so props to Ms. Bliss.

-If you tease me with Flashes of an 80s movie, yeah I’m gonna like it. It’s only shades of Cocktail, but it was enough to make me smile. I liked the level of detail to the set up of the bar, and I think the storyline worked well. There was a plot point that’s set up early but the payoff, when it comes, makes sense. I think it could have been developed more, but overall I was fine with the way things played out.

-Only wish the ending didn’t feel so abrupt. If I have a quibble, it’s that the ending just kind of comes quickly (heh) and there’s no epilogue. Now, every book doesn’t need an epilogue, but I would have loved a moment where I got to enjoy everything being resolved and the beginning of the HEA, if you know what I mean.

-Give me Max. So, this is my request. I am ready and willing to read Max’s story and praying he gets his own BBW heroine to love.

description

I really enjoyed this BBW romance with a heroine who doesn’t despise herself and a hero who loves every little bit of her PLUS the story itself works. I love it. I am looking forward to more.

Curvy heroines and the heroes who pant after every luscious curve. Sign me up! A bit of sass, a whole lotta sexy and a touch of family drama? Oh, yeah, On the Plus Side was a real good time.

The quick of it is that Val has been smitten with her older brother's best friend since they were kids. And...not gotten the time of day. He, in fact, bailed and left town for 8 some years to make sure nothing happened between them. Homeboy was running scared from what Val was dishing up. Mmhm. But now he's back in town and Val's definitely not a little kid anymore and, well, things get a little pervy in the best possible way as she starts working at his new bar. They just have to keep her overprotective brother from finding out. Oy!

Val and Logan. Yall. I loved that Val rocked her plus sized curves and had confidence to spare. She's the life of the party and was easy to like. I liked her sass. And Logan is all kinds of sexy and sweet. He really tries to be there for the people in his life and do what's right.

Their romance? Whew boy. Well they do steam things up quite a bit. And get into some very naughty situations. Always a plus! They were fun together, too. I really love the slightly taboo sibling/best friend set up. It's fun watching them try to figure that dynamic out and him with not seeing her as a little kid anymore.

I did have a couple quibbles. And this will probably sound pretty ranty. Sorry! I just had some growls with my woohoos! on this one. Obviously not a deal breaker but they knocked things from a solid 4 to a 3.5

>>> Val's brother was a head case. WAY over the top protective and needed meds or some jail time to cool is ass down. A restraining order, maybe.

>>> The guys didn't always listen to Val and it drove me crazy. Older sibling kinda thing, I guess, with cutting her off. I was like let the damn girl talk!!! She was WAY nicer about it, too. I woulda cut someone. lol

>>> Then the biggest issue I had. Val did something that totally fucked up Logan's life towards the end and it was turned around so he was the one groveling/apologizing which was ridiculous since he had a right to be fucking livid over it. I thought everyone brushed off her action way too easily because 'she didn't know' but while she didn't know the extent of what would happen she did make the choice that caused it and knew that was a wrong choice when it was made. So I had a hard time on that bit.

Overall, though, while I had some grumbles I did have a great time with On the Plus Side. I laughed quite often and, yeah, fanned myself, too. lol It was a very easy read that kept me coming back for more even when I should have been working around the house.

On the Plus Side was a fun and steamy book!

The main character, Val, was a sassy and confident woman. She rocked her curves and she was completely comfortable in her skin. I really appreciated her confidence and her body positivity. Her witty remarks also made me laugh out loud numerous times! I wish I was more like her! Even though she was a bit immature at times, I really liked Val.

Logan was the main male character, and he was extremely sexy. Logan had a dominant and alluring sex appeal. He was also extremely loyal to his friends, which was a very admirable trait. I liked how driven and dedicated Logan was to his passions in life.

Logan tended to be a bit overbearing at times with his overprotectiveness, just like Val's brother. Both of the men drove me crazy with how protective they were. I understood that they cared about Val, and I loved that, but it was a tad overwhelming. Also, it annoyed me that they didn't always listen to Val and let her tell her side of the story. However, I still liked both of those characters.

The sexual tension between Logan and Val was INSANE! PHEWWWWW! TALK ABOUT STEAMY! They had a ton of naughty moments that made me want to fan myself off! If you are in the mood for some sexy time, then you definitely will enjoy this book. Their relationship started off as extremely physical, but I liked that they really got to know each other more as the book progressed. It was sweet to see them fall in love. Also, they had great banter made me cackle multiple times.

Overall, this was a quick and sexy book that I would recommend to people if they are in the mood for a fun treat!

The 2nd in this series. I binge read it today while the rain made for perfect reading weather. It was as good if not better than #1. The humor was great. The sex was steamier. I look forward to reading #3 when it debuts in 2018!

Valerie Carmichael is a vivacious, confident, party girl with curves. She never has a problem getting male attention. But the one man she never could have, just returned to town. Logan Mathis is her older brother's best friend and her long time crush. And he is back in Granite, Texas after an eight year absence. Logan is the one man that drives her crazy by making her react, frustrating her, or hurting her feelings. He jumps to conclusions, riles her up, and then avoids her.

But she has no idea that Logan suffers from the same affliction she does...wanting the one you can't have. He is loyal to her brother and understands that Valerie always has been and will be off limits to him. He does not want to risk his friendship, and he also does not feel worthy of her. He also has some other things going on in his life like starting up his new bar and trying to help his mother. He really does not have time to be distracted by the girl that drives him nuts. But when he needs help at the bar and she won't take no for an answer, he will have no choice but to co-exist with her.

Logan tries all the tricks for denial, resistance, and avoidance, but his jealousy, possessiveness, and need for control is going to be tested to the breaking point. The teasing, taunting, and push and pull adds to the sexual tension. And once they finally break, it is all the way. Their forbidden flirting and attraction flames into a hot secret affair. Their teenage crushes have continued into adulthood with lust and unresolved feelings. But they not only have to keep it a secret from her brother, but now they are also in a boss and employee situation.

It is refreshing that Valerie is a curvy girl but never focuses on her weight. She wears tight, sexy clothes and heels and is comfortable in her own skin. She is a great combo of sassy, smart, and sweet. And Logan is so enamored of her that he sees her as too good for him. Usually it is the overweight girl with the insecurities and not the tall, sexy man. He is always trying to make up for past mistakes, but he is caring and protective of those in his life. But he is a bit overwhelmed and in over his head at times.

They are living in a lie, but they are also not telling each other everything either. And little white lies can blow up in big ways. Fear of discovery, guilt, and insecurities impact them. And when it is all out in the open, they are going to have to decide to either to fight for their chance or just give up.

This is a forbidden-best-friend's-little-sister-second-chance-romance with humor, heart and passion. There were a few things near the end that bugged me a bit, but overall it was a sweet, fun, and engaging read. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I enjoyed getting more with Leah and Sam (Size Matters) and seeing a bit more progression in their relationship. Sam's friend, Max is also back in this book, and Valerie's brother, Brett is featured. I am interested to see if either Max or Brett will be the hero in More to Love.

Are you ready to laugh out loud? ON THE PLUS SIDE is a sexy sweet love story with a heroine I absolutely adored! Alison Bliss writes sassy quips and witty banter with the best of them and never fails to make me actually laugh! Her characters are easy to root for, easy to love and it's so easy to get lost in their story.

Valerie Carmichael has always wanted Logan. He's back in town after eight years and she's not passing on this second chance to let Logan know exactly how she feels about him and what she wants. Logan feels the same way about Valerie, but there's so many reasons he shouldn't give in to the temptation. But she's irresistible and he does...

They have their bumps in the road and Valerie's brother Brett does his best to be a roadblock, but these two are meant to be. Logan and Valerie are not just hot together they are perfectly matched. The story is fun, sexy, and kept me turning the pages. I couldn't put it down until I'd read the whole book! I highly recommend it! 4.5 stars

This was a cute, fun read. However, I felt like Val's brother and her lover were just too much. If I didn't think too much about the details, I enjoyed the story. I'm not normally into brother's best friend stories - mainly because they're so overbearing. I really liked the first book in this series and I'm glad I read this one - it was nice to see Val find love and to visit with characters from the first book. I will read the others in this series.

I picked this from my bookshelf to read. I'm voluntarily sharing my honest review.

One of the many things that I love about Bliss is her way of consistently bringing old characters back into the new books. It's nice to be able to catch up with the characters you fell in love with from the previous book. And in this one, Leah and Sam don't take center stage but they are a big part of the plot and our new leading lady's life.

I could really just go on and on about how amazing this book and Bliss are. But it would probably make you uncomfortable after I start to drone on and on about character development, how full the plot is, the pace of the story and everything in between because I would start to sound like a nutjob. But this story really is that great. All of the characters are so fully fleshed out that you feel as if they have become your friends by the time you get to the end of the novel. The pacing is set so that there isn't a dull moment and you'll find yourself not wanting to skip a single word because you don't want to miss something. And this is something that happens with each of the Bliss novels. You will love every single moment that you get to spend with her books.

This book is sexy as hell. I was just waiting for my Kindle to burst into flames and start melting in my hands through some of these passages. Good Lord. I'm happily married but I decided that I need to find myself a Logan for my second marriage. You know when you read something sexy and you get paranoid thinking that everyone around you knows what dirty stuff you're reading? Yeah. I had that multiple times with this book. While at the doctor's office. I know that my cheeks were just flaming with embarrassment and I was sure that the little security cameras could see what I was reading. Which is completely illogical but always happens when I read the naughty bits in one of my Bliss books.

Anyway ... a perfect book, a perfect fit (get it?) in the series and a perfect way to spend a summer afternoon by the pool. After you check this series out, you should totally look at her other series, Tangled in Texas - it is one of my all-time favorite series!

I'm not a fan of the idea of having a series of books on plus-size women. And yet, I love how the author deals with the theme. Check Size Matters right now if you haven't yet. Thus, I couldn't feel happier when I was offered the opportunity to review this.

For this second book, we get Valerie who seems to overflow with confidence and sex appeal, except when it comes to her long-time and her brother's best friend. Logan now is back to town and has suddenly become her boss?

Because I have read it, which is the first in the series, it was impossible not to compare. While Leah, from Size Matters, lacked confidence right because of her weight, Valerie doesn't care about it so this book didn't focus on such issues. She is just an overweight heroine and the topic is rarely mentioned again. I find that to be a win because it gives representation without becoming a fetish.

At the same time, weight was an interesting topic in the first book. Without it, the second book brought nothing that interesting. In other words, we just got a romance like you and me and everyone have read anywhere else already. The other negative was Logan. I confess I started by liking him but I grew more and more tired of his reactions. Not my book boyfriend.

But don't worry, we get lots of funny scenes to compensate. Also, Valerie is a wonderful protagonist. I pity her for having those many controlling men in her life but I guess she should be fine, judging from how well she knows to defend herself.

For those who enjoyed the first book, the main characters are back in this one, and get enough space for us to know how they are doing. For those who haven't read—read it. Kidding, you really don't need the first one to understand this. Logan, the main guy, wasn't even there so the story is practically all new.

I think Size Matter had a something else On The Plus Side lacked. It doesn't mean I enjoyed a lot reading it. This will be a perfect beach read, I'm sure.

Honest review based on an ARC provided by Netgalley. Many thanks to the publisher for this opportunity.

If you are looking for great contemporary romances with a side of whip cream, then; you need not look any further than Alison Bliss. This series is just what romance readers have been craving. I instantly fell in love with the first book and could not wait to get my hands on the second book.

While, I enjoyed this book, I did miss the witty banter. There were so many lines that had me laughing from the first book. There was not that witty banter in this book. Yet, the fun, flirty romance was still there as well as characters that I loved. Valerie may not be a super model but she has more confidence then any super model I know. I love that she embraced her curves. Although, she was not the only one that loved them. Logan did as well. The chemistry shared between these two was amazing. Logan is a ten...handsome, caring, and a great kisser.

I do have to give a shout out to Valier's brother, Brett. The way he acted like a older brother reacting to the way guys looked at Valerie was funny and endearing. I can't wait to continue reading more books from this author.

On The Plus Side by Alison Bliss.

Valerie has always turned heads and has never been short on male attention and affection from all but the man she really wants. Her brothers best friend, Logan. Logan has finally returned home and has opened up his own bar/club in the hope that he'll manage to raise funds to get his mother out of trouble. When he finds Val's (not) to-do list, he does his best to ensure they tick everything off.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much that I enjoyed about this book. The characters lacked maturity and came across as annoying, especially the way they dealt with issues. I was expecting more humor and quality as I have with the previous books I have read from this author. I will say that I enjoyed the cameo appearances from characters in the previous book of the series. Both books in the series are standalones.

Valerie and Logan have been attracted to each other for years, but nothing ever came of it because of an age difference between the two and Valerie’s overprotective brother, who just happened to be Logan’s best friend. Eight years later, Logan is back in town and that attraction from so long ago cannot be contained and the sparks that had started years before finally explode into a raging inferno that can not be denied.

Oh, my gosh! On the Plus Side was absolutely amazing y’all! I knew I was going to like this series after reading Size Matters, but now, I am hooked and totally in love. I liked Valerie when she was introduced in the last book, but her character totally shined in this installment and I believe that is what made this story so amazing. Valerie has so much confidence in herself and doesn’t back down from anything….well, maybe her brother, Brent. And Logan? I totally fell in love with him. Although he had a tendency to turn all cave-man-like (which was totally hot by the way!), he had a heart of gold that was just too sweet.

There is so much to like in this story. Alison Bliss has created characters that many of us can relate too and doesn’t sugar coat anything. Her characters and their situations are real which makes this story flow so effortlessly. With humor, drama and steamy sex scenes, this book has it all and was truly a delight to read.

Right from the start, I knew that this was going to be a fun story, and I was not disappointed. I simply adored this book! It was such a cute story that had me laughing out loud throughout. On the Plus Side had just the right amount of humor and passion which made this a highly enjoyable read. Alison Bliss has a true talent for creating amazing stories that readers will instantly connect too. On the Plus Side could be read as a stand-alone, but if you haven't already, I urge you to pick up Size Matters. This is such a fun series that I know fans of contemporary romance will fall in love with it.

Overall, this was an amazing story that I couldn’t put down – wonderful from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Val has had a crush on her brother's best friend, Logan, but he's never given her the time of day. He left town specifically so nothing were to happen-something he had to do or face his best friend. Now he's back in town and Val isn't quite the "little" sister anymore and she's got banging curves to boot! When Val starts working at his new bar, things escalate pretty quick! Now to keep big bro from finding out and going ballistic!

I love the fact that the heroine isn't your typical, but one that embraces who she is and her curves are part of the package, period! The cover conveys that attitude as well! The book screams normal girl and that's what we are given. On the Plus side is book two in the A Perfect Fit series and each features a different curvy heroine. You can grab any of the books and read them as standalones.

Val has spunk! She's sassy and sexy! She knows what she wants and when presented with an opportunity, she takes it! She was easy to like and the couple was easy to see together.

Now I understand being protective of your little sister, but Val's brother was a notch or two over the top! He needed to back off-like way off! He also never lets her finish what she's saying-just butts right in! Annoying to say the least! She needed to get a backbone and set him straight!

I highly recommend this read! Fun-yes! Sweet-yes! Spicy-of course, yes! Have a bit of fun and start this today!

On the Plus Side is a heroine in love with her brother’s best friend romance. It was fun to read a plus size heroine that is confident in her sex appeal. In fact, the author doesn’t even make this a focal point at all. Valerie is just a girl that doesn’t lack confidence and doesn’t lack male attention. The exception to that is Logan whom she has been in love with forever. He does make her doubt herself because he doesn’t seem interested. She also has an extremely over protective brother that doesn’t “allow” her to do anything.

Valerie soon convinces Logan to hire her at his new bar. Logan needs the help but Valerie also sees it as her chance to get closer to Logan. It’s not long before sparks fly and Logan gives in to his feelings for Valerie.

I wanted to like this more and I probably would have rated it higher but the men in the story made this annoying. Valerie was a bit immature at times but for the most part I really liked her. Logan was rude and an immature brat. He misread situations all the time and instead of letting Valerie explain he would constantly interrupt her. I believe the author was trying to create tension or angst here but all it did was make me dislike his character. Valerie’s brother was ridiculously over protective but this is explained towards the end and it was kind of sweet.

All in all, this was a cute story and I will definitely read the next book.

This is the second book in the series. I really enjoyed this one. It had the humor like the first book. Valerie has so much self confidence makes me wish I was the confidant. She's always had a thing for her brother's best friend. Now Logan is back in town and maybe it's a sign to take the bull by the horns when it comes to Logan. Logan fights everything within himself when it comes to his attraction to Valerie, but when temptation is right in his bar can he find the will to no touch Valerie? If you like dirty talkers then Logan is the man for you because he's champ when it comes to dirty talk. I like that Valerie is best friends with Leah from Size Matters because we get see how Sam and Leah are enjoying their HEA.

I thoroughly enjoyed this very funny book about bartender Logan Mathis and Valerie Carmichael, his best friend's little sister. Nothing like having big brother around when you are trying to pick up your childhood crush! Logan and Valerie both have secrets that could tear them apart. The author is doing a fantastic job on her new plus-sized heroine series!

I almost didn't read this book because I didn't care much for the first one but I was pleasently surprised with the story and I was very into it the entire read. I loved the characters and I liked that it wasn't all about her weight. But still played a small part to show readers that you can be plus side and still awesome.
Great Read!!

On the Plus Side by Alison Bliss is book two in her A Perfect Fit series and I must say I enjoyed this book very much. Starring Valerie Carmichael, the best friend of Leah Martin (heroine of book #1), and the man she has had a crush on since she was younger. With the bold and energetic, Valerie leading the way, this book is nothing short but fun.

Valerie Carmichael is confident with her curves and completely knows how to get a man’s attention, except for the one man that she has always wanted… Logan Mathis, her overprotective older brother’s best-friend. When he left town two days after her high-school graduation, she never expected to see him again, but now he was back in their hometown of Granite, Texas and just opened a new bar, Bottom’s Up. Attending his grand opening with her brother Brett, she hoped to finally show him that she was a woman and not a little girl. However, when an incident involving Valerie leads to Logan’s head bartender suddenly quitting, Valerie decides to step in and lend a helping hand. Seeing an opportunity to finally get Logan to notice her without her big brother around 24/7, Valerie is willing to take a chance at working in Logan’s bar even if it means telling a little white lie.

Logan Mathis has always noticed Valerie, even when she was seventeen and he was twenty-one, and that was the problem. She is off-limits as the sister of his best-friend, and he is out of her league. She deserves someone better than the son of a gambler. Back in town to open his new bar, Bottom’s Up, he’s determined to make it a success and ensure he makes enough money to save his mother’s home. He has no time for distractions especially of the beautifully curvaceous kind. Unfortunately for him, Valerie is a siren and when he finds her naughty-things-to-do-list, he can’t help but rise to the challenge, and help her check off each of the items on her list. As Logan and Valerie play their games and spend more time together secretly, neither are prepared for how hard they fall in love. However, once the secrets come out will their newfound love withstand the fire or crash and burn?

Alison Bliss’ second installment to her A Perfect Fit series was filled with lots of heat. Val and Logan have definite chemistry and it just ignites on the pages. I loved how witty and sassy Val is, and how confident she is throughout the whole book. She has a big heart and I love how close she and her brother are. How they truly care for each other and how she respects and loves him even when he is overbearing at times. I also liked how strong and determined Logan is. He wants to help his mom and he’ll do everything he can to make sure she keeps her home. He also is very loyal to his friends and his friendship to Valerie’s brother, Brett, is important to him. These two characters are very much a perfect fit for each other and I couldn’t help but enjoy their story.

I also enjoyed that we got to see Leah and Sam again from book one and how their relationship has progressed. Leah in this book is more confident in this installment than she was in the previous novel and it was interesting to see her be the one to encourage Valerie to speak with Logan and giving guy-advice. I loved their friendship and how they support one another in this book and the previous book. I also liked Max in this book. He played a more involved role in this novel, and he shined in this novel. He kind of makes me think of Logan Huntzberger from Gilmore Girls, the way he is a trouble-maker yet kind with a good heart to his friends. He’s a great friend to Sam and is a good friend to Valerie in this book. I hope we get to see a book for him in this series as well.

Overall, On the Plus Side by Alison Bliss is a funny and enjoyable romance. Perfect for a summer read and I very much recommend. I can’t wait to read more by Ms. Bliss.

Somehow the my best friend's sibling is quickly becoming one of my most favorite tropes in contemporary romance today. And let me tell you, Alison Bliss wrote one of the best books to contribute to this trope. From the first moment that I snagged this book off of the ARC pile sitting on my nightstand, I didn't want to put it down. I was actually kicking myself for not picking up this book sooner and reading an Alison Bliss book sooner.

She knows how to write the perfect, dirty talking, cocky alpha. I fell in love with Logan Mathis as soon as he hit the page. But more than that, I fell in love with the beautifully confident Valerie Carmichael. I mean we're talking total girl crush, the girl you'd love to be best friends with in real life. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to read about a romance heroine who is so sure and confident of herself. Yes, we all have our insecurities about our looks, weight etc but Valerie was the perfect example of how we should all aspire to be. I just loved that didn't turn into an annoying, insecure character who became TSTL (Too Stupid To Live) just because she has a different body type than other women. I also loved that she wasn't afraid to go after what she wanted in life. Whether it be the man she's loved from afar for years or a sudden career change. Basically I want to be Valerie Carmichael when I grow up.

Not only was I huge fan of the plot and writing style in this book, but the sex scenes we're totally HOT! At one point I thought my book was going to melt my hands! And the humor and witty banter between Logan and Val had me full on snort cackling and belly laughing out loud! I just loved how these characters leaped off the page.

I can't highly recommend this book enough! While this is the second book in this series and can totally be read as a standalone without having to go back and read the previous book. But if you're like me and absolutely LOVE this book, you'll end up wanting to go back and start from the beginning. I know that SIZE MATTERS is going on my TBR for July!

I loved the first book in this series. I was so excited that there was going to be a book with Valerie's story. It did not disappoint!

Valerie may be a curvy girl but she knows how to work them and she knows how to turn heads. That's all moot point right now since Logan Mathis is back in town. She has had a crush on him for it seems like forever. Now that he's back she can't avoid him forever, he's her brother's best friend. The first time she sees him again all the feelings she thought she had moved on from, come rushing back. He's just gotten better with age. Her brother's best friend has always treated her like a little sister, maybe she can get him to change his mind and see her as the woman she is now.

Logan is back home to open a bar and help his mom. He is glad to be back, he's missed his mom and his friend Brent, and other things. He has always thought that Valerie was a dream, she's beautiful and lush but she's untouchable. He's always known that she's had a crush on him but he couldn't go there, it goes against his friendship with Brent. It's harder to ignore her now, she's got a confidence that oozes out of her. But can he risk his friendship and the distraction of her for the reasons he's home in the first place?

I love when the heroine of the story is what society considers a plus size girl. In reality, Valerie is a regular sized woman, she may be a little chubby but she's got banging curves and knows that she's gorgeous. I loved watching the back and forth with Logan and Valerie. They've got a chemistry that leaps off the page. This is a fantastic read. I'd suggest you read the first book in this series so you know a different side of Valerie and so you don't get that story ruined for you!

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

Unfortunately, this book fell a bit flat for me. It's more of a 2.5 star read that I'm rounding up to 3 stars. There just wasn't much that I enjoyed about this book. The characters were childish and came across as annoying, especially in the way they dealt with issues. I was also expecting more humor in this story than I actually found.

Valerie put up with a lot of flack from both her brother Brett and her love interest Logan. I kept wondering why she allowed that kind of smothering overprotectiveness, until it got explained at the end, when she finally stood up for herself. However, she did a lot of really stupid stuff that wound up causing a lot of problems, and it really had me railing at her. She was clueless! I almost put her in the too stupid to live category a few times because of it.

Logan wasn't that great of a hero, as he allowed sex to get in the way of keeping his business. I couldn't see how he could realistically "forget" about something like her certification, no matter how good the sex was! I also didn't like his attitude about getting together with Valerie, because it was too multi-faceted, so it seemed like excuses.

All things considered, this was a quick read that I found mildly enjoyable. Here's hoping the third book in the series will be better!

True beauty comes from within. As a society, we seem to forget that not everyone is a size 0-4. So I applaud Ms. Bliss for creating a heroine with curves that has the confidence and heart to speak her mind and love herself. Like most people, when it comes to matters of the heart is when the complications begin. The object of Valerie's girlhood fantasies has always been the bane of her existence, but the keeper of her heart all the same. Distance, time, nor age has changed that on her end. Too bad the man in question is just as determined to keep her at arm's length. Maybe this time she'll change his mind. If they don't kill each other first. On the Plus Side uses light humor, a romantic story and a sweetheart of a duo to deliver a positive message of self - love and second chances.

5 Candi Kisses and some Brotherly Avoidance

Feeling a little blue? Need a pick me up? Well this is the book for you. Alison Bliss is a master at telling a great, hopeful, feel good story. When you have an over-protective brother and you can't make a move without him deciding whether you can or not, it really isn't going to end well for someone. But have your OP Brothers best friend who you have loved forever start to see "YOU" then it really is a matter of someone accepting and someone being upset.

I loved this story of Valerie and Logan. Love does indeed conquer all including meddling siblings.

Can't wait for the next Alison Bliss story. They are pure "Bliss" to read.

After reading Plus Size I couldn't wait to read Valerie's story. Just like the other one I was laughing out loud because of some of the things she did.

Being a bigger woman I loved the books because it shows that even bigger women can find love. I know I will be reading more of this series as long as they keep getting written because I feel it gives us bigger women the courage to embrace ourselves and not hide away from the negative things we are told.

Curvy Valerie Charmichael has always been able to attract male attention, except for Logan Mathis, her brother’s best friend. When he moves back to town, Valerie does everything she can to make sure she gets his attention this time, one way or another.
Unfortunately, I just didn’t like this book. The plot sounded like it would be a quick and hot read, but the more I read, the more I didn’t like it. The biggest problem was that I didn’t like the characters right from the beginning. I didn’t like the interaction between them starting when they saw each other again.
