Austin Police have identified a man killed in a shooting in north Austin on Wednesday evening.

Police responded to a shots fired call at AAA Fire & Safety at 6700 Guadalupe Street around 7:48 p.m.

When they arrived, officers found 59-year-old Majid Hemmasi in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. A female employee was also shot in the parking lot, but was able to retreat inside the business.

Despite resuscitation efforts, Hemmasi was pronounced dead at 8:07 p.m.

Public informality shows Hemmasi owned or co-owned over 40 different properties throughout the area.

Friends and co-workers who didn't want to go on camera described Hemmasi as a generous man who was always willing to help his fellow man, including with purchasing "big ticket" items like property or vehicles.

"He was a good person, he would always help out. I don't know why they did what they did," said Yvette Ramirez, neighbor to Hemmasi business.

The female victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive her injuries.

Police believe the attacker specifically targeted Hemmasi, and they do not believe there is a threat to the general public at this time.

Detectives are asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588.
