David Laws, the former MP and Schools minister, has joined Ark as an adviser to our international programmes.

He will be advising Ark on the development of global education systems, including quality assurance and value add programmes.

Before joining Ark, David Laws was the MP for Yeovil between 2001 and 2015, and was Minister of State for Schools in the Department for Education (DfE) and Minister of State in the Cabinet Office.

Lucy Heller, Chief Executive of Ark, said: “I’m delighted to welcome David to the team. He brings a wealth of experience and nous to Ark and will be advising our international work at a pivotal time.”

David Laws said: “It’s fantastic to join Ark. Their experience of raising standards in the UK through their academies and education programmes is a matter of public record. What is perhaps a better kept secret is their decade of experience in supporting governments in developing countries to improve schools in some of the most remote communities. It’s an exciting time to be involved in global education systems and I look forward to playing my part in the further development of Ark’s international programmes.”
