Alabama offer would 'change everything' for Auburn DB target Juanyeh Thomas

This weekend will have a big impact in the recruitment of Niceville, Fla., standout Juanyeh Thomas.

Thomas, a three-star recruit who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 204 pounds, is competing at Alabama's camp. He will head there after Niceville finishes play in the USA Football 7on7 National Championship.

Alabama has not offered, but his physicality fits in well on Alabama's defense. He is being recruited as a safety there.

"(Defensive coordinator) Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt has been in touch with my coach and he wants me to come to camp," Thomas said. "He said he really loves my size and everything and wants to see my camp."

Thomas said he thinks he'll push back his Aug. 5 commitment date between Auburn, Georgia Tech and Florida.

"That would change everything," Thomas said. "Everybody doesn't just get an offer from 'Bama. That's a championship program. If I do get an offer from them, that's a big game-changer right there."

All six predictions in the 247Sports crystal ball have Thomas picking Auburn, but right now he says Georgia Tech stands out among the three due to more communication from the Tech coaches.

"The coach there is telling me how much he wants me, he's been talking to me every day," Thomas said.

"(Auburn) just got a four-star safety (Quindarius Monday). It probably switched things up a little bit. Everything's the way it was before. I've just got to go to the 'Bama camp."

Thomas said he isn't worried about Monday's commitment, and believes Auburn likes him at cornerback and safety.

"Communication level (stands out)," Thomas said. "They make me feel like I'm at home and I just feel more comfortable at Auburn."

Thomas doesn't have another visit to Auburn planned before his possible Aug. 5 commitment date, which will likely happen if Alabama does not offer. He recently visited Florida and will visit Georgia Tech soon. He has been to Auburn four times, he said.

"(I'm looking for) just a school that really wants me the most and thinks I can come and impact their program in a big way," Thomas said. "I'm going to come to a school and work hard because I'm trying to get a starting spot as a freshman."
