In a terrifying post-apocalyptic world inhabited by sadistic gangs divided into deadly factions, Nina (Kate Bosworth) and Mark (Tyler Hoechlin) race desperately across the devastated and lawless countryside in search of safety and must work together as they are pushed to the breaking point in order to survive. After years of political strife, racial tension, rising disease, poverty, debt, violence, over population and depleting resources, the government makes a decision to hit the reset button, wiping out all life for a fresh start at a new kind of America. With the grid shut off, survivors cling together in rural pockets forming a primitive counter-culture of like-minded gangs sprinkled across the country, ravaging a new landscape – each gang representing various American dreams gone awry: a sort of demented version of America at its best and worst, with its members stopping at nothing to defend their territory. How far will Nina and Mark go to survive in this dangerous new world?
