FURIOUS passengers have blasted ScotRail for covering up plug sockets on trains.

Baffled commuters took to social media to hit out after metal plates were screwed over charging points next to seats.

Nick Thornburn wrote: “Why on earth have you covered the plugs on the trains? People need these for phones and their laptops.”

Emma Beedie added: “What is it with trains with nae plugs?!”

Rail bosses axed sockets on 28 older trains last month after a “software issue” crippled the on-board power supply.

ScotRail chiefs are working to fix the problem, but it could take months as every socket will need to be replaced.

A ScotRail Alliance spokesman said they will “resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
