A police officer accidentally shot his partner, and it's all caught on camera.

The shooting happened Tuesday as officers responded to a home to arrest an individual on a warrant. The person had a history of drugs and weapons. According to CBS affiliate WLFI, as officers opened the door, a person in the home warned the officers about a dog. As the door to a cage begins to give way, Lafayette Police Officer Aaron Wright reaches to try to stop the dog. Chief Patrick Flannelly said Wright's weapon "twisted in his hand" and discharged when it hit the cage door, striking Officer Lane Butler in the shoulder above her protective vest.

Butler is recovering and thankful to the community for the support. A review board called the shooting an accident, WLFI reported.
