Rolling Recreation

This summer the Rollin' Recreation activity van offers summer fun for the whole family at a number of parks throughout the city. The vans will wheel out equipment to provide activities such as gymnastics, fitness, and sports until August 12. There is no advance registration required and all activities are free and open to all ages.

Highlights

Lakefront Trail Separation Project
The section of the lakefront trail separation project from 31st Street to 41st Street is complete! Get the latest updates on construction along the 18-mile lakefront trail, which runs from Ardmore Avenue on the north to 71st Street on the south, view images of the improvement plans and access details about detours on the new Trail Separation Project page. Construction continues from Fullerton to Ohio streets and 31st to 51st Streets. 
Statue Stories
From William Shakespeare's sculpture in Lincoln Park to the Wizard of Oz's Tin Man in Oz Park, the statues in the parks are talking and you have a small window of opportunity to hear what they have to say. In August, Statue Stories will end its creative initiative to give voice to iconic statues across the city. Take advantage of the gorgeous weather and head out on a scavenger hunt for Chicago's talking statues. Browse the complete list of talking statues here
Santa’s Village Discount Offer and Give Back to CPD

NEA Grant Award
Congrats to the Chicago Park District's Cultural, Arts and Nature Department! They have received a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant of $150,000 to fund The Re:Center Project: Cultivating Cultural Stewardship in Chicago's parks, a creative initiative encouraging community members, artists, and park staff to work together and grow cultural programming in our parks. Fundraising Wokshop
Learn to apply for grants from the experts. Park Advisory Council members are invited to the Chicago Park District and Chicago Park Foundation's Fundraising workshop at Kosciuszko Park, 2732 N. Avers Ave. on Saturday, July 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. For details and to register click here
CYBST 2017
Calling park baseball and softball coaches! Register your team to play in the citywide Chicago Youth Baseball and Softball Tournament (CYBST) by July 13. Coaches are encouraged to enroll their baseball and softball teams to compete at the UIC Curtis Granderson Stadium from July 27 to July 30Register here.

Goat Visits at the Garfield Park Conservatory
Stop by and see the Goats at Garfield Park Conservatory, happening the last full week of July and August! Watch these cute farm animals graze an enclosed area on the south side of our campus starting July 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Find out more here.

Inferno Movements
Everyone is invited to come, play, sample, create, loop, and layer music, lyrics and spoken word with the Chicago Park District's Inferno's 'Movements' at Welles Park on Thursday, July 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on the 606, Thursday, August 3 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to all ages. 
Beach Vibes at Burroughs Park
Pack up the family and head to Beach Vibes at Margaret Burroughs Beach Park for a beach day full of music curated by DJ Jacquelyn Carmen Guerrero and creative play, art making, sand castle building, storytelling, print making, and nature play with William Estrada and the Street Art Cart. Join us for this free event on Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
