Workers burned in early morning accident at Amalgamated Sugar

At 4:48 Friday morning, Twin Falls Fire Department was dispatched to the Amalgamated Sugar Factory in Twin Falls on reports of an injury accident.

The corporate office for the sugar company released a statement to KMVT saying two employees were burned when a container of hot liquid overflowed.

According to the statement both were flown to Salt Lake City to receive treatment, but the extent of their injuries is still unknown.

The company said their top priority is the safety of their employees and taking care of their families in this time of need.

They said they have called OSHA and will be filing a full investigation into the incident.

"At Amalgamated Sugar, employee safety and welfare are our number one priority. Unfortunately, early this morning two employees were injured in an accident at our Twin Falls factory, when a tank containing hot liquid overflowed. Our immediate priority is helping our injured employees and their families, and ensuring that any related safety concerns are addressed.

"The injured employees have been flown to Salt Lake City for treatment, and we do not yet know the extent of their injuries. We are notifying OSHA, and have started a thorough investigation of the incident."
