3 stabbed, hospitalized after large fight in Syracuse, police say

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A large fight in Syracuse left three people needing medical attention after they were stabbed, according to the police department.

They are recovering in a local hospital and are expected to survive, police said.

Syracuse police were called to Cannon Street and West Ostrander Avenue at 4:34 p.m. Thursday after several calls came in to the 911 center about a large crowd of people in the area.

When officers arrived, they were told there had been a big fight and that some people had been stabbed, police said. The injured had been taken to Upstate University Hospital in private vehicles, police said.

Officials said two women and one man were injured. The women were stabbed in the arms, and the man was stabbed in the upper chest, according to the department.

Police believe they will survive.

Officers said they are investigating the fight and that more information will be released when it becomes available.
