Oh, JAY-Z. Since the release of his now-platinum 13th studio album 4:44, the Marcy Projects rap legend has been under fire for what spectators have concluded to be controversial lyrics.

The title track had the BeyHive up in arms on social media after Jay seemingly admitted to cheating on their beloved Beyoncé with multiple women, while Judaism practitioners bashed him for an alleged anti-Semitic lyric about Jewish people's financial strategies—even Kim Kardashian had something to say after he called out her husband, Kanye West, on "Kill Jay Z." Out of all Jay's album quotables, however, there are some specific lines he delivered about hip-hop artists flaunting cash that has some people in the game coming for his jugular.

On "The Story of O.J." JAY-Z provides a slew of gems, but the lines that have fans and fellow rappers divided is, "Y'all on the ’Gram holdin' money to your ear/There's a disconnect, we don't call that money over here, yeah." With the money phone becoming a status symbol in hip-hop over the years, rappers who've taken it upon themselves to pose with cash to their ear took the line to heart. Even Duct Tape Entertainment CEO Big Blank Black had a few words for Jay regarding the bar via Instagram. “Fuck that shit JAY-Z talking ’bout," he says. "Where I’m from we show that shit.”

Since then, more than a few rap artists have shared their opinions on social media, giving their take on the lyrics—some for their own personal gain, others because they frankly could care less what the vet has to say. Either way, JAY-Z is keeping his head up, having just released the tour dates for 4:44 and three new bonus tracks, including one featuring a freestyle from his firstborn, Blue Ivy.

Take a look at what some of your favorite rappers have to say about JAY-Z's disdain for the money phone below.

  • 50 Cent

Never one to mince words, 50 Cent not only gave a review of the album, but let the world know he and Floyd Mayweather are the originators of the money phone movement.

  • Future

Though Jay's bar "I don't even know what you woulda done/In the Future, other niggas playin' football with your son" was a direct nod to Future's current situation with his ex-girlfriend Ciara, the money phone line seemingly pushed the Atlanta native over the edge.

  • Tee Grizzley

Detroit newcomer Tee Grizzley posted a photo holding a stack of cash to his ear and went live on Instagram in response to Jay's shot. "How y'all gon' listen to a nigga that y'all don't even know?" he asked fans, whom Tee says don't even listen to their own family members.

  • Blac Youngsta

Since his rap come up began, Blac Youngsta has flaunted over $1 million in cash on social media, so it wasn't surprising when he responded to the money phone line by talking into a package of cash.

  • Takeoff

Migos' Takeoff came up with a new concept after hearing "The Story of O.J." "What you call that, Jay?" he asks the legend while holding a box of Backwoods Cigars to his ear.

  • Nicki Minaj

The self-proclaimed "Queen of Hip-Hop" used the money lyric reference to take personal shots, allegedly toward her two famous exes. "Stop posting them tired stacks on the gram," Nicki Minaj laughed off after claiming she had given this advice to people before 4:44 was ever released.

  • Boosie BadAzz

Boosie BadAzz was one of the first rappers to respond to the now-infamous lyric. The rant went viral after the Louisiana rap artist went off on Jay via Instagram live, telling his fans, “I got love for JAY-Z, but y’all telling me I shouldn’t put stacks in my ear if JAY-Z says it? These Louisiana niggas don’t rock like that," among other things.

  • SahBabii

  • 21 Savage

While promoting his new LP, Issa Album, on radio station 92.3, 21 Savage was asked his opinion on JAY-Z's 4:44 and subliminals on certain tracks at the 5:22-mark of the clip. "Bruh, everybody ain't no billionaire," he answered before clarifying his response.

  • MC Shan

The Queensbridge rhymer is in no rush to hear 4:44. During his interview with Murder Master Music Show, MC Shan states, "If you wanted to tell people to do something, tell them to pull their fucking pants up! Don’t tell them to stop putting money to their ear! That’s what their fans expect from them... People like them because they’re bold with they shit like that."
