HYDERABAD/NEW DELHI: Is MV Sridhar, GM, cricket operations of the BCCI, guilty of deliberately hiding facts relating to his association with the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA)? The former secretary of the HCA seems to be heading for big trouble because of his 'active role' in the affairs of the state association. Sources in the BCCI said that Sridhar has a conflict of interest issue and it could have serious repercussions on his position in the board.

Earlier this year, the BCCI had asked all its employees to submit a disclosure form to eliminate conflict-of-interest issues. It is learnt that Sridhar had failed to make a complete disclosure and had left out two important facts -that he was an accused in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) cases involving the HCA and that he controlled multiple clubs in the state association. Sridhar was the joint secretary of the HCA from 2000-06, vice-president from 2010-12 and secretary from 2012-14.
BCCI CEO Rahul Johri had issued Sridhar a notice asking for explanation regarding the omissions.
"It is an old case and there is not much substance in the allegations. I am not directly involved in the ACB case and have sought a discharge from it," Sridhar had told TOI a couple of days ago, adding that he had replied to the notice. "I have explained my stance to the board and the matter is settled." However, sources insisted that there were two ACB cases pending against Sridhar and he has been named as an accused along with a few other HCA officials. Besides, according to sources, Sridhar has not yet given his reply to the notice even though there seems to be a deadline to do so.
To make matters worse for Sridhar, former office-bearers of the HCA, led by president Arshad Ayub, have dashed off a letter to the Committee of Administrators and BCCI officials about Sridhar's 'involvement in HCA affairs.' They allege that Sridhar is controlling the apex council of the HCA from behind the scenes.
Interestingly, some of those who have signed the letter too are accused in the same cases. Sridhar also has a stake in six clubs he is the president of them even though it is learnt that he now claims that he has nothing to do with any club in the HCA.

However, the bank statements (copies of which are in the possession of TOI) reveal that Sridhar has been operating the accounts of the following clubs: Vijaynagar Cricket Club, Safilguda Cricket Club, Deccan Colts Cricket Club, Consult Colts Cricket Club, Nataraj Cricket Club and Satyam Colts Cricket Club.
The latest statement (June 30, 2017) of the bank accounts of the clubs show Sridhar as the president of all the six clubs. Ironically, all the accounts are in the same branch of Syndicate Bank, Banjara Hills.
