Quantico is welcoming back a familiar face when it returns for its rebooted third season.
Russell Tovey, who both joined and exited the ABC series in its second season, is returning to the Priyanka Chopra-starring terror drama as a series regular.
Tovey’s Harry Doyle left the series somewhat abruptly, with exiting showrunner Joshua Safran confirming in interviews after his final episode that the show’s up-in-the-air moment would serve as Doyle’s last. He was last seen with another character holding a gun to his head, with the moment never resolved onscreen.
Doyle is described as “part Thomas Crown, part grown-up Artful Dodger — and is just as likely to seduce your husband as he is to pick his pocket when it’s over.”
Quantico is returning for an abbreviated third cycle mid-season, with Code Black creator Michael Seitzman taking over as showrunner from Safran, who remains an executive producer and consultant.
After a surprising third-season renewal, Quantico is returning without original stars Yasmine Al Massri and Pearl Thusi and has added Marlee Matlin to its ranks. She will play Jocelyn Turner, a former FBI agent who was known at one time to be the best undercover agent but was rendered deaf in the field. The FBI is bringing her back to join a special unit, presumably to be made up of Quantico‘s returning players.
Original stars Chopra, Jake McLaughlin, Johanna Braddy and season-two addition Blair Underwood are confirmed to return. Aunjanue Ellis is not expected to return in a full-time capacity.
Tovey’s credits include HBO’s Looking and BBC’s Being Human. He is repped by WME and Independent Talent.
