Make room Mr Anthony Rawlings, Mr Sterling Sparrow needs to stand alongside you as my joint fave anti-hero! This, this, this is on fire and I literally and I mean literally cannot wait for the second book in the web of sin trilogy! I adore everything that Aleatha has written but this, this is back to her dark sided best which I love!

The most anticipated book/series of the year and it does not disappoint.
If you loved Tony Rawlings and or Nox Demetri you will love Sterling Sparrow. He is an alpha-male who keeps secrets safe or does he?
This series is different than the previous ones, for one, this series has three books, and each will be released within five weeks from each other. Release dates are October 30th, December 4th, and January 8th. It's also a quicker read, it flows really smoothly, which should probably tell us something, like don't get too comfortable, since this is, after all, Ms. Romig who is doing the writing. Make no mistake, this is a full length book, not a novella.

Oh how I love Aleatha's dark side!! Secrets was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018. I could not wait to get my hands this book! Let me tell you, it does not disappoint!
Araneae and Sterling's story is complex, captivating, suspenseful and scorching hot! I was hooked from the very first page. The deeper you get into the book, some secrets are unwoven from the web of lies in Araneae's life but that only left me with even more questions. It's intense! I have been Aleatha'd before, so I trust no one! The ending of the book is a huge cliffhanger that left me questioning everything we learned throughout the book. Like...WHAT? HOW? WHO? WHY?
Trust me, you will not be able to put it down once you start!
I can not wait for Lies!!!!

There is just something about an alphahole that really gets my juices flowing. They're so sexy and dominant, apparently all-knowing and all-powerful, and they know how to make demands and have people jump-to like no one's business.
Sterling Sparrow was an enigma. After reading an entire book about him, I still know very little about the man. Aside from his seeming obsession with Araneae and keeping her safe and piecing out the secrets bit by bit, I know virtually nothing. He's rich, he's taken over the family business after his father's death, his business is both legitimate and illegitimate, he owns a jet, and his sex appeal leaks from the pages. Oh and he was an alphahole to beat many alphaholes. Humina humina!
Then there's Araneae herself. She was smart and independent. She had suffered some huge losses and learned how to roll with the punches and taught herself to be self-sufficient. She also had the amazing ability of not being rational while believing herself to be rational. Huge events were happening around her, at first without her knowledge, but when she was made aware of the dangers she faced, she still thought she could handle things on her own. But she couldn't see things for what they were. So why continue to assert that you were quite capable of things that were beyond your abilities? Drove me nuts!!
Thank you so much Sterling for pointing out the obvious. I only wish it were obvious to her. Araneae can't see the forest for the trees. So smart and yet so... It's okay. I can't expect her to be perfect in all things.
After being left to cling onto a virtual cliff, I'm looking forward to learning more about the secrets of Sterling and Araneae's past and how they affect both their present and their future. I'm especially eager to see more of the man who is quickly becoming one of my favorite alphaholes.

4.5 In Time Stars
Aleatha is BACK!!
When I saw Aleatha was going back to the dark side, I HAD to read this and I'm so glad I did!!
We are introduced to a young teenage Aranea just as her world is about to change in a huge way. If I as going to get picky I would have to talk about Aranea's reactions to this and other things that happen throughout the book. You'd think if those things were happening to you, you would be causing a lot more of a fuss than Aranea did, I know I would. But Aranea just goes along with it. This annoyed me a tad but didn't take anything away from the book for me as I got dragged into the twisted suspense of the story.
As an adult running her own high end clothing line with her best friend, Aranea is loving life UNIL she ventures to a place she was warned never to return to again. While there she meets Sterling Sparrow, Aranea knows this man is dangerous but also knows he holds the answers she so desperately wants and needs. She'll go along with his demands to find her answers, but will she get swept away in the process?
Sterling is 100% alpha and just like most of Aleatha's heroes he can be a bit of a prick sometimes, I liked how Aranea stood up to him although she did cave quickly. Sparks flew between these two as the chemistry grew and when they come together (pun intended) it's hot!!
There are so many secrets and I found myself getting so frustrated on Aranea's behalf wanting the answers, of course this is only book 1 so we didn't get many. I can't go into the plot as that would be giving too much away. I will say that it is written in true Aleatha style, with great characters, secrets, lies and a big ole twist right at the end.
A great start to what I know is going to be another brilliantly twisted, suspense filled series. Loved it!! Bring on book 2.

Wow!!! Has to be one of my top 5 favourite books for this year.
What a start this new series from Aleatha. Move over Anthony Rawlings we have a new alpha male in town.
This book is so good it had me right from the start. I loved everything about it and I haven't done a thing all day aside from reading this book it is so good.
Not sure where to start but I will not be giving any spoilers but if you have read this author's previous books then you know you are in for a treat. This story will pull you in and leave you begging for more.
So many questions. Who do you trust? even I am not sure at this point.
So many twists and turns.
The characters are great the chemistry they have is sizzling and off the charts.
This book is so well written and I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

I am not new to Aleatha Romig. This is my third series and 9th book by her. I don't find it any different from the previous eight books. Sterling Sparrows for me falls somewhere between Anthony Rawlings (of Consequence), and Nox Demetri (of Infidelity). He abducted the girl like Rawling and later on seduced her like Nox. Said abduction and seduction is one of the story, other half is full on Romig trademark trail of secrets of the past, an obsessive hero, and a twit of an heroine. Sterling's constant chant of mine mine mine gave me a headache and if that was not enough, Aranaea behaved like an uncontrollable horny teenager whenever he was around. He was not that good to ignore the fact that he abducted her and then forced his will of her living with him, and marrying him. Meh.

I was completely consumed by this book, and I’m dying for more of this couple! I can’t wait for Lies, book 2 in the Web of Sin series!❤️

Secrets has it all, a captivating and dark story full of twists and complex characters to intrigued me all the time.I was hooked from the start and I just couldn't put it down till the end.
Sterling is dark, sexy and mysterious.Araneae is an interesting heroine.She is sassy and strong.I like their chemistry, there was tension and passion between them.

Let me get this straight.
I am 16 years old, my dad just died a week ago in an accident, while my mum drives me to the airport to send me away to boarding school. With a complete set of fake identity, telling me my dad was actually murdered, telling me my real parents/ mum gave me up to safe my life, and now both our life’s are in danger. To never ever come back to Chicago because her life depends on it and to stay clear from the Sparrow/Sterling family.
How would a normal happy family, achieve such a goal of a complete set of new identity? Not a question anyone apparently is interested in asking. I just kept wondering.
If her real parents are still alive? Who knows? Apparently, she knew from the start she was adopted, but we never get to know, or told if she ever showed interest in knowing who or where her parents are or if they are still alive!
In apparently 10 years, she has never shown any interest in searching for the truth, or information about the names she was given, or even if her beloved stepmom is still alive. She had no interest at all.
During those 10 years, she founds a successful clothing company with her best friend, yet she has no qualms to set up one of the manufacturing and distributing locations of the company in Chicago, in all of the United States, she chose Chicago?
Yet, her best friend is pregnant and should not travel and she has no qualms to travel to Chicago in her stead, to Chicago? With little to no protest?
To a city that cost her the only dad she knew, that made her mum literally abandon her, that she promised to never go back again, that houses the dangerous family she should stay away from, that is dangerous to her life?
It all just makes no sense!!! And literally makes the heroine look like a simpleton!!!
Well, I am only at 25% of the story and the heroine is already testing my nerve.
Her reactions to several occasions so far are utter unnatural. Her justifications for her behaviour are ludicrous and unbelievable, really.
So far she didn’t show any appropriate emotion to any situation at all.
She expresses so much curiosity suddenly, to learn about her past and the fate of her stepmom, but never once in 10 years searched for information about the snippets of knowledge she was given by her stepmother before she was sent away?
But suddenly someone threatens her, threatens her friends, threatens her company, blackmails her, knows her real name and she is curious? Really?
The problem is a good author can sell me anything. But it has to be substantiated.
Why didn’t she show an interest before and suddenly does now. This is not properly formulated as well as all the other situations, emotions and decisions pointed out. Some reasonings were simply outlandish and not founded on solid ground.
Why would someone simply comply to a life
changing blackmailing by a simple picture?
All the obvious incidences??? Did I tell him my name? Did I give him the key card? Did the old man look sick?
Is she demented?
She is able to afford a several thousand dollar chauffeur service but isn’t able to get a burner phone? She is the founder and owner of a successful company but isn’t able to use a public phone? Instead she doesn’t call anyone because she knows her cell is bugged! Wow!
Someone shows her a picture of her friends at a restaurant, and she acts like they showed her a video of them being held hostage and tortured! Please, don’t contact the police or they will die? Nothing besides the picture actually happened!!
And don’t get me started on that weird incident on the Wichita airport!!
This whole plot is idiotic, the female character is idiotic.
I am not sure I will last much longer...

The aforementioned points of criticism didn’t improve, instead I found more.
The female main character and her plainly adulation for all things luxury and expensive is repellent.
What is it with her and being a true blonde??
After a while I started skipping pages and only read the dialogues. And what I realised doing this is, the dialogues didn’t add up. They simply didn’t make any sense. It is really badly written. The two parties often talked past each other or at cross purposes. Without their thoughts in between the spoken words, the spoken words wouldn’t make any sense at all. And this is the crux of the whole book.
The dialogues aren’t authentic.
The characters aren’t authentic, foremost the main female character. Her authenticity suffers under the poorly executed personality only focused on where the plot should go and not what a real person would do, feel and think.
The single plot threads are also so out of place, badly strung together, it borders on fantastical.

I've read my share of dark CR books with a heroine who gets swept away by some mysterious OTT asshole alpha. Some were fantastic, some were slow burn as we peel back the layers of a broody mysterious hot billionaire, and some are a high octane roller coaster ride of hot sex and danger. This?? was none of these.
This fell flat for me because the hero had no real appeal. Nothing original came from his mouth and the sex scenes were lukewarm. Dialogue was rather common and I couldn't help but feel like I had read every word that came out of his mouth in many other similar stories.
The heroine was all over the place. One minute she's angry at said asshole, the next she's hot all over. One moment she is defiant, and the next indulging. It was a yoyo of indecision and inconsistent behaviour. Between the two MC's I felt like they could both benefit from a healthy dose of mood stabilizers.
I didn't feel any chemistry between these two at all. Their time together seemed disjointed and lacking the necessary components to warrant me excusing her willingness to be claimed by this Alphahole.
As for plot, between the hero's reluctance to reveal and the heroine's inability to demand, we are left with little to chew on but a rather flaccid cliffhanger.

Aleatha Romig has gone back to her roots in this new series installment Web Of Lies . The sexiness was brought in, secrets were held in the background, and the drama? Well that was there full force and it had no plans of going away.
Kennedy Hawkins has always lived a good safe life until one day she was told about part of her real identity. It’s been years since that life changing moment but Kennedy has moved on and now has a successful career to top it all off. There’s this saying that ignorance is bliss and those words have never been more true for the situation that’s entered her life. Learning that there’s a problem with her business that needs to be handled immediately, she decides to travel to the one place that was off limits to her. Big. Mistake.
Sterling Sparrow is arrogant, rude, powerful, and whatever he wants done, it gets done. In his world, only the strong will survive and everyone else will be nothing but casualties. I know that this book is only the beginning of a series so were just starting to find out little things and not have the entire facts, but I really enjoy the flow of it so far. It had this sexy aura to it that just made you want to flip the pages at warped speed just so you can get your next hit and I loved that. Now the cliffhanger, I did not love but who really likes those? They are meant to drive you bat sh*t crazy until you can get your hands on the book and this author certainly made me feel like that.
If you’re looking to start a new sexy mysterious series, then you should give this one a try.

Aleatha has a way with words. She's always able to grab my attention from the very first chapter.
Secrets is the first book in the Web of Sin series. The dark setting intrigued me and the suspense made me turn the pages constantly.
The book begins with Renee being sent away by her adoptive mother. Their lives are in danger and she must run. Her mother hands her new a new identity and tells her she must move to Colorado. She will cease to be Renee and she will become Kennedy Hawkins. However, before she leaves, her mother reveals her true identity. Her real name is Araneae McCrie.
"The devil has been searching for you. And my greatest fear has always been that he find you."
Ten years later, due to her successful company Sinful Threads, she must return to the place she promised her adoptive mother she would never go back to, the city of Chicago. She will come to regret her decision. Or maybe not, after all, she will land in the arms of Sterling Sparrow.
"Sparrow, Allister Sparrow. He's currently in charge, but one day it will be his son, Sterling."
Sterling is a very powerful and rich man. Someone who has waited to take Araneae as his wife. He's determined to do so without a second thought. Araneae knows he has the information about her past she is desperate to learn. He holds all the cards. She must do as he says or the people closest to her will get hurt.
"Sparrow, Allister Sparrow. He's currently in charge, but one day it will be his son, Sterling."
I can't believe the book ends in a cliffhanger. There were so many lies and secrets! Everyone was hiding something. Araneae didn't know who to trust. I feel like there is much more for us to learn about Araneae's childhood and her real parents. I know Sterling has to be the good guy (although he's the anti-hero) and since her life is in danger, he has the means to protect her too.
I liked Araneae. She had a backbone. Even when she had no choice, she still made her dislike of the situation known. She didn't roll over and that was a plus.
Sterling is a smart man. He served his country, cultivated true friendships along the way and now he's the CEO of Sparrow Enterprises. We know he hated his father Allister Sparrow and that he was promised Araneae when he was too young to know better. He does have an obsession with her and I'm sure he has been following her progress through the years. It will be interesting to know how much he was involved in her life without her knowing.
I'm excited about the next book and I'm so glad Aleatha is not making me wait long.

I can’t keep this anything BUT vague.
Characters & Chemistry
Kennedy Hawkins was told to never return to Chicago after a narrow escape and till this day she has kept her word, but a pregnant friend and work has changed that. Being a CEO of Sinful Threads, she investigates a matter that involves some dodgy dealings. It is all a ruse.
I really liked Kennedy. She is strong, sassy, and has a backbone of steel however she always puts others over her well-being. There were times where I was screaming at her internally of course I don’t want people to think that I am nuts. She was always given a choice but not making the right decision would leave all of those she cared for open. Not knowing a lot about her past, it is darker than she will ever think. There were times I though come on girl just leave but was it possible? No. Could she out maneuver Sterling? Hell no. Did she want to? Her body said no but her head was all for it.
Sterling Sparrow runs an empire he is the king of Chicago on top and in the underbelly. He has seen everything and done nearly everything as well. As long as he can relatively rest when he goes to sleep at night it has been a successful day. He is successful, domineering and has standards that are to be lived up to.
There were times I loved Sterling and others where I hated them. He trusted only two people in his life. He wanted what had always belong to him and that promise he made a long time ago. It was a conscious choice that he made. He had his standards, his dominating ways. If I was in Kennedy’s shoes I would have succumbed to his wicked ways as well.
About the chemistry this is where it gets tricky for me. Let me first say that the author hit the nail on the head with this one. There wasn’t too much sex the amount that she wrote about was perfect which I personally loved. It gives the book class. If that makes sense? She is with him to learn her past but truly she is with him because of the chemistry that they have although it was hard to go to the instant sexual chemistry that was there, but I adapted.
Writing, Plot & Pace
If there is one thing that this author can do, then it is write and I mean write. It was hook, line and sinker for me from start to finish. It is captivating, I soaked up every moment of this book. The emotions, the feels all of it wrapped up into one perfect book. Fingers crossed that the rest of the trilogy will go in the same direction.
As to the plot I don’t want to give anything away and well if I were to in-depth then I would spoil besides it is hard to put into words and I don’t quite want to at the moment.
Coming to the pace of the book it was actioned packed, fast paced not a dull moment and time just flew by reading this book.

I have now written more than I wanted to. Let me just I am seriously impressed by this book more than I expected to be. Obviously, it ends on a cliffhanger so wait until all three are out you have been warned.

Sterling Sparrow WOW!!!
This book is just brilliant from start to finish. I couldn't put it down the story and characters are just to additive. I 've been looking forward to this book since I heard about it. I m a big fan of this author her Infidelity series is just amazing and Nox is my favourite character of hers. But I think Sterling Sparrow as just taken first place wow is just a everything you want in a hero. He's a total alpha and can be a total butt. There so many side of him that you are in this book and it's only the first book. He can be so domineering and in your face then he's caring and gentle. He had my head so over the place but god I luvd him straight away. It's hard not fall for him he's so sexy and just drop dead gorgeous. There isn't many heroes that have done that to me. I m DYING for more of him.
Kennedy/Araneae what can I say she is just had great as Sterling. She has had to deal with a lot from a young age but has dealt with everything so well and now has got a great business under her beat. But things can't alway stay perfect and deep down she knows that her past is goin to come back and haunt her. She just didn't know it was goin to be a sexy tall strong alpha guy like Sterling.
The chemistry between them from the start was so hot. Araneae has not had anyone telling her to do in a long time she is so independent. So have this guy demand her to do things didn't really go down to well. Plus Sterling isn't used to people well woman do has he says. So let's just say these two butt heads pretty much from the start. I understand where both characters are coming from so I find it really hard to take sides. But I do think that they need to each other it might not come across that way but I think they do. I just think that Araneae doesn't need to listen to Sterling a lil bit more but after the way this book ended I m not sure of anything.
I highly recommend this book I honestly can't say enough good things about it. The story is addictive I hated putting it down. I was dying to know how things were goin to go. I got frustrated with both characters at times but I still luvd them. I really luv it when I get a book like this that has my gripped from start to finish. The ending is still killing me. I just think that Araneae doesn't need to listen to Sterling a lil bit more but after the way this book ended I m not sure of anything.
I highly recommend this book I honestly can't say enough good things about it. The story is addictive I hated putting it down. I was dying to know how things were goin to go. I got frustrated with both characters at times but I still luvd them. I really luv it when I get a book like this that has my gripped from start to finish. The ending is still killing me. I can't believe that it ended where it did. So I m begging that we don't have to wait to long. I need more of this series and more of Sterling Sparrow.

Secret is Aleatha going back to her dark business. No she is not a mobster, well I don't think she is, but she is the queen of edgy stories filled with mysterious, commanding and powerful sexy male characters.
She weaves a tale of secrets, treason and danger. Araneae's past is hidden in the shadows and even she does not know her real identity. She knows she has to stay far from Chicago as the bad man is waiting to catch her and hurt her.
When she has to go back and meet her nemesis she won' know who to believe. Who is on her side and who isn't?
Even if she'd really try Sterling is determined not to let her escape. She is HIS.
I read secret with glee as I love it when Aleatha goes back to the dark side of the force. Secret is captivating built upon strong characters, plane crash, fires, car crash and an enigma to be solved.
Who are Araneae's parents?
Why is she seen as Sterling's possession?
Is Sterling friend or foe hiding his game?
Why....

2018 is becoming my year of introducing myself to different, fabulous authors. I haven’t read anything by Aleatha Romig, though I’ve heard about her romances—the twisted darkness she weaves throughout and the commanding men she writes about, she’s an author you’ll want to read!
Secrets is filled with everything a reader could want—lies, secrets, deception, all unexpected yet enthralling, complex characters and captivating dark, delicious romance. Sterling and Araneae are multi-faced, intriguing characters that will demand your attention within an intricate storyline.
I knew since that fateful afternoon that Araneae and I were meant to be, with too many factions at work, the timing was imperative and her ignorance of her fate necessary.
Araneae McCrie/Kennedy Hawkins is gorgeous, intelligent and selfless. She’s also shrouded in almost impenetrable secrecy. Ultimatums and warnings are thrown her way every moment, but she remains grounded and filled with independent sass.
Sterling Sparrow is arrogant and demanding, enigmatic and sinfully wicked. Countless secrets and uncertainties surround this mysterious businessman. And he’s the only person capable of giving Araneae the information she covets.
In all situations, Sterling Sparrow moved like a lion: majestic, strong, proud, and above all, powerful. He was the king of the beasts and everyone within his realm was either a peasant, present to do his bidding, or prey, waiting to be devoured.
Fiery tension and tangible chemistry is rife in Secrets. When Araneae and Sterling come together, they’re explosive and passionate. Always pushing and pulling. Defying each other. Bantering and engaging in battles of wits.
I cannot wait to have more of Araneae and Sterling in Lies, as well as receiving answers to innumerous questions, especially to that cliffhanger.

Secrets is a new spine-tingling series that left me craving for more. This book lives up to its title with unpredictable twist and turns as each scene unravel. But are they the truth?
Sterling Sparrow is an enigmatic, sexy, and an alpha-male, through and through. He got this unexplainable a$$holy charm that attracts every woman just by looking at him.
Araneae McCrie a beautiful, independent, and fierce kind of a woman that just won't follow any man's bidding.
Two strong-willed characters that complement each other. The banter, arguments and the sexual tension are just perfect to get you hooked to the story. Well-written, thought-provoking plot are enough reasons to start this series. You won't be disappointed as Ms. Romig delivers the kind of story she's masterfully known for. I thoroughly enjoyed it and a must read for sure!

Buckle in for a fast paced storyline that has so many surprises and twist and turns. Exciting, angsty, thrilling....I'm sure I could continue on but I wont torture you. Except, I did forget to say smoldering and sexy. If you are a fan of Aleatha then you should know to expect the unexpected. When you pick up this book just get comfortable because you will not put it down until the end. Secrets...this book brings all new meaning to the word. Buy it, read it, love it and give it a rave review.

Secrets is a suspense filled read that will leave you begging for more. That ending oh that ending. I'm so ready for more, so ready to see what happens next. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and these characters.
Sterling Sparrow, the hero is without question an ass but man there is something magnetic about him. I must admit in real life I'd slap him just on principle but between these pages I'd bang his brains out. I love me a mysterious, dark and brooding man, he's got it in spades. Araneae, the heroine is a sassy, spit ball whom I can see myself befriending.
I loved the dynamic between these two and can't wait to see how their relationship develops over the course of the series.
I definitely recommend this book.

Aranaea is a breath of fresh air with an attitude and backbone to boot. The chemistry between these two is off the charts! Aptly titled, there are layers of secrets, some we find out, some are saved for (hopefully) the next installments. The ground work has been laid, now we just need Lies and Promises to see how it all plays out.

Aleatha Romig once again weaves a story of a dark world, suspense, mystery, lies, deceit and Love.
This book kept me on edge and was so engaging. I want to know so much about Araneae. Sterling is as usual our Nation hero alpha male, so is just too damn irresistible. Their chemistry was really off the chart. I really liked Araneae and her courage and backbone to stand against anything. This kind of heroins really make the reading wonderful.
You must go in this book blindly. The cliffhanger is killing me right now and I want 4dec to come soon so that I can read second installment of this series.
