The companies behind Robinsons squash and Colman’s mustard are set to close their manufacturing facilities in Norwich, putting more than 350 jobs at risk.

Britvic said that it planned to close its 92-year-old Robinsons squash factory, putting 242 jobs under threat, while Unilever, which co-owns the site, said that the move could spell the end of its own operations at a location where it employs 113 workers.

The soft drinks maker said that the proposal to close what is claimed to be the world’s biggest squash factory was part of a plan “to improve the efficiency and productivity of our manufacturing operations”.
