POLICE Scotland have introduced their newest furry recruit ready to paw-role the streets.

Dumfries and Galloway division posted the adorable snaps of the pooch this afternoon.

The cute doggo is to be named by the kid's ward at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The pics were captioned: "MEET WHAT WILL BE OUR NEWEST RECRUIT

"This little one will be joining our ranks very soon!

"The puppy will be put through his paces to see if he has what it takes to become a police dog and join PC Rae, Buck and Mac later this year."

Plenty of locals - and some others - were quick to praise the pup and discuss how cute they find the future copper.

One wrote: "Aww he is far to sweet to tackle anyone!"

Another said: "He's gorgeous", accompanied by two love heart emojis.

One said: "Call it Sergeant Pepper".

A fourth commented: "Murdo mctavish. He’s gorgeous".

We recently told how officers welcomed six new adorable dogs to the force and social media couldn't handle all that cuteness, either.

The new dogs will be cared for by instructors until their training course begins in September.
