Mossel Bay: world’s longest over-ocean zipline tested

Posted on 22 January 2020

Mossel Bay Zipline in partnership with SA Forest Adventures is preparing to open the ‘world’s longest over-ocean zipline’ in the Southern Cape harbour town.

The zipline is ready and testing has begun ahead of the official opening, which is imminent.

Local photographer Francois Boshoff captured the test run and from his photos, it looks like it’s going to be a wild and possibly wet ride.

The zipline which is 1,100m long has been described as ‘1,1km of screaming fun’ and runs from the cliffs below Point High School to the deck of the current (Shark Lab) aquarium at the Point.

Once the technical testing has been completed, the Mossel Bay Municipality will inspect the site and if all is in order, the company will get the go-ahead to open.

Mossel Bay Zipline said it will announce the official launch date on its Facebook page 24 hours before it opens.

A ride will cost R450 per person.

(Children under 6 years old are not allowed to ride, nor are pregnant women or people heavier than the weight restriction of 120kg.)
