MCFF Looking for 2023 Summer Hometown Intern

For the fourth summer in a row, the McCook Community Foundation Fund will be part of the Nebraska Community Foundation's Summer Hometown Internship program.
A 2023 Hometown Intern is a current college student who has completed at least one year of schooling and lives at home for the summer.
The intern will discover and document the assets and abundance of their home place. They will help facilitate conversations with community members regarding these assets and opportunities, and they will co-create opportunities to mobilize these local assets to increase community quality of life.
Students will be compensated for their work through a combination of funding from local affiliated funds and an anonymous NCF donor, but housing will not be provided.
For more information about the program, please contact MCFF coordinator Ronda Graff at 308.340.3412 or email at mcffund@gmail.com
Deadline to complete the interest form is March 31.

YCR Planning Drive-In Theater Project

MCFF's youth group, Youth Change Reaction has been around for more than a decade, doing small projects over the years including dances, movies at the YMCA, and the bike rental program at Red Willow Lake.
But the group of 12 McCook High School students wanted to take on a bigger project, a project that would last long after they graduated, a project that would benefit the community, young and old
a project that would make them proud when they look at it years later and say, "we did that."
So YCR has chosen to build a Drive-In Movie Theater, at the Red Willow County grandstands. YCR is  working hand-in-hand with the Red Willow County Fair Board, who will take ownership of the project.
The drive-in movie equipment will be available for rent for a minimal cost, enabling groups and organizations to host their own events as fund-raisers or community events.
Now that the funds have been raised, YCR is in the process of getting the equipment and screen in place. Keep an eye out for more information about this youth-driven project.
