A rock-hard bodyguard gets a sassy, sweet treat.

Stuck in a boring insurance job, vivacious Mia Donovan has spent the last few years searching for her life's true path. She fills her time helping plan the wedding of her best friend to the CEO of the Sugar Rush Candy Company.

Mia has also been trying to attract the impossibly rigid Sugar Rush security chief Gavin Knight. But for well over a year, the unyielding Mr. Knight has ignored her, despite her short skirts, tight sweaters, and patently obvious flirting. And when he finally approaches her, it's only to assess the wedding plans for potential security risks.

A former soldier, Gavin has intercepted hostile anonymous letters threatening the high-profile wedding. Determined to keep everyone safe, he's forced to work with the maddeningly sexy Miss Donovan of the thousand-watt charm and irresistible body.

Irked by Gavin's many months of disregard, Mia takes her teasing flirtations to a whole new level. But her coquettish ways are no match for the edgy, lust-fueled dominant he conceals behind his impassive exterior. And when Gavin exerts his full control, Mia discovers he can protect everything except her heart.

”I’ve been falling in love with you for over a year. And the moment you finally kissed me is when I fell in love with my whole heart.”

 photo 4 tease me_zpsxalgbxmr.jpg

The Sugar Rush series is going down as one of my top favorites of all time. It just keeps getting better with each installment. Not one book has been anything less than AMAZING!!! Not only have I fallen for each and every Hero, but I also found every Heroine to be so endearing. This is a series filled with amazing characters, off the charts sizzling steam, and romances that we all wish for. SWEET TIME was as fabulous as all its predecessors and even though it’s a novella, Nina Lane was able to give us an absolutely entertaining and satisfying story that very much felt like a full-length novel. Ladies, it’s time to fall in love with the stoic but supreme alpha security specialist, Gavin Knight.

 photo 6 like a cherry_zpskivxopls.jpg

We have met Polly’s bestie, Mia Donovan and Luke’s friend and head of security, Gavin Knight in Sweet Dreams. From that moment, the chemistry between the bubbly and delightful Mia, and the strong, sexy and off the charts alpha Gavin, was undeniably strong. I knew their story was going to be just as steamy and fun as all of the other books in the series. Nina Lane did not let me down!!!

Mia and Gavin have been on each other’s radar for well over a year now but nothing has ever come of it. Mia has several failed flirtatious attempts with Gavin and she has come to accept that it might just never happen with him, but that doesn’t seem to have killed the incredible crush she has for him. What Mia doesn’t know is that Gavin has been aware of her from the moment he first set his eyes on her. She’s been the star of all of his dirty fantasies over the past year. What he wouldn’t give to just haul her over his shoulder and throw her down on his bed, and do all the dirty things he’s dreamed of with her. But Gavin has put her in the ”hands-off” zone because she is Polly’s best-friend and since Polly is soon becoming a Stone, she will be like family to him.

Gavin is also haunted by his past. He served seven tours in Afghanistan while he was in the Marine Corp., and he suffers from a severe case of PTSD. It’s made it impossible for him to sustain long-term relationships. He even closes himself off from social interactions with his childhood friends, which includes the Stone family.

 photo 2 like a drug_zpsd3yv06v2.jpg

When Luke and Polly’s upcoming wedding forces Gavin and Mia to work together, since he’s in charge of security during the event and Mia is acting as the wedding planner as a favor to her friend—let’s just say a year’s worth of pent-up attraction and lust will come crashing through. Will Mia’s light and whimsical nature be the healing touch that Gavin so desperately needs? Or will their differences end up being what keeps them apart?

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 5
Plot: 5
Angst: 3.5
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

This book had it all—great characters, entertaining plot, suspense, and deliciously naughty steam!! I HIGHLY recommend this one!!

4 The Value of Hope and Surprises Stars
* * * *Spoiler Free It's Live!!!
Ah, the feeling of Hope.... We hope things go well...We hope our life will be good...We hope about big ideas and the most intimate...and we do it naturally. It can make us a positive person with the idea there is the possibility of whatever we are focused on...But when there seems to be an immovable obstacle blocking all this hope...It can cause either extreme pain or...a challenge to climb that obstacle...

Sweet Time (Sugar Rush #4) by Nina Lane addresses the idea of hope, love and where does one fit in...
This is part of a series, however, I never felt lost or confused.

So back to that obstacle to climb...It is the wickedly handsome alpha chief of security Gavin Knight. If you look in the dictionary under Focused...You would see a picture of him. He started Knight Security after 6 tours of duty. He came home after being injured. He also had his own burden of PTSD. Gavin had worked through his injuries and complete control of all things seemed to be the way to handle his demons. He took his position as head of security for his best friend's company Sugar Rush Candy seriously. Nothing would ever harm those under his care.

Mia Donovan is having a moment... she is going through the motions of major enjoyment...relishing ever single burst of flavor from her very own special coffee drink of caramel-chocolate mochaccino with extra chocolate, a shot of toffee syrup, vanilla whipped cream, and rainbow sprinkles.

Mia knew how to appreciate the "sweet things" in life. She was able to be there for her friends... many who have reached the point in their lives where they had found their purpose, careers and best of all... their person. Mia is sincerely happy for all of them...yet at the same time... she is seeing that her life seems stuck...

Stuck doing the world's most boring job... in a cubicle at an Insurance company...
Stuck suffering endless stapling and collating because her college major isn't employable friendly.

She is also stuck pining for a man who she has been taunting the best she can... without cracking a smile from his face...Gavin Knight is everything that cause Mia a thrill just by looking at him. She has tried over the last year to get a reaction from him... and nothing...

Tight sweaters...Nothing...
Short almost obscene skirts...Nothing
Not even flowered leggings that show off her legs and tush...Nothing

Well, Mia feels she is done... She will just occupy her time with her friend's high profile wedding. Mia has collected binders worth of details for this event... everything will be perfect... and Mia has no time to think about Gavin and his chiseled jaw and rock hard chest... Nope, no more.

Well, life decides to shake things up for Gavin and Mia. Gavin is in charge of the security for this wedding and he will have to work side by side with Mia. Mia, who wanted to move on from her attraction for Gavin will now have to deal with him up close and personal...

Little did she know, all her teasing, tempting and sexual taunting has been driving him crazy... crazy with nasty, dirty, controlling thoughts all about this pretty fairy princess...Gavin has been wanting Mia from the start...

Their first meeting causes Mia to fight back when Gavin starts to dictate what he needs for the event and how she should just jump to and do what he says...Mia hasn't forgotten how he has been ignoring her...But as they work together, things become intense... and finally, yes, finally Gavin cannot fight the overwhelming desire he has for her...

Yum Yum

This is a story that has lots of main plot, plus sub-plot. We get some tension and the need to protect. We also get the arc of both Mia and Gavin learning and realizing who they are and could be...How they are better together.

This was an enjoyable romp... with yummy sexy times, a touch of suspense and strong ending. It left me with a sweet taste.

4.5 'The sweetest surprise' Stars!
ARC provided by the author via InkSlingerPR in exchange for an honest review.

Nina Lane has been an auto-buy author for me for what it seems the longest time. I love her stories because all of them manage to be extremely sweet, romantic and emotional but also pretty fucking sexy! Of course, Sweet Time was no exception to that. I loved every minute of reading this sweet love story.

So, Sweet Time is the fourth installment in the Sugar Rush series and it tells the journey to love between a sweet but lost woman and a closed but extremely sexy man. Mia has been after Gavin for a long time and she is kind of ready to leave what she feels for him aside. However now she is forced to work with Gavin for Polly and Luke’s wedding and it seems like Gavin cannot stop himself form acting on his feelings for Mia anymore.

No, he couldn’t stay away from her any longer. He’d spent a year withstanding the hot pull of Mia Donovan. Now she was proving far too addicting for even his hardened self-discipline.

Actually, as you will see, Gavin is very much affected by Mia. While she has been thinking that he isn’t feeling the connection between them, Gavin has been fighting against the pull Mia has on him. It’s pretty obvious that when they start seeing each other and working together every day, the sparks start flying and boy.. are they HAWT!

“You want to know why I pretended to ignore you for so long?”
“Yes.”
“Because you make the bad stuff disappear.”

He wanted to drown in her sweetness, fill himself up with her until she’d obliterated all his darkness.

I really liked these characters! Gavin is that kind of hero that you can’t stop yourself from loving him: lonely, affected by his military past but also heartfelt and oh-so-sexy. And Mia shares some of those aspects with him too: she is lost, does not know what to do with her life but she is decided to find it. Imagine how beautiful it is to see them finding all that together and falling hopelessly in love with each other. Ahhh, so good!

“Your mission to make me like surprises seems to have worked.” He put his hand under her chin again and drew her closer. “But you’re my best surprise of all.”

Therefore, I am rating Sweet Time with 4.5 STARS because it was a wonderful love story to read. I loved that Gavin and Mia grow together as individuals and as a couple and also that they find their very much deserved happily ever after. I do find that the ending was a bit rushed but I still loved the whole experience anyway! Nina Lane never fails me. Definitely recommend this one!

3.5 Sweet Time Stars!

"He'd lost the battle all right. He was about to lose the whole war. And never before had he wanted to surrender."

description

Sweet Time is definitely one of those sweet treat reads. This whole Sugar Rush series is filled with lovable characters, the fantastic setting of Indigo Bay, sexy times and alpha heroes that take your breath away.

I really liked the heroine Mia Donovan. She was feisty, funny, and down to earth. When it comes time to help her best friend Polly plan her wedding, Mia is onboard with no questions asked. But she's having one of those moments. Those moments when you reflect upon your life and wonder what the hell is going on and what direction you will take. Gavin Knight is the owner of Knight securities and when these two come together to go over details of Luke and Polly's wedding sparks begin to fly.

I love that they brought the best out of each other. Mia is spontaneous and flirty, Gavin is strict, brooding and by the book. But opposites do attract and the attraction between these two is steaming hot.

"You're my best surprise of all."

This was another sweet, lovely read by Nina Lane, who is known for her fantastic storytelling. I would definitely recommend this to fans of this author and romance readers.

4.5 Stars!

 photo IMG_1384_zpsbmccjh2e.jpg

Mia Donovan is a gorgeous, feisty, confident woman from a coastal California town called Indigo Bay. She works a job she hates at an insurance agency, but occasionally also helps out her best friend Polly at her bakery called Wild Child. Mia is the type of woman that goes after what she wants, & what she’s wanted for the past year is a man named Gavin Knight. Gavin is the head of security at her friend Polly’s bakery. He was sexy as hell, & she loved his strength. As much as she relentlessly, shamelessly flirted with him, he seemed completely immune to her charm. She finally begins to give up her pursuit, & that’s when Gavin finally makes his move.

Gavin Knight is serious, brooding, & all about his job and keeping people safe. He noticed the lovely Mia Donovan with her blonde hair, tight sweaters, & little skirts a long time ago. He just wasn’t ever willing to cross that line. Now that they are working together on Luke & Polly’s wedding, they are seeing more of each other. It’s becoming harder for him to pretend he doesn’t desperately want her, & she’s testing his self control. He hadn’t wanted to admit to himself that he always looked forward to seeing her. She’s had his attention all along. He’d grown rather fond of her, but didn’t act on anything because he didn’t want complications. He didn’t feel he was relationship material.

 photo IMG_1390_zpsgvpb3bku.jpg

Gavin & Mia are so different. He’s all serious & about strict control, and she’s all fun, flirty, and easy going, but when these two opposites connect it’s magical. Mia can’t believe she’s finally with the delicious man that’s starred in all her fantasies. She thought he barely knew she existed. For so long she wished something would happen between them, & now she’s in pure bliss at the thought of him touching her again.

As Gavin & Mia become more involved, Gavin worries he can’t be everything Mia deserves. He has troubles from his past he still deals with, & struggles with his feelings for Mia. She’s suddenly become everything good in his life, & he can see their future together.

I adored Gavin Knight & love this series so much! Each book is just as fabulous as the last. Can’t get enough of this series & look forward to more of the Stone brothers & Papa Stone too! ;))

-As much as she’d been after him, she hadn’t known, not really, if she could handle the dominance and rigidity that were such an intrinsic part of him.

-“Come on, my little flirt,” he whispered roughly. “You think I haven’t noticed you all these months?

-After all those months of trying to get his attention, she now had his attention right to the center of her soul.

-Gavin Knight was a man who knew how to take what he wanted. And take her he did.

-She couldn’t believe this was happening, that after all this time, Gavin Knight was holding her and touching her like this.

-Everything inside her came alive.

I would be lying if I said Gavin and Mia didn't have me intrigued. Mia's flirting with the silent security expert had me impatient to finally see him give in to her because I knew they would have amazing chemistry together. And I was right! I loved this couple, and Mia's fun and just a little silly personality was the perfect match for Gavin's no-nonsense demeanor. I can't wait to get more from this series but I was a little sad to see this one end. Definitely a recommend from me!

Sexy, delicious, and oh so scrumptious!!! Nina Lane once again has readers on a sugar high of love as she has bestowed us with one delectable morsel of sugary and sticky as molasses love story. In Sweet Time, Gavin and Mia have been on each other radars. Both wanting each other and yet all the flirting Mia has done to get Gavin’s attention seems to go unnoticed. Or has it? As it turns out, Mia has been the star in Gavin’s fantasy but suffering from PTSD, Gavin tries to keep Mia distant. And so when they are forced to work together for their friend’s wedding, it seems their sexual attraction to one another is something both can’t deny. So if you are looking for a love story where a hot as sin alpha male finally admits his attraction to the delectable woman who stars in his fantasy, then this sweet romance is the book for you.

Well this has been a long anticipated coupling! Mia Donovan has had the hots for Gavin Knight ever since he walked into Wild Child bakery. She admittedly is a flirt but he is on another level of hotness altogether!

For the past 12 months Mia has shamelessly flirted with ‘Mr Serious’ Gavin Knight and has never had any sign of any mutual interest back from him. Now that she is tasked with planning her best friend’s wedding to one of the well know Stone brothers, they will be working very closely together.

So closely that he randomly shows up at her house whenever he feels like it. Gavin has a very routined life, he doesn’t like to take risks, be spontaneous or throw caution to the wind. Everything he does is planned out meticulously with all risk factors considered. His personality could not be more opposite to Mia’s.

“You have a really nice smile, Gavin,” Mia remarked. “You should lead with that.” “Instead of?” “Instead of this stern Roman emperor thing you’ve got going on.”

Mia is everything good in the world and Gavin knows that all of his ‘bad stuff’ could dull her shine. However, under all of that happiness is a girl who doesn’t know her own worth, often lacks confidence and she hides behind her smiles. Gavin is encouraging Mia to believe in herself more and see the the side of her that he sees.

Mia is determined to introduce a few surprises and spontaneity into Gavin’s life and she really has to work hard at this, he is a stubborn man. However, once these two are naked together everything changes, unsurprisingly he is very dominant in the bedroom and Mia loves it. Now if she could only get him to loosen up a bit in his every day life….

‘No she didn’t want to trap Gavin Knight. She wanted to be the one to set him free. Being free meant being happy.’

As the wedding day gets closer the stress levels climb and Mr Roman Emperor is in full control freak mode. Both of them are determined to make this day be everything that Luke and Holly dreamed of. The balance between fun and managing a looming security threat is dividing them and their personality differences between Gavin and Mia may just be too hard to him to overcome.

I know that some people say that opposites attract and to some extent I agree but there has to be compromise and a bit of give and take when two very different people fall in love. I love how both Gavin and Mia brought out the good in each other.

"4.5 Sweet Stars!"

Loved this!

I've waited for a couple of books now to see how Mia's flirty attempts to engage with the very rigid Gavin Knight would pan out. I thought it'd be fun to finally see him bend, to see him smile, to see him more than what we saw in the other books.

I wasn't disappointed! They were fun together. When Mia and Gavin had to work together to ensure Polly and Luke's wedding was both beautiful and safe of security threats, it pretty much lent itself to Gavin finally giving in. As much self control and discipline he has displayed for as long as he's resisted Mia's flirtations, the longing, the lust, the pull of her was too strong!

Them getting together was hot! On the surface they were the exact opposite of each other. But where he was hard and unyielding and focused, she was soft and light and fun.

Mia was exactly what Gavin needed but he didn't know and took a bit to finally figure it all out!

As for Gavin...who knew the most uptight, most stoic, rigid character would be so sweet!!!

I'm sorry I didn't realize sooner how you'd turn my life around, fill it with everything good. I'm sorry I didn't know I was the luckiest bastard on earth to have caught the attention of Mia Donovan, the girl who creates beauty in the world just by existing. I'm sorry I couldn't admit...that you had my heart the minute you looked at me.

And there's more and more in the end that just wrapped it all up so...well...sweetly!

★3.5 STARS★

Oh how I love the Sugar Rush! This hit comes courtesy of serious Sugar Rush security chief, Gavin Knight and flighty and flirty, Mia Donovan. If you’re a fan of the series you’ll know Mia has been unsuccessfully trying to snare Gavin’s attentions. Her sweaters have gotten tighter and her skirts shorter, but much to her chagrin the stoic security chief does not appear to be enamoured by her charms.

Finally at her wits end Mia gives up and decides to throw her efforts into the planning of her best friends wedding to the CEO of the Sugar Rush Candy Company. Low and behold it’s a move that sees her collaborating with the security chief in ways she could not have imagined.

Gavin has noticed Mia from the very first day he met her, and much to his annoyance he can’t keep her off his mind. She’s lively, fun and off limits to him. Although he is Chief security to the Stones he also considers them brothers, and a distraction like Mia is not one he can afford at such a critical time.

With the wedding as high profile as it is it’s Gavin’s job to ensure all plans go off without a hitch, which also includes curtailing some of Mia’s proposals. Of course this does not go down well with our feisty heroine, but lucky for us (and her) Gavin’s hands are big enough to handle a handful like Mia.

Sweet Time is a cute and surprisingly spicy edition to the series. Nina Lane continues to deliver a never-ending gob stopper of deliciousness and I can’t wait to see what the she has in store for us next.

I could not wait to get my hands on this couple's story since first introduced in Sweet Dreams and WOW, Sweet Time was a tasty little treat. Sexy, flirty and witty, Gavin and Mia's romance was on the shorter side in comparison to the other installments, yet no less enjoyable. Eloquently written and jam-packed with all the goodness this author spoils me with ~ a captivating plot, a sprinkling of drama, lovable characters and heaps of passion ~ it was a delightful addition to Nina Lane's Sugar Rush series.

Following the storyline, we know that poor Mia Donovan tried every trick in the book striving to catch the eye of her long-time crush, Gavin Knight, but to no avail. Patient and tenacious, she never gave up the hope of winning him over. Seriously focused on his business, as well as heading the Sugar Rush Candy Company's security team, Gavin seemed to pay little attention to Mia, and with good reason. The constant battle with demons from his past prevented Gavin from giving into his hidden desires. But when they are forced to work together and help plan their good friends' wedding, the crackling sexual tensions between them finally exploded, and the fiery chemistry between these two sizzled.

Mia and Gavin were made for each other and were the perfect "opposites attract" type of couple. Mia's outgoing and whimsical personality complemented that of disciplined, commanding, and standoffish Gavin. Together, their powerful connection and the love they shared made sparks fly within kindle. Mia was a lovable heroine, a bit immature and looney at times, but with a kind heart and good intentions. She added a lighthearted feel to this read with all her feisty and flirtatious shenanigans. Gavin, on the other hand, was intense, incredibly swoon-worthy and all Alpha. A hero with an erotic side, his broody hotness and overly sexual demeanor were ass-spanking yummy. There was a part of me that wanted more from his character as I felt he was holding a little piece of himself back - perhaps more insight into his past - as I did not want to let him go. Regardless, he captured my heart with his sweet and loving ways.

Nina Lane never ceases to amaze me with her passionate tales, and I so enjoyed spending time with Gavin and Mia. Sweet Time was fast-paced but did not lack any of this author's trademark beautiful and descriptive writing style. There was an element of angst woven into the story, which I wanted to explore further since I'm a greedy reader who never wants to let go of a great story. I highly recommend this series, as well as all of Nina's novels, as she is a remarkable storyteller. As always, looking forward to more from the Family Stone.

Favorite Quotes:

You want to know why I pretended to ignore you for so long? ... Because you make the bad stuff disappear... I go into the bakery, and you’re there, like an ice-cream cone on a hot day... I was afraid if I talked to you, I’d break the spell.

She wanted to see him again... but she also just wanted him. She wanted to curl up on his lap and feel his arms lock around her. She wanted him to bring her ice cream and call her a pretty girl. She wanted to feel his strong body beside hers as she fell asleep. She wanted to wear his shirts and smell him on her skin. She wanted him to trust her with his secrets.

“Oh my.” She pressed a hand to her heart, her eyes widening. “Are we really a thing, Mr. Knight? Why, I just might swoon.”

I’m sorry I didn’t realize sooner what an incredible gift you are. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you every chance I had that you made my heart come back to life.

My Review:

Opposites attract in this engaging and sexy adult romance with enticing and endearingly quirky characters. Ms. Lane paints her lively and clever characters with lovely combinations of vivid words as well as cunning insights and observations. Gavin was a bossy alpha male who followed a disciplined routine, hated surprises, and had returned from his sixth tour of duty in Iraq with control issues, busted knees, and PTSD. Mia loved surprises, helping her friends, whoopie pies, and sugar. He had been struggled to keep his distance from her as she was his client’s friend and all the while she had been straining all her best flirting muscles and crushing on him for over a year only to have grown increasingly exasperated with his lack of response. I adored this couple and Ms. Lane’s top-shelf storytelling, erotic sensual scenes, and clever references to that ‘80s “epic, swashbuckling tale of true love” and best movie of all time – The Princess Bride. I’m grateful the Sugar Rush Candy Company family is large as I have high hopes of this being a long and undoubtedly highly entertaining series.

I have read quite a few books by Nina Lane and I especially love her Spiral of Bliss series. Sweet Time is the part of the Sugar Rush series which is a series of contemporary romances which follow on a lighter note. Though this is a part of the series Sweet Time can be easily read as a stand alone novel. The Sugar Rush series follows the Stone family and their love stories but Sweet Time was a bit of a deviation from that. This is the story of Gavin who is the Sugar Rush security Chief and Mia.

Mia was such a fun character. She was always bright and optimistic and had a personality to go along with it. Mia has been trying so hard to seduce Gavin since almost a year but she has failed time and time again. I really enjoyed Mia's character. She was a normal girl who was stuck in a rut with a boring job. She had her insecurities but she wanted to live life to the fullest.

Then we have Gavin. Gavin is a former soldier and he has seen far too much in life to be anything but cynical. Especially about love and relationships. He in fact even distances himself from the entire Stone clan to keep himself aloof of emotions. Resisting Mia is hard but he is doing it. When Mia and he have to work together circumstances change.

I truly enjoyed Gavin and Mia as a couple. It was a case of opposites attract but it worked so so well. Nina Lane just knows how to write romance and she expertly weaves Mia and Gavin together while staying true to their individual personalities. Gavin was the cynic but Mia made him want to believe in love.

Sweet Time was also filled with lots of steamy scenes. Mia and Gavin's opposing natures don't deter them from getting together. In fact they are like two puzzle pieces fitting together to complete the picture. The only complaint I have of Sweet Time is that I wish it were longer. The book got over way too fast for me. I can't wait to see what Nina Lane has coming up next in the Sugar Rush series.

Polly’s best friend Mia Donovan has been..lusting..over Gavin Knight for a year. Ironically, it takes Luke and Polly’s wedding to finally make Gavin acknowledge Mia’s presence and admit their undeniable chemistry.

Mia, with her pockets full of rainbows and sunshine, was exactly what Gavin didn’t know he needed to break up his monochromatic world. I liked the emotional undercurrents that ebbed and flowed between these two! I adored how Gavin made Mia more aware of herself and her talents and loved how Mia brought Gavin out of his self-imposed shell.

Sweet Time was a sugary concoction of delectable deliciousness and I enjoyed every wonderful bite! I loved the ultra steamy attraction, the emotional growth, and the charming sweetness of two people falling for each other.. well that simply made my heart sing!

Book Four of the Sugar Rush series, Sweet Time can work as a stand alone, but why miss out on Mia’s antics to attract Gavin’s attention through out the first three books? Go forth and check this series out!

Sweet time indeed. I had a good time reading the book and I enjoyed it a lot. It was a quick and easy book to read. Mia and Gavin were a good together. Mia is all about sweetness and living her life, while Gavin is strict and grumpy. I liked seeing him change because of Mia. The book belongs in the opposites attract category, which is almost always a fun read. This book got me hooked and I plan to read the rest of the books in the series. The secondary characters were a good addition to the story. I believe that the readers will enjoy the book. It's not drama heavy and that helped me spend a relaxing afternoon with the book.

Meh. This was just okay. I wasn’t that fond of Gavin and I hated that the heroine does most of the chasing in the book. I didn’t really get how he’d pretended to ignore her for a year and how out of nowhere he decided he couldn’t keep pretending anymore. There wasn’t any real reason or a good enough reason for pushing her away IMO.

The ending was pretty cheesy and I wasn’t sure what they really loved about each other. It was just okay.

After witnessing glimpses of the will-they-or-won't-they debacle of Mia and Gavin in the previous three books, I was so excited to finally see them get their chance at a HEA in Sweet Time. In the previous books, Mia's always been a constant source of amusement. I love her ceaseless flirting, especially when it comes to Gavin. Additionally, I admire that she's always been a great friend to Polly. I mean, she is the reason why Polly and Luke ended up together, which honestly deems her worthy of a medal in my opinion.

In Sweet Time, a new side of Mia is seen. She's not always the confident, fearless girl she presents herself as. She has insecurities, especially when it comes to her friendship with Polly and her career outlook. I feel that any twenty-something will be able to relate to Mia - she's at that crossroads part of her life where all of her friends are getting married or in relationships or finding the career of their lives while she's just chilling in a dead-end job, single as ever.

Then enters Gavin, finally ready to give it a go with Mia. Their resulting romance was sweet and full of chemistry. I also liked that more of Gavin was seen - he had a lot of layers to his character. More importantly, I loved that while Gavin helped Mia see her potential, he wasn't her "savior" - she saved herself when it came to finding happiness and purpose and I was wholeheartedly behind that!

Last but not least, it was fun to see Polly's wedding in this. Nina even included a mystery within it, and while the mystery was easy to solve, I still enjoyed it.

Overall, another great addition to the Sugar Rush series.

I like this author but haven't enjoyed this series much. The men aren't alpha enough. It's all too 'sweet'!

“They were night and day, oil and water, fire and ice.”

With Sweet Time Nina Lane delivers yet another wonderful story surrounding The Sugar Rush empire. While Sweet Time could be read as a standalone, if you haven’t read the first 3 books in the series I implore you to get acquainted with the Stone family. Plus much of what happens in Sweet Time is driven by a wedding that comes about from characters featured in a previous book. That aside, Sweet Time focusses on the non-relationship between the bubbly Mia and the stoic and staid Gavin as the two are pushed together for a Stone family members’ wedding.

Mia is one of those effervescent characters that makes everyone around her believe in the joy of life. She's simply enchanting; fun, trustworthy, and a reliable friend. She’s without blood family, but has found one in her best friend Polly. This is also true of Gavin. He comes across as a stick in the mud and seems to be the lone person in the Indigo Bay community that hasn’t fallen for Mia’s charms. At first I thought this was an unrequited love story, and while there are some elements of that, this is really about opposites finding solidarity. Mia is exactly the type of women Gavin needs, but he can he let himself relish in the joy and happiness he feels with Mia? He’s a man reluctant to change but in desperate need of it. Mia needs someone to believe in her, to encourage her to take risks, and Gavin is the sort of man who measures the risk and reward. In Sweet Time, we learn how much his calculated movements are meant to drive this perception and why.

I absolutely adore the way Nina brings the characters together and how they cultivate their connection. It’s magical and I felt giddy at the possibility of them. The heat between these two shows up in a big way and there are some off the charts sexy moments where I felt my cheeks flush. There are some incredibly tender moments too; ones that warmed my insides. Mia manages to pull Gavin out of his head which is a wonderful thing to see, just how she gets under his skin and the truth about his feelings for her. The experience is new to both of them and they manage to make some small and large mistakes, but in general the angst is low and the passion high. Another 5 star read from one of my favorite authors! I wholeheartedly recommend this book and series!!

Gahh! Sweet Time was everything I love in a Nina Lane book. It had heart, humor and heat. It was soo soo sexy and filled with alpha goodness and a sassy heroine that blew up his world. I absolutely FLOVED Gavin and Mia and seeing the whole Sweet Rush cast. This was so amazing and I could not get enough. I never wanted it to end!

What happens when a sassy, gorgeous, whimsical cupcake fairy, Mia Donovan, butts heads with HOT, stoic, broody and buttoned up (former) military, elite security specialist, Gavin Knight? Fireworks, folks! Mia, bestfriend of Polly Lockhart has decided to help plan Polly's wedding to Sugar Rush CEO, Luke Stone. But when she constantly goes head to head with Sugar Rush's Security Specialist Gavin, all we could do was hold our breaths and enjoy the resulting showdown. Mia has always wanted Gavin. There was something about this quiet yet watchful man that has rocked her world for a year. But Gavin was not having it. Immune to her flirty banter and charms, he resisted until his restraint eventually broke. And then Good God. Hold the Eff on and prepare for *OVARY EXPLOSION*!

Gah I loved this book so hard. I had a smile on my face from ear to ear and just wanted to hold this wounded man. All his feelings, insecurities and vulnerabilities were just so heartbreaking. He was the perfect match to Mia's cheerful and easy disposition. She brought color into his bleak life and I absolutely could not stop cheering for them. I laughed, I swooned and I cried. Gahh what a fantastic book! I was so not ready to let them go that I kept tapping the pages for an epilogue!! What a magical couple!! Bravo! 4.5 stars!! ~Ratula

Pov: male & female

Main characters: Gavin & Mia

Minor characters: Luke (his friend/boss), Polly (her friend)

My thoughts:

This was another cute story. My only issue is that they all move so quick. Gavin & Mia knew each other for a year, but it’s not really seen in the book. It seemed like they went from 0 to 100 really quickly.

I would have liked to see more of them together. Their relationship spanned 2 weeks, but it felt like 2 days. Had we seen more of their year of knowing each other maybe it wouldn’t have seemed so quick.

There were plot points that weren’t really delved into. He’s a former soldier with ptsd, which is a reason why he doesn’t want to be with her. But it’s not shown and he seemed to move past it instantly. She feels stuck in her job and life, but she stumbled into wedding planning and it took off immediately.

Overall though it was another cute story.

Synopsis:

Gavin grew up as friends with the Stone kids. He had a rough relationship with his dad so he joined the military.

He broke both knees in a building collapse and was medically discharged. He ended up starting a security business. Luke hired him to redo the security at the candy factory.

Mia was raised by her grandmother. She was always into romance and fairy tales. She was very optimistic and bubbly.

After her grandmother died she moved back home. She got a job at an insurance company. She helped at Pollys bakery when needed.

When Luke meets Polly he hires Gavin to upgrade her security at the bakery. When he walks in he notices Mia immediately. She notices him as well, but he seems to ignore her.

Over the next year she constantly flirts with him but he doesn’t respond.

He’s very interested in her, but knows she’s too good for him. She’s happy and positive and he knows he isn’t. She thinks he’s uninterested.

Luke and Polly get engaged and she starts planning the wedding. She gets overwhelmed and Mia steps in to help. She ends up planning the whole thing for Polly.

Luke has started getting threatening letters at work accusing him of stealing an idea and threatening violence. Luke tells Gavin, who was already providing security for the wedding. Gavin decides to beef up security and has to work with Mia.

She’s feeling stuck. She doesn’t enjoy her job and Polly is too busy, or with Luke, so they don’t see each other as much. She goes to a bar one night and meets Danny.

Gavin goes to her house to go over the wedding plans. She asks why he’s so much more involved and he mentions there’s a new issue. He doesn’t want to worry her or Polly. He tells her she needs to run any changes by him for safety reasons.

She teases like always and he tells her she has his attention. He kisses her and they get carried away. He tells her he noticed her. He tells her he’s fantasized about her. He uses his hands on her.

He leaves and can’t stop thinking about her. He knows he’s not good for her. He has ptsd and nightmares. He knows she’s a bright and happy person and he’d ruin it.

He meets with Mia again and takes her to his house. He asks about her job. She mentions she doesn’t like it and that she doesn’t have any useful skills. She asks how he got into security and he mentions the military. He tells her his home life was difficult but the Stones helped him.

They end up having sex. He asks her to stay the night.

When he takes her home he tells her he wants her to think of 5 things she’s good at and text them to him.

She goes to the bar again and bumps into Danny. Danny asks her out but she says no. He gives off creepy vibes.

Luke invites him to a barbecue but he brushes off the invitation.

He goes to her house after work to talk about the wedding. He’s concerned with all the changing plans. She’s frustrated. She doesn’t understand why he’s being so demanding and controlling.

He tells her about the threats. She’s understanding and they work together on the wedding plans.

She asks why he asked for 5 things she’s good at. He tells her he wanted her to see she’s smart and talented. She realizes she’s doing a good job planning the wedding and starts to think of becoming an event planner.

She comes by his place to make dinner and he imagines how it could be between them. She asks about his military service and it reminds him he isn’t good for her.

They sleep together again. She knows about the barbecue and asks him to come.

The Stones have their barbecue and Gavin shows up. He tells her he came because he knew it would make her happy.

Polly and Luke get married. The party goes well and Mia thinks she really can be an event planner.

People brought gifts, even though they were asked not to, so Mia had to scramble to find a place for them. Meanwhile Gavin is dealing with an unexpected pizza delivery.

He finds out Polly planned it and Mia forgot to tell him. He’s upset. He finds out about the gifts and is more upset. He yells at her and hurts her feelings.

She realizes once the wedding is over they don’t have anything left in common.

She goes back to the party and Danny shows up. He grabs her and attempts to kidnap her.

Gavin feels awful for yelling at her and hurting her feelings. He notices Danny dragging her away.

Danny pulls a knife on her and explains he came up with a candy idea and Luke stole it from him. That he’s the one sending the threatening messages because he’s owed money.

Gavin tries to reason with Danny but he doesn’t listen. Mia tells Danny she understands him. That they’re both struggling to find a place in the world. Danny let’s his guard down and she gets away. Danny is arrested.

He feels awful for failing to protect her. She’s distant with him. He apologizes for ignoring her for so long. She tells him she’s in love with him. He tells her he can’t. She tells him he can but he’s not willing to try.

No one at the party noticed the commotion. She gets offered more events.

2 weeks later he’s miserable. He’s hired to help with a Stone family charity event and finds out Mia is planning it. That she started a business and is already doing well. He’s proud of her.

Mia shows up and he tells her he’s proud of her. She thanks him for believing in her. He apologizes again for Danny. She tells him he didn’t fail her. That they made a great team.

A week later she’s helping at the bakery and Gavin shows up. He apologizes again for ignoring her. He tells her he loves her. That he wants to be with her. She accepts.

Sweet Time is the fourth book in the series Sugar Rush. This book follows Mia Donovan and Gavin Knight. At the start of the book the two have known each other for at least a year. While Mia has done everything she can think of to get Gavin's attention, he's managed to ignore her for the last year. However, everything changes when Mia and Gavin have to work together on logistics for Polly's, Mia's best friend, wedding.

This my introduction into the series and as can be expected I missed out on some of the references to past characters/relationships. Although I was a little lost on that end I didn't feel like that took anything from the story.

After years of no response, or even acknowledgment from Gavin, Mia has decided to try to move on from him. From Mia's point of view Gavin is impassive but we soon find out he's not unaffected by her as he tries to seem. Once Gavin finally gives in to Mia's advances their relationship takes off. There were the hot and steamy moments but there were also difficult times the two had to talk/work through. They were only together for about two weeks but I felt like they learned so much about each other during this time. I really enjoyed this book and will be going back to check out the rest of the series.

I was given a advance copy for honest book review and I am so happy that I did. This story was a great read, Nina Lane is a great writer who literally captivated my attention from the beginning. I was taken in by Mia's character and her infatuation with Gavin. I loved Gavin's attitude towards the attention he was getting from Mia and how they were playing a whole cat and mouse game for a whole year. Their story was not cheesy or overly dramatic, they had great chemistry and I enjoyed reading how there love for one another developed. This story was funny, cute, and had the right amount of romance and sex.
I love Nina's other series and reading this 4th installment of the sugar rush series definitely makes me want to read the other books in this series. This book can definitely be read as a stand alone but for me it made me curious as to how the other couples in the book met.
I would recommend this book to my friends and fellow book lovers, especially those that love lots of sexual tension and bruiting male characters.

Sweet Time can easily be read as a standalone if you have not read any of the previous books or are behind on the series. This was a fast paced book that hooked me in from the very start. I was easily able to read this one in one afternoon and I loved the laughs it gave me, the touch of angst and suspense that added some depth and the romance was well balanced.

Mia and Gavin will quickly win over your hearts and have you quoting some of your favorite lines from the Princess Bride, trust me when you read the book this will make complete sense. I liked how Mia was trying to not only win Gavin over but wanted to be a place he could be less on guard all the time. When something happens you know it hits Gavin deep and I could totally understand why he reacted the way he does.

Sweet Time was a sweet romance mixed with a bit of alpha dominance that created a book that I really enjoyed. I can easily say put this one your TBR lists.

Sweet Time is a reminder of why I'm a Nina Lane fan. In a world full of jaded people where anger and hate seems to be becoming the norm, it's nice to see that there are still a few optimists among us encouraging us to be strong. Gavin and Mia may be less than perfect, totally mismatched and not keen on falling in love, but the wit that Ms. Lane brought to the table is the perfect blend of humor, heart and happiness to chase away life's blah moments and leave a lasting impression that is sure to please.

This is the fourth installment of the Sugar Rush romance series. Gavin Knight has been a friend to the Stone family for years and he's over Sugar Rush security. Mia Donavon has tried everything to get Gavin's attention and nothing has worked, but maybe her dreams will come true when they have to work together on the Stone family wedding. I have really enjoyed this series from the beginning and I really couldn't wait for this love story to happen. Great story and wonderful series. Nina Lane never disappoints.

These two characters together are like some kind of hard boiled, soft centred candy. And the story itself is just as tasty.

What I enjoyed most about this though was the contrast of their characters. Sometimes, when you have protagonists who are so different, you can be scratching your head about their attraction. Here, their chemistry (restrained or let loose) just sizzled, and underneath their fronts, their differences are less apparent.

Loved it.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I have fun watching straight laced Gavin have his world get turned on his head when he finally gave into his crush on Mia, sweet, fun loving Mia, who ate sugar and other crap. The last part was funny seeing how Gavin reacted to, but loved how he embraced it all at the end. I was a bit worried in the middle when it didn't look like Gavin was going to let himself find happy and in the process break Mia's heart. It was a good thing he came to his senses.

I've been waiting for Gavin and Mia's story since we've meet them in the first book with Luke and Polly! And I was not disappointed in Sweet Time. Gavin came off mysterious, moody and not very social, but all he needed was the right woman to bring light into his life and Mia is his perfect match.
