Why the ‘Emoji’ Became Physical

Why the ‘Emoji’ Became Physical

You see them everywhere! They’ve overtaken our online posts! You can find them in our Department Stores, in our Gadget Stores, on street corners, on our dashboards—yes, everywhere.

The EMOJI or Emoticon--It’s here to stay…

My 12 year old Granddaughter is an ‘Emoji’ nut! She loves to see and use the Emoji all the time. Sometimes her text messages are just Emoji. For her birthday last week, I even got her a journal that has a large Emoji on the front cover. She giggled and was tickled when she opened it up.

What that little incident with the journal shows is that the Emoji has ‘gone physical!’

That little symbol we started using in our online messaging has transitioned to our physical world. We want to touch them, and use them in other contexts than just online.

 WHY?

Anything good, you will see transition to the physical world. The real heart of the matter is that we are humans & we live in a physical world—thus we want physical things.

We will never succumb to the total digital world in our communications and relationships.

We have to ‘Get Physical’ or our connections and relationships fade off.

I’ve seen the same phenomenon happen in our networking.

We may meet someone (or connect) online, but in order for our connection to be complete, we want to see & meet them in person at a networking event.

That very common reaction led me to a couple of discoveries about networking; Discoveries that make huge differences in our networking if we exercise them.

The first discovery is that we desire to continually expand our ‘Influence Group’ (or, Connections).

What starts out online, wants to become physical. And, that’s where the trouble starts! We then get all nervous and anxious about meeting someone face-to-face, but we also crave it! That is what’s called a paradox, yet we live with it every day.

We also tend to think that the ‘more’ connections or the bigger the Influence Group we have, the better it is. I’ve found that we are limited in how far we can go and still have an effective relationship. (You may want to check out my discussion on it in my Networking Pencil book, chapter 1)

The main point I’d like to make here though is that we want to meet people face-to-face in order to really feel connected and to get to the point of real trust (I hear a lot of people relate this point) in that person. Thus, we may meet them online, but we really desire to ‘meet’ them in a face-to-face encounter.

The second discovery involves each person who is meeting someone for the first time. I did not realize what actually happens to develop a relationship until I was thinking and working through a lesson I would be teaching at one of my events. It’s turned into a major revelation and sums up true relationships very nicely—in fact, it’s becoming a Networking Revolution; and, I call it the I-U-WE principle. The real power is in the 4th key of this 3-part formula.

These two discoveries are crucial to my and your networking success and I’ve included them in my Networking Extravaganza event that is starting this month on October 24th in Medina, Ohio & on October 31st in North Canton, Ohio. Click on either location to find out more and to get yourself engaged with us to grow your networking and your ‘Emoji Power!’

Check out the Medina Hosts and the North Canton Hosts. These businesses have stepped up to the plate to help you enjoy and get connected during this Extravaganza event.

Many of you I know online and I look forward to meeting you face-to-face so we can grow our connection further—and, so I can introduce you to our magnificent Hosts for the events.

Specifically, I’d like to introduce you here to Dolly Hanreck of Legacy Hair Studios and Tim Weyer of honeybeeBase.

I look forward to seeing you & let's get physical!!

Discoveries #1 and 2 can be uncovered here.

Discoveries #3 and 4 can be excavated here.

“I love the way you include everyone in the discussions, Bob. It makes us feel important to the group and makes it so we remember and implement what is being taught. You have a way of drawing people out and into the conversation that I’ve not seen in many leaders.”
