NSPC: More than Just Spinal Pain – Treating Pain From Head To Toe

Sometimes a name can be a little deceiving. At National Spine & Pain Centers, we’ve developed a reputation for being experts in diagnosing and treating many of the most common causes of back and neck pain, including herniated discsspinal compression fractures, and spinal stenosis. What gets lost in our name, however, is that we treat all forms of pain. As a board-certified pain medicine physician with more than 35 years of experience, I am treating pain from head to toe. That means I can help my patients overcome everything from the debilitating effects of chronic migraine headaches to plantar fasciitis.

I recently treated a patient who was referred to me by his surgeon, who believed the best way to treat his recurrent post-surgical abdominal pain was to see a specialist in pain management. I treat diabetics who struggle with neuropathy in their feet and have helped those diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis manage the joint pain that accompanies this autoimmune disorder. I am honored that other physicians trust me enough to refer their patients to me and I work closely with them to ensure my efforts are part of a comprehensive, coordinated treatment plan.

But of course, I also see patients who are dealing with pain that is the result of an injury or simply the aging process. Over the course of my career in pain medicine, I have witnessed remarkable advancements in the way we can identify, target and treat pain. The best part is, we are now able to alleviate pain without lengthy and costly hospital stays by using x-ray guidance to perform minimally invasive procedures.

These interventions are done in our office procedure suites and require nothing more than a small incision. That means patients are able to go home after a short observation period. Their recovery and rehab time is a fraction of what follows traditional open surgeries.
