Say Yes To Success! And... Follow The Advice Of These Amazing Ladies!

We all need mentors in our life to help us along the way. I've been lucky to have had plenty over the years. In the early days, I relied on the advice of seasoned friends and professionals, often successful women I looked up to. I remember many a session over drinks discussing the intimidating and exhausting world of business ownership. And, there were more than a few late-night caffeinated phone calls with cries of, "Tell me what to do!" Today, I still have mentors — some of them the very same people — as well as peers whose judgment I trust and who can offer a different perspective. Given my years of experience — and vastly successful empire that dominates the world of event-planning and small business ownership (OK... maybe I'm getting a little carried away...) — I'm now in a position to be a mentor to other colleagues and younger versions of myself.

It's pretty cool to be at that stage in my career where I can offer useful advice and insight to people who are either just starting out in business, or are already well established. In fact, when I realized that I had a knack for helping people improve their businesses, that's when I launched The Profit Goddess! and decided to get paid for my sage advice. Of course, that's not what being a mentor is. But hey, not everyone can fit in one's inner circle. Those who do are my mentees. And everyone else is now a client.

In addition to sharing ideas and talking shop with my usual network of peeps, I also try to soak in as much info as I can from those who've really made it big in their field. I'm talking big, big (empires even more vast than my own!). So I read a lot of books and articles to glean any advice that might help me. Casting a wide net for inspiration is always a good thing!
