Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) has received an award from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for supporting start-ups. The premier Institute received the award for its contribution towards promoting and mentoring technology start-ups.

Given during the International Science Festival’s Start-up Summit – 2017 at Chennai, the AICTE awards recognise outstanding achievement by academic and research institutes of India in actively promoting and supporting innovation and start-ups in their campuses.

The summit also acknowledged various upcoming start-ups through its nationwide start-up contest.

Sunil Shukla, Director, EDII, said: "EDII has been at the forefront of entrepreneurial development in India and such recognitions are a testament to the hard work that has been put over the years. The start-up ecosystem in India is at an interesting juncture and we will continue to help in launching new enterprises that would be job creators in next few years."

The institute has curriculum that revolves around creating new businesses and encourages students to start new ventures post their graduation. It has also started a business incubation centre, Centre for Advancing and Launching Enterprises (CrAdLE), to mentor new start-ups and facilitate speedy commercialisation of technologies for better and faster enterprise growth.

According to EDII, its Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Business Entrepreneurship (PGDM-BE) offers milestone-based learning to help students achieve stepping stones in their entrepreneurial journey. Around 80 per cent of the students have either created their own enterprise or have joined family business post passing out from EDII.
