TONKS — a reference for all of you Harry Potter fans — is the solo acoustic side project of Dryjacket bassist Ian Foley, and Foley is ready to bring this project to light.

Like something out of a Wes Anderson film — beautiful, slightly quirk, and aesthetically pleasing — Foley has created TONKS as an avenue to get straight to your heart. He is gearing up to releasing his debut solo album, Windows Down & Dying, on November 16th and explains that “This record is about aging out of ‘live fast, die young,’ and prioritizing a happiness that is simple and consistent.”

Windows Down & Dying is set to be a collection of introspective tracks that are also set to bright, shimmering melodies. Today, we are more than excited to be premiering the debut single from TONKS, “Running Downhill,” which encapsulates all that sound and more.

“Running Downhill” is one that sounds heartbreaking yet hopeful — created by subtle yet effective guitar work, and Foley’s ability to masterfully croon out his lyrics to paint something delicate and exciting. It is one meant to be played during the fall, having just left summer behind, in the dark and soaking it all in. He further explains that he is “Happy to be releasing this song during the season it was intended to be heard. The song is about timing, and was written to sound like the transition from summer into autumn.”

If you like what you hear from “Running Downhill,” TONKS will be releasing Windows Down & Dying on November 16th, and below you will find the album details — as well as his upcoming tour dates.
