  • Veteran tribal leader and Ex-MP Charan Narzary no more

    Kokrajhar:  Veteran Tribal leader and former Member of Parliament (MP) Charan Narzary expired this wee morning at a private hospital in Guwahati, family sources said. He was 86. He was survive by his wife, 4 daughters and a son. His body was brought to his house at Mwiderkhoro in Kokrajhar for last rite.

    A well known writer, orator, he was the founder General Secretary of Plains Tribals Council of Assam (PTCA), and become a  Member of Legislative Assembly election in 1972 before becoming Member of Parliament in 1977. He was a Prof of Kokrajhar college before joining politics. He also wrote the lyrics of evergreen Bodo song “Golab Bibari Nwng Geolang Barfunai Bibar Gaodang” sung beautifully by Khaniram Brahma in All India Radio, Guwahati which is still a favorite among music listeners. His poem “Anaru tu sigang” is an inspiration to young generation.

    Various individuals, organisation leaders have condolences the sad demise of the veteran tribal leader. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary expresses his condolences and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

    Aasam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma too mourn the demise of ex MP Charan Narzary.

    UPPL president and ex-Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma termed the demise of Narzary as ‘End of an era’,  and prayed to almighty for his eternal peace.

    BTAD Tribal Sangha Coordination committee President Sukumar Basumatary and secretary Mahesh Chandra Brahma have expressed deepest condolences and mourn the death of Charan Narzary and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

    President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) Taren Boro and his vice president Kamala Kanta Mashahary condoled the death of the tribal leader.

    Kokrajhar District Tribal Sangha too have expressed shock over the demise of the veteran tribal leader.
