He was arrested at a police station, held in custody and charged with drug offences.

His actor dad has a lead role in a top telly ratings show. But we can’t name him as it would reveal his son’s identity.

Detectives are still waiting for the results of a post-mortem and toxicology report to confirm the cause of tragic Brandon’s death in Hamilton last Wednesday.

But their main line of inquiry is that he passed away after taking ecstasy. Two girls aged 16 and 17 and a boy of 16 were also taken to hospital — but were not seriously ill.

Brandon had just finished his fifth year at Hamilton Grammar School. He’d played for Hamilton Rugby Club and worked with sports coaching firm Sportworx.

The school’s headteacher Graeme Sives revealed the youth had hoped to become a firefighter.

He said: “Brandon was a fine young man and is a great loss to our school community.”

Earlier this month 16-year-old Chelsea Bruce also died after it’s thought she took ecstasy at a house bash in Glasgow.

Police Scotland said: “We can confirm a 17-year-old man was arrested and charged with alleged drug offences.”

A Crown spokesman added: “He was liberated pending further police enquiries.”
