Conservative firebrand, Candace Owens, believes African-Americans would have to be wary of Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders because he is “a good racist”.

The right-wing talking head was on Laura Ingraham’s show on Fox News debating racial politics and the Democratic primaries with civil rights attorney, Leo Terrell.

Owens started off by criticizing the campaign of Michael Bloomberg. She said the New York City billionaire’s bid to be president was doomed to fail due to Bloomberg’s past support for the racist policing technique of stop-and-frisk.

Bloomberg’s controversial relationship with racial minorities while he was the mayor of New York City has been the focal point of attack by many who do not wish to see him in the White House.

However, Owens felt Sanders was probably a worse racist but in a sly way.

She said in her rant to Terrell and Ingraham: “The good racist, the best racist on the left, by the way, is Bernie Sanders because he pretends to be their friend, he lies to black America’s face.”

“He knows he is going to be the one like Lyndon Baines Johnson, he’s Lyndon Baines Johnson 2.0, who is going to enact policies that are going to harm Black America for the next 100 years when he smiles in their faces and he takes the bait.”

These comments drew a response of confoundment from Terrell who wondered how former President Johnson was categorized as a virulent racist even though he assented to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Owens’ attack on Sanders may also not be shared by a majority of Americans.

According to polls, Sanders is thought to be the best person to beat Donald Trump in November even as the Vermont senator boasts of a huge multiracial coalition.

Backlash against her comments did not stop Owens from going on to Twitter to continue her rant.
