NEWS: Sky Blues supporting Rainbow Laces campaign this Saturday

4 December 2019

Coventry City are proud to be actively supporting the EFL and Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign again this year.

Substitution boards, corner flags and big screen content will be turned rainbow coloured for our home game against Ipswich Town on Saturday 7th December in Sky Bet League One at St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium.

Captains will wear rainbow armbands to show their backing for the campaign - and our social media channels will also be showing our support to encourage supporters to help raise awareness.

The Sky Blues will also be showing their support on the cover of Saturday’s matchday programme, with a special design for this game.

The Rainbow Laces campaign runs between 22 November and 8 December, and throughout this period there will be a wide range of support shown not only an elite level but right across communities, and different sports, as clubs work together to Make Sport Everyone’s Game.

Over the last three years football fans support has helped generate a huge amount of awareness around LGBT people in sport. 12 million people in Britain saw the campaign in November 2018, including 34 per cent of all sport fans.

More importantly, Rainbow Laces has helped foster positive attitudes towards LGBT people in sport and persuaded allies to play their part.

Coventry City are proud to actively support LGBT+ inclusion within football. Anyone who witnesses or experiences homophobic, biphobic or transphobic behaviour, or any other form of discrimination at a match should report it to a steward or via the Kick It Out app.
