Acoustic Solutions using COMSOL Multiphysics®

There is no reason to learn software programs through trial and error. Even though you may be capable of teaching yourself a new software program, it is a large time commitment and a less efficient way to learn tried and tested methods quickly. At AltaSim Technologies, we want you to use your time most effectively and become proficient in a new program with less frustration.

Who should attend

This course is intended for people who seek to analyze acoustic problems  using COMSOL Multiphysics. It is expected that attendees will have an existing knowledge of the structure of COMSOL Multiphysics® and will possess a relevant engineering, physics, mathematics or science background.

Course Content

Days 1 & 2, 12:30pm - 5:00pm

This course will lead attendees through the use of COMSOL Multiphysics to perform analysis of acoustic problems.  The following items will be covered:

  • Modeling features specific to acoustic problems
  • Governing equations for analysis of acoustic problems
  • Classic pressure acoustics
  • Guided waves
  • Far-field wave radiation
  • Wave scattering
  • Acoustics in the time domain
Days 3 & 4, 12:30pm - 5:00pm

Solution techniques for advanced acoustic problems will be examined.  The following topics will be addressed:

  • Thermoviscous acoustics
  • Poroelastic waves
  • Aeroacoustics
  • Multiphysics coupling (for example: acoustophoresis, loudspeaker, ultrasonic heating)

Instructors

Instruction will be performed by experienced engineers who use COMSOL Multiphysics® on a daily basis to solve a wide range of complex multiphysics problems. Among the instructors will be:

Sergei Yushanov

Sergei has more than thirty years experience in computational analysis and specializes in analysis of problems relating to electromagnetic, vibration, plasma and acoustic phenomena, structural, piezo-electric, and heat transfer. As a Principal Engineer at AltaSim he has been instrumental in the development and application of multiphysics analysis to problems in the Automotive, Aerospace, Medical Products, Consumer Products, and Energy markets.

Luke Gritter

Luke has more than fifteen years experience in multiphysics analysis and specializes in analysis of problems relating to fluid flow, thermal, electro-magnetic, plasma and acoustic phenomena. As a Principal Engineer at AltaSim he has been instrumental in the development and application of multiphysics analysis to real world problems in the Medical Products, Consumer Products, Semiconductor Devices and Energy markets.

Hear What Our Students are Saying

"I took the Multiphysics Solutions using COMSOL Multiphysics: An Introductory Training Course. It helped me jump start my understanding of COMSOL and how to build simulation models as well as visualize the results. I don’t regularly use COMSOL in my daily work so it is hard to remember all I learned. As a result, I often refer back to the class notes to help me remember how to do a specific task or what settings are needed to accomplish a specific action. The class and notes are valuable as a reference. AltaSim does a good job of training their students. I would recommend them for COMSOL training."

- Jim Vinson ~~ Renesas Electronics Corp.

"I attended two training courses titled "Electromagnetics in COMSOL Multiphysics: AC/DC" and "RF and Wave Optics" where I gained the necessary fundamental knowledge to dig deeper and obtain what is needed to enhance my research work. The efforts Dr. Yushanov invested in delivering the fundamental concepts have greatly helped to strengthen my understanding in building models and run simulations efficiently. These courses have also helped me to gain the required knowledge within a relatively short period of time. Thus, AltaSim Technologies, given its prestigious reputation in COMSOL training, is and will always be my first choice for training courses, as it provides all required knowledge for the most ideal habitat for my career aspiration in performing academic research."
