"Those behind it are morons."

Glasgow City Council confirmed they were sending someone from the graffiti removal team to the scene after it was brought to their attention.

The slur was still there as the game kicked off.

It is believed the graffiti is in a car park near Aikenroad Road - the route Celtic fans would have passed while walking to the ground.

It comes after vile sectarian graffiti saying "f**k Huns" appeared at Rangers' training ground.

The slur appeared on a box near the entrance to the Auchenhowie ground in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Images of the graffiti appeared on social media first thing this morning - with Light Blues fans outraged.

Rangers club bosses said that the sectarian behaviour "wouldn't be tolerated".

Ibrox chiefs said they were studying CCTV footage in a bid to catch those responsible.

A spokesperson said: "We are studying security camera footage to see if those responsible might be identified.

"Sectarian behaviour, in whichever form it takes, must never be tolerated."

Police Scotland said that they had not been made aware of today's graffiti.
