Station to Station for John!

Donation protected
On the 26th February we will be running from the Walton RNLI Station to Harwich RNLI Station, in memory of our beloved grandfather and stepfather.

The run will be just over a half marathon, leaving the station in Walton hugging the coast all the way, cross country, reaching the sea wall leading us to Harwich.

We are hoping to kick start the RNLIs fundraising appeal in memory of John, to support the next generation of lifesaving in Harwich with this run!

Volunteering for Harwich RNLI in 1977 at just seventeen years old, he went on the become second coxswain in 2003, and saved 427 lives and countless others in peril on the sea. John dedicated 44 of his 63 years to the charity, until his untimely death on Boxing Day 2020 due to complications after surgery.

No matter the time of day John would drop everything, leaving his family to help complete strangers in distress. John to us, was a wonder stepfather and grandfather, and we hope to raise as much money as we can in his name, and make him very proud.

The RNLI is a registered charity that saves lives at sea. It provides, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service to 100 miles out from the coast of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland and a beach lifeguard service on over 200 beaches in England. The RNLI continues to rely on voluntary contributions and legacies for its income.
